my mom was born and raised in Puerto Rico. Ive been to the island a number of times but mostly as a child, then I went about a year and a half ago. My mom my step dad myself and my wife. We traversed the island we would look up hotels, motels. hostels wherever we were that night and crashed till the morning and start our adventure again. I fell in love with the island all over again. Your footage is incredible honestly this is going to sound silly but your footage bought tears to my eyes. I got very emotional seeing old San Juan. That place you said felt like a colosseum we were there. I remember reading that use to be a barracks for the military back in the old days. Also I was in that exact same turret you walked up through that narrow passage to get to. it's so true as you said the beauty there is breathtaking. I can't thank you enough guys for taking such incredible video footage, It got me seriously choked up. I want so bad to go back to Puerto Rico, I just love it. My Mom was born in a little town called Penuelas, it is such a quaint and awesome little town. The town square has this beautiful plaza in the plaza is a old beautiful church and an amphitheater. There is also a old locomotive engine that is on display outside in a small park alongside the plaza. There is so much history on that little island I am so fortunate to be descendant from it. Once again, I can't thank you two enough for these incredible videos of your trip there. I really got all emotional. You guys are great host too just so much fun to watch and if you have that desire and if you have even a slight chance of making a place like Puerto Rico your new home, guys go for it. If you think too much about why you can't you'll always find enough reasons why you can't. I've found that in life if you search enough for reasons why you can't then you won't. So focus on why you can. Then just go for it, life's waaaaaay too short to be in desire mode, in longing!!! You guys can become full time travel bloggers and video travel bloggers too. There are people out there doing it with no where near as much personality and fun as you convey. Go for it, you owe it to yourselves and to those who will never have the means to live the dream. Just saying, lol Once again thank you so much for these amazing videos...
+Louis Solano Wow! Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. Puerto Rico was one of the coolest places we have visited together. We were amazed at how much there is to see and do and upset we didn't have enough time to take it all in. We will DEFINITELY be coming back again next year. Also very fitting that what you mention above about just following our desires. We are planning a full year of travel for 2018 and Puerto Rico will be first on the list! We need to catch everything we missed. Your kind words mean a lot and we couldn't be happier that our videos brought smiles and memories your way. So glad you enjoyed and we are happy to have you part of our DBV family!!!! 😎😀👍🏻
Stacia Sleight awesome!! I love my island, but you have to take care about where you go. Do a good research about places and warnings. I hope you enjoy your visit. Cabo Rojo, Crach Boat beach, Cueva Ventana, Carvernas (cave) de Camuy, La estatua de Cristobal Colon, el Observatorio de Arecibo. (Contact movie, X files and other filmed there). Actually, the place that you already visit in old San Juan: Castillo San Cristobal was the place that Disney film Pirates of the Caribbean. Well, a lot more!!
The building with the big courtyard 6:15 is Cuartel De Ballaja and was a military quarters where soldiers lived. Is the biggest military building constructed by Spain in the Americas not counting Fort San Cristobal 0:58 the biggest fort built in the Americas.
+Jorge Valenzuela Thanks man! 👍🏻 Old San Juan is absolutely stunning. Such charm and beauty. We can't wait to go back and spend more time there. I feel like we didn't really get to see it all. There is stuff around every corner 😀
your video 3:58 mins, that part was used for movie Pirates of Caribbean, when Jack Sparrow was acting like a judge, and his friend was accused in dead penalty, ,, check it, good video
+Cigarsnscotch Thanks bro! Appreciate that 😀 Songs are so hard to find. Especially when you're as picky as me haha. This was a perfect track for the footage 👌🏻
Wow this is the second video I am watching of you and this is incredible. Old San Juan looks awesome. You are very talented at what you do man keep you up
welcome to come again ! thank you for your amazing videos of your experience here , I was so good that i join your channel now! this is our Puerto Rico to the rest of the world ! visit us and take the magic with you.......
DeathByVlog thanks ! follow me on Intgrm DragonwallPR , glad to help and show you my view of our island , hope we can keep communicating , and Thanks for take out of your busy life to read my comment and answer. Good vibes to you all ! keep the great job !
I stumbled upon your channel looking for info on Philadelphia's graffiti pier (which I'm exploring tomorrow)... and then I saw your Puerto Rico footage and OHHH MYYY GOD. Those drone shots are amazing. Thank you for capturing my island in such an impeccable way. I'm glad you and your wife loved it! P.S: that orangy looking monument is called " El Tótem Telúrico", it was created by a local artist named Jaime Suarez. The monument serves as a tribute to the discovery of the new world.
+Coral Rosado Awesome! Glad you found the channel and dig the videos. You are going to LOVE graffiti pier. Such an awesome place to visit. And I think the weather will be in your favor tomorrow too 👌🏻 Thanks for the info about the monument. Very cool! 😀
+mc drone Thanks bro! I gotta say though, sort of missing the Phantom 4. I'm. It digging the quality of some of this footage it's been producing. Granted, I'm shooting in 2.7k 30p, but it should need post processing with sharpness. I'm going to start shooting 4k 30p and down res to 1080 60p and see what the results are.
When you guys left the fort, there was a building under construction, well, in less than 2 weeks, I'll be moving there on the 2nd floor facing the sea guys. I've been in Puerto Rico since 2005, and it never gets old, walking to that fort and enjoying that relaxing view on the mornings. So, if you guys make another trip here, I will gladly escort you. After Hurricane Maria (is 2019 now) the city has recovered remarkably. It's looks as beautiful as it did for this video in 2016 or 2017 when you guys visited.
hector rivera thanks!! This was my favorite part of the trip... I can't wait to go back and explore all of the streets and hidden gems this area has to offer. ❤️
Beautiful video and not boring at all. Hehe Btw, next time you visit Puerto Rico if you like historic towns, the city of Ponce and San German (in the South side of PR)also have historic districts. Ponce it's about an hour and 15 minutes from San Juan taking the 52 toll expressway and then San German it's about 35 minutes from Ponce taking the PR#2 freeway. while I'm Ponce take a drive up to El Vigía hill where you can have a beautiful view of the whole city of Ponce. Can't wait to see your next destination videos. ☺
+Liz Rodz Thanks for those suggestions! We can't wait to visit PR again. It's such an amazing place and we definitely need more time to visit and explore. 6 days went by SO fast and I feel we didn't even scratch the surface of all that PR has to offer 😀🌴
You are welcome, and yes you only covered the Northeast area of PR. The South Western part of Puerto Rico its beautiful, especially the towns of Guanica, Cabo Rojo, Rincon (Known as a surfing destination and best sunsets in PR) and Isabela. Also if you want to see San Juan metro area and have a little taste of the local life there, you can ride the metro there for $1.50 one way(Called Tren Urbano/TU), it goes through the financial district/arena area,University of PR,Rio Piedras shopping district(kinda like the Canal street NYC of PR),Medical Center and end in the city of Bayamon(about 45 mins ride one way). I used to do tours in puerto Rico a while ago for small groups and individuals and i loved it, i got to see most of the island and meet really interesting people. But i still have a few places i want to visit next time i go. :)
The building you called the colisium, is actually the "cuartel vallaja". The building is actually the largest building constructed by the spaniards anywhere in their new world colonies. It was the place which housed the Spanish troops in San Juan and the huge courtyard was the place where the Spanish troops trained.
DeathByVlog you' very kind, I'm just an old man with a deep love of anything historical. I was really happy with your video and couldn't help putting my two cents in as the saying goes. There was a view of the sea from fort San Cristobal which showed a sentry box (garita) right next to the sea, that is called garita Del Diablo or the Devils sentry box. It's history goes like this because back to the 18th century when a soldier during his night watch was visited by his girlfriend and they were never heard from or seen again.
The huge building you were in is actually the largest building built by the spaniards anywhere in their new world colonies. It is called "curated vallaja". It was where the Spanish troops stayed in San Juan, the huge inner court yard was palace where they trained, and I agree the place is actually e
I too had to try that beer when I was there! It was very good! San Juan is stunning! I'm just uploading my videos of the trip there now! Too bad you didn't get to the other fort or the Old Gate! Those are also amazing places to see in old San Juan!
That totem pole is part of the 500 anniversary of the plaza built to commemorate the discovery of America. The pole itself as you can see has the brown color of soil and it represents just that, the soil of America, the beginning of European exploration and the establishment of colonies throughout the new world.
DeathByVlog , no I am originally from Puerto Rico but, I've been living in the states since I was a small child, I'm 67 years old and As you can understand I don't want to die away from my beautiful island. Thanks for visiting the island please Go back Puerto Ricans are truly a humble, wonderful and incredibly hospitable people. May god bless you both.
Thanks for the shoutout guys. We love PR, the people, the food, the vibe and love of life. It's why my folks decided to retire there when they got tired of NYC winters. Also that little narrow tunnel with the turret en El Morro? We took my favorite honeymoon photo there. Suck a magical place. Mom is selling their place in Old San Juan now that Dad's passed, so when you move my kids and I will be crashing with you. Awesome production values and story telling my friends! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
+Jeff J Very Happy we visited here. Of course it's a major tourist area, but wow. Beauty in every direction. What's mom asking? Lol oh no I just put thoughts into Stacia's head 😂
Jeff J wow I bet you that honeymoon photo is amazing! Jeff I'm so sorry to hear about your father passing away. No matter the age, it stings. I'm sure your parents house is out of our price range... but just in case, you know where to find us ;). I would also be willing to move to PR and manage it as a rental property for your mom 😂😂 Just sayin...
Jsun C ,what I heard from friends is that if you fly a drone over a fortress in San Juan (they belong to the U.S national parks system) it can not be operated inside a U.S national Park, but if you located outside the park limits then you can fly over the fortress. The U.S national parks have very strict regulations and don't allow operating and flying a drone in their facilities unless you get a permit directly with them.
+Mitch Wolfrom Thanks man! Yes, it was a Thursday I believe. I didn't know it was a national park, whoops. If DJI's GPS gives me the green light to fly, I do.
What a great place ! I was in Nassau back in the 70s, and some parts of it had the "old world' charm. It was very cool. Stacia, as usual, takes the fashion award. (sorry Ryan.) YT has somehow disabled my ability to record these Vlogs, and I am sad, and stumped. Enjoy the last hours!!!! =Maine=
+mark grindle We weren't able to spend as much time as we wanted there. Next time we visit we will spend an entire day in Old San Juan. Some really beautiful things to see. And the sunsets are crazy! Use Google and search for "URL downloader". Use one of those sites to download the video link 👍🏻
Im going to puerto rico in July and I have watched all of the PR vlogs! Great channel yall and AMAZING quality. when i go im bringing my sonya5100 and a gopro!
Kevin Chung have so much fun!! You absolutely must see both the Rainforest and a private island. The water isn't completely clear around the mainland but you sail out just a few hundred feet and it becomes majestic. You can see straight to the bottom! Let us know your favorite part of PR when you get back from the trip :)
Very cool video. Allow me to suggest a few other things to see in PR next time you visit. The bioluminescent waters in La Parguera, PR to be seen at night its amazing!.. The Camuy caves they have a tour.. The river in San Sebastian and also in Jayuya... The abandoned lighthouse by the cliff in Cabo Rojo. Another lighthouse in Rincon. While in San Juan see the Bacardi factory, and see the islands of Vieques and Culebra you can catch a ferry in Fajardo..See the Christopher Columbus statue.. You could even choose to stay at the islands mentioned instead of SJ.. (if you want to stay at a resort there is El Conquistador in the NE). I actually want to move to PR myself. Check out everything i mentioned on youtube. The bioluminescent water to be seen at night doesnt show on most cameras unless you have an expensive one... But you will be amazed by them, also its better to see them by kayak.
Oh crash boat beach was very nice and the Arecibo dish has been featured in several films. The inland towns in the hills are quite nice... Last time i went i stayed 4 days in the NE and 2 days on the W side.
Hi Michael! Wow, some great advice here. Thank you for all the tips. We do plan on visiting again at the end of our year travel. We only spent 7 days in PR and it’s definitely not enough time to see it all. There is so much we missed 😊
This fort of San cristobal occupies an area if 25 acres and it is the largest military fort in the new world. By the way your wife/girl friend seems quite knowledgable about things Puerto Rican, is she Puerto Rican?
+Benjamin Martinez The visit to Old San Juan was just amazing. Next time we are in #PuertoRico we are definitely staying in OSJ longer to really take it all in. Stacia? Don't let her fool you. She's a master at Googling things 😂
Benjamin Martinez thank you for the info! I'm proud that I could pass as Puerto Rican! As Ryan said, I'm a google master haha. Wherever I am I get really addicted to researching things. I knew the entire Philly subway map before we even moved here 😂
+Sebastian Mar I just googled this and we are definitely going to visit here next time. Not sure how we didn't hear about this earlier. Thanks for the tip! 👍🏻😎
Hi guys ,I teared up with this vlog love the old SJ ,I wish to go back there so beautiful! Stacia did you grow up in PR? (just because you met your childhood friend's mom there )I don't know how long you are in PR but you should check out the caves I don't remember exactly where it was but i think camuy? , I don't know how far it is from SJ .when i went we rented a car and did a road trip and it was amazing! xx
+Maries Beauty Baking and more So glad you liked this video. Tears of joy are good lol 😜 We are already back in Philly, but we will definitely check out these caves you mentioned on our next visit. Which may be soon haha. Stacia isn't from there. Our friends just so happened to be visiting #PuertoRico the same week. So many coincidences on this trip lol
Maries Beauty Baking and more hi Marie! It's really cool that you had some memories flooding back while watching this video! My mom said the same :) I did not grow up in PR, it was a big coincidence that Greg and Kathy were there... I grew up in New York and they still live there. Thanks for watching!
I have a question for you guys. I’m going to Puerto Rico next month and I’ve heard that they are crazy, crazy drivers out there and also about the crime. When you guys were there, did you guys ever feel unsafe at any point in your trip? I’m starting to freak out because I’ll be going with my son who is 16, without my husband. I don’t wanna be afraid that when I hear people talking about how bad it is over there I start to panic a little bit to the point of wanting to cancel my trip but I won’t because this is my birthday gift to my son when he turned 16 earlier this year
Cool video!
+TheSwiftHD Thanks! 👍🏻

I would also be willing to move to PR and manage it as a rental property for your mom 😂😂 Just sayin...
DeathByVlog amazing videos of Puerto Rico!
How Did you get permission to fly the drone at el morro?
Jsun C ,what I heard from friends is that if you fly a drone over a fortress in San Juan (they belong to the U.S national parks system) it can not be operated inside a U.S national Park, but if you located outside the park limits then you can fly over the fortress. The U.S national parks have very strict regulations and don't allow operating and flying a drone in their facilities unless you get a permit directly with them.
Great video ef El Morro. Guess you went on a weekday. They wouldn't let me fly my Mavic 🙁 Federal National Park.
+Mitch Wolfrom Thanks man! Yes, it was a Thursday I believe. I didn't know it was a national park, whoops. If DJI's GPS gives me the green light to fly, I do.
Mitch Wolfrom that totally sucks!
THANKS TO YOUR VIDEOS WE NOW KNOW WHERETO GO IN TWO WEEKS =)
What's ya'lls (yes from Texas) favorite part of Puerto Rico - where should we visit besides old San Juan?
@deathbyvlog
+Kevin Chung Hi! I'd say my favorite part of the trip was the Catamaran to the Icacos Island. El Yunque Rain forest was a close second 👍🏻🌴😀
คือฉันชอบนะมันเหมือนเกาะสมุย
this place looks so dope!! btw... what backpack are you using...i'm always on the hunt for a good travel backpack.... Thanks man!!!
Dj Shy It was such an awesome time man. Definitely come here if you ever visit PR. I'm a bag junkie! 😂 Links are in the description👍🏻
statue name Totem Telúrico, commemoration of 1992 when Cristobal Columbus find Puerto Rico,,
Cristobal Columbus came to PR 1492, , so 500 years after artist Suarez made El Totem Telúrico for remembering those episodes
I'm going to Puerto Rico in two weeks for a cruise. Have you tried any empanadas?
คือมีคนมาเสนอรางวัลเงินสดหลายครั้งเอาเป็นว่าผมให้เขาพิจารณาแล้วกันเพราะว่ารับได้ผ่านก็เอามา
Any DeathbyVlog Video or Pictures of Ryan's former Golden Retriever Best Friend?
Forts are at least 400 years old
This fort of San cristobal occupies an area if 25 acres and it is the largest military fort in the new world.
I knew the entire Philly subway map before we even moved here 😂
Stacia Sleight, you're a very beautiful girl and very smart too, you guys make a great couple. I wish you both a bright future together.
+Benjamin Martinez Hi Benjamin! That's very kind of you to say. She is a pretty gal, I think I'll keep her 👀 😀
lol bro el morro is a no fly zone for drones hahahah
ไม่เอาแล้วประสบการณ์ไม่ดีเรื่องอย่างนี้แม่ฉันมีสามี 2 คนทีเดียว
If you guys are still there you've got to go to piñones!!!
ชอบไหมแถวนี้ฉันจะเคลียร์ให้
I have a question for you guys. I’m going to Puerto Rico next month and I’ve heard that they are crazy, crazy drivers out there and also about the crime. When you guys were there, did you guys ever feel unsafe at any point in your trip? I’m starting to freak out because I’ll be going with my son who is 16, without my husband. I don’t wanna be afraid that when I hear people talking about how bad it is over there I start to panic a little bit to the point of wanting to cancel my trip but I won’t because this is my birthday gift to my son when he turned 16 earlier this year
Hey man I live in Puerto Rico!! I have my own channel. If you are still here hit me up to do a colabo!!
