Manu Ginobili 23 pts vs Detroit Pistons - G7 2005 NBA Finals

- Manu Ginobili helping the San Antonio Spurs win their 3rd NBA championship, scoring 23 points, and dishing 4 assists, against the Detroit Pistons of Chauncey Billups, Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, Rasheed Wallace and Ben Wallace.
Well, since it seems that Manu's career is over, I thought about posting his 2nd best performance in a Title game (after game 4 of the 2007 NBA finals).
Here, we get to see 28 year old Manu in his Full prime, being as aggresive and competitive as ever, dominating one of the toughest teams the NBA has seen.
Enjoy! All credit to ABC and the NBA. - Спорт
Ginobili should have been FINALS MVP.
The NBA still hates Manu for beating the USA Dream Team in 2004
definitely could have been. and maybe should have been. but its not like tim didnt deserve it either
Duncan averaged 20ppg, 14rpg and 2bpg Manu averaged 18.8ppg, 5.8rpg and 4asp. I'm not sure what people based it off of when they say Manu deserved the MVP. Duncan took over the 4th quarter. He willed them to that win after the Spurs were down. He literally coached them and set up the passes to Manu for that three dagger. That was all Tim Duncan orchestrating it right there.
I love Manu... he is my personal favorite athlete, but I don't think he deserved it as much as Duncan.
Sisa Duane what in fucks name are you blabbing on about? Ask Manu, he does not identify with white Americans. He identifies with the latin community - a community that is steeped in diversity.. fuck this "white" agenda. It has nothing to do with basketball.
obvio pa!
23/81 pts and he shuts down Rip Hamilton in the deciding game. Manu puts team above stats and all real knowledgable basketball people know he belongs in the Hall of Fame.
+Matthew Jimenez He's for sure a HOF'er
Bowen shutdown Rip idiot
Bullshit; I watched the game and Manu was the primary defender of Hamilton especially in the 4th quarter.
rip and billups were the two main scorers in that piston team
and i recall, parker and bullips couldnt exactly defend/beat each other
and big ben was stopping timmy, kind of...
it all went to prince + rip against manu and bowen, and the piston just couldnt stop manu
Yep
manu is so underrated its sad. manu was ridiculous in his prime. him and timmy were an incredible one-two punch in this game
and he honestly could have been MVP in this series
Tony parker too. Those teams were stacked.
2004/2005, gold medal with Argentina, NBA championship and best finals ever, not only MVP, but also he should have been awarded as the best Basketball player of the world that season.
Can’t agree more. He is one of all time greatest, a winner at every stage of basketball games.
Two teams with zero drama. No wonder it was a ratings disaster. We may never see another Finals like it.
This guy is the most underrated player in the NBA history by far, probably the entire sports history. He is the all time best shoot guide right next to MJ.
MJ and Kobe*
+fitofito1001 lmao wtf. Manu isn't even top 5, arguably not top 10
+fitofito1001 Nah he but he is a top 5 all time SG though behind MJ, Kobe, Drexler, and Wade.
Ernesto Hendrix He isn't better than Allen Iverson or Jerry West. One could argue that he isn't better than Ray Allen or Reggie Miller either
+Brandon Reed Manu is my fav athlete ever, but he is not better than MJ, Kobe, D-Wade, Jerry West, Drexler or AI (if you count him as a 2 guard). However, after them, I think its fair for him to be in the discussion for top 10 2 guard ever, even if basketball is more position-less now: Manu was a better defender and passer than Ray or Reggie, not to mention more rings.
Manu Ginobili is the most under appreciated NBA player of all time
Maybe around the league but not here in San Antonio, We love Manu!!!
How about the 🐐 he played with, in Timmy?
Because he is latino.
He was the MVP for me in that final!!!
Indeed!
Quite.
he is deserves to be a HALL OF FAME.
Romarch Mahinay he will be. Not in his first year of eligibility, but he definitely will be. He is perhaps the best sixth man ever and he has millions of fans on three continents.
that dude The Hall of Fame in basketball isn't the "NBA" hall of fame.
So, when you consider everything he's done internationally on top of what he's done in the NBA...
He absolutely is first ballot. No question about it.
totally agree, he won euroliga, nba and olympics... only donde by bill bradley, thats massive
@@iiGODLYWARRIOR Well he ended up being first ballot in his first year of eligibility
he should be MVP of the 2005 finals
Couldn't help but smile my head off at the end.. sweet memories.
The only stats in Ginobili’s mind...
Winning
That right! 👍
this ginobili was a beast
Miss this Ginobili with long hair. Seemed fearless playing with long hair. This the best Spurs team that year
And he did this against Prince who was one of the top perimeter defenders at that time. One of the most underrated players ever. I'd take prime Ginobili over prime Kobe. Ginobiliiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"The San Antonio Spurs are the NBA Champions". I never get tired of hearing those words.
And that is how a total winner shuts down a close game 7 in the NBA finals. Cold as ice.
Love Manu. What a fierce competitor. Ice in his veins. Clutch, passionate, and huge balls. Just another reason why I love this team.
And I ll never understand how they didnt give him the MVP
Such a passion for winning, that was what always amazed me.
Manu Ginobili was easily breaking one of the best defense in the entire history of the NBA in the finals. IN DAMN THE FINALS AGAINST ONE OF THE BEST DEFENSIVE TEAMS IN HISTORY. Let that sink in.
That Detroit was a beast
Well said. And Manu makes it look like a day in the office at his 3rd year in the NBA... 😲... What an incredible player. A true LEGEND.
Surely, not even the group of laimbeer can check manu, had they've been in the same era. Flagrant fouls can only stop manu, for a while that is.
Brent barry at 6:15 was like "Not now, my wifes watching"
+Sebastian Pecina that was the most gay thing that happened in nba
Ikr? That was awful to see
turns out the wife was watching Parker
😂
Oh shit your right.
This is one of the best NBA Finals Series in the decade
I love watching this Spurs moment/memory because this was when Ginobli made a name for himself in his prime! This was the Ginobli I loved watching when he was young! 1 more yr Manu with Spurs & with Timmy & Tony to get a 5th ring for u & for Spurs 6th championship! #RaceForSix!
He was the right owner of that MVP, but Duncan is also a legend to remember.
se lo merecía pero era mas que sabido que no se lo ivan a dar --- la bronca que después se lo dieron a parker!!!
Manu should have won mvp for that series. He was the spur's killer!
Tonight the Spurs will retired #20 in the high rafters next to the 5 Spurs NBA Championships banners. What a tribute it will be, What an explosive amazing under rated basketball player the NBA has seen. He made instant basketball fans over night. Tonight he will be the MVP in our hearts for ever. He will be missed for sure but not forgotton. Gracias Superman!!!!
I remember watching this game….I was at the night service at church….I kept walking to the back room to watch the game….low scoring but beautiful team basketball from both teams.
"Id like to be hugging them too", reporter asks another question.
as usual lol!!!
Manu certainly deserved a FMVP for this
my respects to best ever PF Timmy D but Manu deserved this Finals MVP trophy
I know Hakeem played center, but I´d take him over Duncan at PF any time, and maybe prime Kevin McHale.
Awarded or not, Finals MVP level player. Way more MVP level that Kawhi Leonard or Iguodala when they wins.
I want to see him win one more ring before he retires...
:(
It’s incredible how easy Ginobili would take the ball into the paint for a layup/dunk. In that year he had to be the most dominant pound for pound guard.
My favorite player of all time and the best 1 in my heart thank you for all the memories and celebrations this city had you will be missed.
No disrespect to Duncan but Ginobili deserve the MVP
Yeah but defense rebounding and shot blocking also matters. Duncan set the table in order for manu to have success. Facing double teams against the defensive player of the year ben Wallace, along with rasheed wallace, mcdysse And the big boys swarming and mauling duncan. Loved ginobili that series but he didn't show up on the road.
I'm here remembering the good days and the fact that we need him now.
high basketball IQ by Ginobili
Should have been Finals MVP. Manu always give my country Puerto Rico a lot of problems when we play against Argentina in international tournaments. What a player!!
What ginobilli does the last 10 seconds is brilliant. Anyone would have turned it over for the photo and he just thought about running out time. And then all the co-workers wanting to remove the Ballon is one of the best images of a final in recent times
when i satrted watching nba i was like i love theese guys the big trio from san antonio. then i realized that this man having too little time was the main reason why spurs are so attractive to me. manu always been and still in his 40s is the engine player, most dinamic , most aesthetic, most individually acomplished player (including passing , vision of the court and intelect) i have ever seen. not to mention his rings and other results
Whoa, so bloody well said!
Manu should've been finals MVP this series. it's all good though.
Como le afanaron el MVP a Manu en esta final, el tipo claramente definio el partido en el ultimo cuarto
the real MVP GINObili ladrones
5:40 sooo smart
Maybe with a more dunk ginobilli could be win finals mvp
MVP
This is rock star Manu... During this year he is arguably the best 2 guard in the game...
Look at the final score. You'd think its the second quarter these days. Miss it when the NBA had real defense. Teams like the Rockets and Warriors would be in for a rude awakening playing against these Pistons and Spurs.
Chris Coughlin Very true!!
Yeah I was thinking about that too. Cavs v. Spurs ended 110-114 yesterday, and through the whole match I saw almost no defense at all compared to these old games.
They don't grow defenses like this anymore. Detroit vs San Antonio had to be the last of the super defensive teams to go at it.
Yo because both of those teams couldn’t shoot for shit , no one in the pistons team could shoot better than the warriors , even in this play , they are just standing in the point , how are they gonna guard steph , klay and kd all together .
Classic Manu!!!
Love it
Can't wait to see him this season !
Happy Retirement Legend 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
That was a great NBA Finals that year pure basketball.
prime Ginobili
I remember watching these games as a kid with my dad those are good memories...
Manu is the man 💪
What a complete player he was. He had it all.
ginobili was an athletic freak
you gotta love the spurs respect for the pistons team after they won
Should’ve won the FMVP. One of the baddest man to ever played.
He definitely deserved the MVP's Title
This guy is now a legend, most iconic Spurs player ever
7:00 that's called loyalty
Manu my favorite player of all time
My fav manu(2005).
MVP MVP MVP!
That was a tough series for the Spurs. That piston team played defense like a team from the 90's
Man I miss finals like these
manu was the mvp in that finals!! why is so underrated???? just because is argentinian???
lol no he wasnt..if im not mistaken it was tim duncan
I know that was duncan, I say it really was manu the mvp, but they gave to duncan which is unfair!
un this days the nba hates manu for 30 points in athenas 2004
I remember watching this Finals; I'd say it was about even who should've won FMVP. Timmy was putting up 20 and 14 while being double and triple teamed and on two bad ankles.
Maybe partially bc h'es white, but the main reason Ginobili is underrated is because he played for the Spurs. Parker and Duncan are underrated as well. Price of playing excellent team ball. But thats neither here nor there. The unrelated point im trying to make is I love me some GINOBILIIIIIIII +charles barkley voice+
Missed you so much manu... my goodness..
He is the 2005 MVP of those finals he saved the Spurs in this series
Bowen's face at 5:49 like.. "awesome, man"
Ginobili should have been FINALS MVP no doubt.
Manu is the Real MVP in this Series....
what's wild watching duncan and realizing he's still just as good now as he was then, just in fewer minutes. most timeless player of all time, even more so than kareem because he still plays defense.
THE REAL MVP
No entiendo como no le dieron el MVP a Ginobilli en esa final. Impresionante! Grande Manu!
Long hair Ginobli is out of Marvel Comics!!!
Miss you Manu.
Y pensar que ginobili ahora es calvo jajaja mis respetos para esa leyenda desde Peru
Still brings tears to my eyes...
I Always say MJ is God, Sitting at his Right is Kobe, at his Left Manu.
people should say.. "mvp mvp mvp" when he was in the free throw line. i don´t say that Tim not deserved it, but 2005 MVP finals was Manu Ginobili
there was nothing like watching young Manu play. Truly a blessing to be able to watch it
I love TD, but we all know that MANU was the real mvp of that series.
How so? Notice how many open shots and open lane's there were for him because ben wallace rasheed and them were swarming tim Duncan? And once duncan was out there on there perimeter that lane wasn't so open so he had to pass it duncan for the jumper? And don't get me started on defense. Duncan set the table on both ends of the floor
GREAT finals
Manu secured 3 finals series, how many players can say that? Super duper underrated guy.
One of the best nba finals ever. Back when teams were aloud to play defense. Not just running up and down the court jacking up 3's. And fouls called if you breathe on someone, like now .
.. and pops couldnt find that defense, when most of the best defenders of the team were gone. It was the biggest reason, not only offense why the spurs were contenders for a long long time.
Great stuff. More videos, please!
GINOBILI MVP 2005 !!!
WE know who's the real Finals MVP that year. WE know. No worries though, this is a team game.
Yeah we know it was tim duncan, the guy who set the table, got double and triple teamed and still managed to scored 20.4 ppg. Got ginobili all those open lanes for easy dunks. Also there's defense, duncan averaged 14 rebounds and 2.3 blocks. It's not about who's more exciting but who's the most dominant and most effective on both ends of the floor.
Manu should have won finals mvp that year
I’ll always remember where I was in time for this playoffs because the phenomenal performances
volaba manu en esa epoca
the real mvp
real mvp 2007
Great game. I remember how excited I was watching it on TV.
GINOBILIIII
Fue el MVP de las finales y uno de los mejores del torneo
Manu the real mvp finals 2005
He was the MVP of this finals, a real shame they didn't give it to him
