I think the only way to counter Waluigi's secret to winning (his rickets) is to have random bonus stars on the next map

Eh, I really prefer the classic stars, and I think that's the better Mario Party experience. Random is a little harder to strategize around.
Jon must've gotten the Happening Star when he got the tree twice in one turn.
Yup, if he hadn't rolled a 1 when he landed on the tree he would have been tied for it.

I can't believe Jon got all three stars by the skin of his teeth.
1. If Lucah had won a single game that Jon had won, she'd have taken Mini-Game Star
2. If Jon didn't land on that bank space, Lucah would've gotten Coin Star
3. If Jon didn't get back to back ! spaces on that one turn when he got 2 stars, Lucah would've gotten the Happening Star.

Classic mini game stars really weight the bonus stars to people who are good at the game, while random makes it so anyone has a fair shot at bonus stars, so I think random for next game is good!

36:45 I can’t speak for anybody else, but I suggest going gradual. If these CPU were on Easy, put them on Normal. Going for Master is a massive leap in difficulty, so only do it if you want the bare-minimum chance at victory. As for the rules, don’t go Classic for Bonus stars. Sure, you only get 2 instead of 3 for 20 Turns, but the randomness makes it all the more fun. Also, there’s a Bowser Star, for the player who landed on the most Bowser Spaces.
Don’t forget, Chance Times are the biggest source of pain and/or joy in this franchise.

I agree about the stars! One of the best parts of Mario party is being in first then getting screwed because someone got a random bonus star 😅

Mario Party may be a relationship ender but with these two playing I think it’s making it stronger. Watching these two play help make my day better

Jokes aside I'm honestly really impressed with how close these last few rounds were, like it was literally neck and neck between her and Jon the whole time and it was awesome. Definitely looking forward to seeing more, Reese still played really well so good on her
0:20 There's a way to tell that it's a hidden block before it appears; the “squelch” SFX that usually plays when landing on other types of spaces, instead of the “bubbly” SFX that the blue space is usually associated with.
Is this only good when landing on it or does it make a different noise when walking past it? If it's the former then it's pretty useless knowledge (still a fun detail!). If you land on someone else's space and duel them before seeing if it's got a hidden block can you still tell by the sfx?

Seeing "Waluigi" and "Mario Party" in the same sentence just makes me think of the Waluigi Island map from Mario Party 3. That map is pure chaos!
But anyway, congrats on finishing your first game of Mario Party! This was a super fun little series. Yes, those bonus stars at the end were pretty bogus, but that's Mario Party sometimes!
You did amazingly well for your first game, I was honestly surprised Jon got all the bonus stars, I thought you would have had at least one of them. Good luck on hard mode!
If it were me, I'd save Master difficulty for the final board. Definitely don't go for Master if the second board is literally the second Mario Party board you've ever played.

Excellent game! Was very wholesome and fun to watch! You did great Lucah! Maybe do Master and Random Bonus Stars. From my experience I've seen the Ai make silly moves on Master so it could go either way perhaps.
The Random Bonus Stars option is best! i dont like the Classic Bonus Star because you can just count and know that you get a Bonus Star at the end. With Random Bonus Stars its much more exciting what will happen at the end!

Also who can forget the 'You have to get the horse off' back in Barbie's Horse Camp Adventyres or whatever it was called.
And yeah, it CAN be a tactical move to not buy a star. Like, if you’re somehow going past it, you have 3 stars and the coin lead, or 4+ stars, over the person in second, and you don’t think anyone else is going to pass it, there is a case for not buying it so you can keep your coins… but in literally 99% of cases, it’s best to buy a star if you have the money.
While they greatly upgraded the item shop from Super Mario Party by raising the Golden Pipe's price, one feature that is still sadly missing from is it randomness.
See, in the older games, whatever the item shop had in stock was random to a certain degree (being dependent on your placing, as was the items' pricing), so you were not always guaranteed to find an item. And because items are not all created equal, you really only bother to grab the best one, being the Golden Pipe in the vast majority of cases. It devalues the other items and eliminates strategical plays using the tools that you're given.
This is probably my biggest criticism with Mario Party Superstars.
14:48 I think the AI's difficulty only affects how well they perform in minigames and that it always behaves the same on the board, regardless of its skill level.

31:28 One of my friends' current DnD character is a dwarf Artificer named Wahlin based on both Wario and Eggman. He's also got a Steel Defender (a robot companion, basically) that looks like a Mecha Sonic-version of Waluigi named "Wahlin's Aggressor Averter", or "W.A.A." for short.

Recommend you stick to Normal/Hard, Master pretty much cheats.

I think that last minigame might have actually been the deciding factor. If it had been a 4 player minigame Lucah could have potentially pulled the win. What an exciting start to the LP!

I'm from Lazy Town's origin country and I watched that damn thing when I was younger! If I could find away to watch it again I 100%mwould watch it more!
For the next board probably best to go classic bonus stars, so lucah gets a feel for mentally tracking specific criteria and adapting a strategy, especially against hard/master AI.
That said with 4 boards remaining you could do a normal AI round, 2 hard AI rounds and 1 last master AI to gradually build the difficulty.
My suggestion would be normal Yoshi's tropical islands. Hard space land and horror land. And lastly Master mode peach's birthday cake. (Simple board with the meanest AI to balance factors)
This is super fun; I'm really enjoying getting to see your first real experience with the Mario Party series 😊 I'm down for either Hard or Master CPU next time, but I really think you should do random Bonus Stars next time! I think it's more fun and ups the anticipation to not know until the very end how the bonuses are going to be distributed.
Don't go for Master difficulty. You'll just end up frustrated. Maybe dial it up to Normal.

I don't mind random bonus stars, or classic bonus stars. But for sure, put the bonus stars on, they're fun and give hope to the second place person or... anyone, really.
Master is tough since in every game that has the highest difficulty level I generally feel that they’re not really that hard for some minigames that you’re really good at but if the game is really tough on your shoulders maybe stick with Normal I just know this very well because I’ve practiced lots of minigames & learning they’re strategies I’m genuinely used to play them on master but it’s just bragging rights if you’re that confident it really honestly doesn’t matter what difficulty level you play against you just play however you want ❤
I'm sad that I'm probably late on this, but I'd love to see the random bonus stars. It makes everything way more interesting, especially when you land on a red space and you're like "oh, well, it boosts my chances in case of a red star". This was fun to watch though. I kinda miss seeing TRG Mario Party, since the last one was way a while back and it was the crappy DS one. And Lucah, you did REALLY well against your hubby, considering how often he absolutely trounced everyone else in prior Mario Party games, even with Emile's ridiculous luck.
I think I prefer random Bonus Stars because it makes it less predictable who'll win, which fits the consistent RNG BS of Mario Party!
I have no evidence to back this mindset, but I'm largely convinced that Hidden Blocks are more likely to give Stars the closer you are towards 4th Place. That's what'd make the most sense to me, anyways.

It could be like VLR, except it’s luck instead of ESP, meaning Emile’s luck is so much stronger than Jon’s that it’s actually siphoning it.

I think random stars would be better for this playthrough, adds some excitement to the end of the game. And don't go harder than hard AI, the game will just basically be cheating at that point lol

You did a REALLY good job on your first board Lucah! It does make me kinda sad you didn't get any of the Bonus Stars cuz you were in the running for all 3 of them but Jon ended up sniping all of them in this last of batch turns. Those 2 happenings Jon got back to back with the Tree is why he got the Happening/Event Star
