I want to express my gratitude and appreciation to the men and women of the SFFD. Truly a job well done considering the exposures that only one firefighter was injured with cuts and lacerations but more importantly, no loss of life. At 4:00 am on a Saturday morning, thankfully the shelter-in-place made the area clear of crowds that normally would have been in the waterfront district of SF. This was a fierce battle that brought 150 firefighters and 60 fire fighting apparatus. Sure it's their job and they are expected to perform with precision but anything can happen at a fire scene and the best of the best rose to the challenge. Thank you!
Great work by the FD and the camera crew, lots of shots & none of the usual quick jerky cuts where we don't get to see any detail.....very nice. Are these " accidental fires " going to be more common now???
Great video and hands off to all the firefighters police officers who were there and great job on the fire from speeding. I was local volunteer fireman for St.helens Oregon for seventeen years.
The building C that burned held fishing equipment, like crab pots for the crab boats. I am happy that Buildings B and D that were food processing locations were saved and still have electricity. They won't have as much seafood to proccess if there is no equipment for the fisherman though, and we need to reopen restaurants so they have more business
@debandgary Wi Spoken like a true Trumper. Ignorant words spoken by an ignorant person who has no knowledge of facts, and who doesn't give a shit about facts anyway. Like the president, you have no concern or empathy for decent hard-working Americans who lost their property and their livelihoods, or for one of the most inclusive and beautiful cities on the planet. Like the president, your words are divisive and alienating... spoken only to drive us deeper down each other's throats, and further up each other's asses. Why??? For what purpose??? No wonder this country is going where none of us, including you, want to be.
Pier 45 is behind the row of restaurants on Fisherman's Wharf, across from all their Warehouses containing fish and supplies. Spent a lot of my life there as my Poppa owned Borruso's Lighthouse #5 restaurant for 70 years. I remember walking thru 45 after the 1989 earthquake. A lot of damage
What a completely stupid and unsubstantiated charge for anyone to make when there is still smoldering fire burning and no investigation started. Sometimes I think that people are so desperate for attention on social media that they will make complete asses of themselves. And do you actually know people who have committed arson to collect insurance? It's not a gamble worth the risk of 20 years in prison.
matrixab435 used to be , operative words used to be , a great City. Now its a politicially correct shit Hole. Where the Dept Of Public Works actually have shit units. They Go around all day cleaning up homeless “ squaters “ shit off the cities shitty streets.
Good job SFFD. Now I'm just wondering who's been trying to buy the building and who benefits from the loss/destruction/insurance payout??? First guess is whoever develops it. What's the going rate for the pier? $1000/sq foot?
Don't worry, he's wearing one of those wonderful American firefighter helmets. Medieval technology in the 21st century, guaranteed to provide maximum protection against everything and anything, including evil radar rays.
It used to be a great department. Then they started hiring split-tails. Glad I retired in 85. A female chief. God help us. That was a 3 alarm fire in my day.
In all my long years on earth, I have never before seen a Fire Department where every member of the department is wearing a brand-new Turn-Out gear/Bodyguard suit. The City of San Francisco must have had a lot of leftover taxpayer money to spend this year. Hell, even some of the Chief Officers were wearing helmets that were painted whiter than white, they was so new.
Let the blaming game begin. Homeless are the easiest to blamed. Remember the Paradise fire in 2018. They try to blamed the homeless also. Turnout it was the PG&E who cause the fire that killed 85 citizen and 52,000 people Evacuated.
The 4 buildings on pier 45 were built around 1926. Building C is the one that burned. B and D were food processing locations. Alioto's Restaurant was saved, the Museum was saved. Building C was storage for fishing equipment. So the fishing boats will be hurt even more. Crab pots for example, go for about $300 each. This is sad. I'm glad my dad isn't alive to see this. These buildings were almost 100 years old. Everyone who visits SF wants to go to Fisherman's Wharf. They also were able to save the WW2 boat Jeremiah O'Brien
Well, equipment has been left unused for a period of months. Without proper maintenance, accidents happen. Sure, there should absolutely be an arson investigation, but it's more likely something broke down or sparked and, with no one in the business, it spiraled out of control too quickly.
Well no more car shows there for a while.they been trying to get that water front building there for years.cause those displays of the old stuff didn't bring in any money

@E. Lewis Basher You will find out one day my friend. I hope that you are prepared for it.
Huge kudos to the News Photographer for getting such great footage. Been there done that nice job.

GREAT JOB , SAN FRANCISCO FOR PUTTING OUT SUCH A STRONG BLAZE , THUMBS UP TO YOU S.F. COUNTY
@M A It did not take them hours to arrive LOL? what are you smoking ?
@M A I think he's being sarcastic.
SF County haha that's odd. Yes it's true though. SFCOFD
The ladder truck got scorched. Too close to the building. Firefighters had to handle the biggest fire in years. Brave people.
it's a funeral pyre, just in case you were wondering where all the bodies were...................
Nice footage! Isn't often when you see a fire that big in SF! (I live about 25 miles from SF)
white hat lady is Jeanine Nicholson SF's fire chief. she spent over two decades working on trucks. truly a bad ass and a hero
Truly a lesbo.....
Ive noticed that a requirement for Chief is a vagina

😢 my favorite pier for souvenirs.
Actually you haven’t likely been here. It’s a fish processing plant.
Gonna be lots of restaurant fires before this crisis is over....
Crazy.

Two major warehouse fires in one week; both in California.

Firefighters not wearing masks, the Mayor and Governor gonna give them a citation!
Good job news crew. Would be even better if you had a drone. 👌
the way that pump op got cut off when he tried to speak makes me relate to this video too much
that sweet sweet insurance money just in time for next months payments
The investigation will be take several months at the least and several years at worst to be completed .
I hope there are criminal indictments. It's not worth risking firefighters lives (among others potentially), to make money.
It was like 2,000,000pound of repairing
Great job! How did fire start?
They will figure out a reason that makes it good for them. That’s for sure 🤨😡
