Its on the unrealistic end though. Most knights and Masters just train in 1 form of lightsaber combat. I cant even recall a single individual who has used all 3 types of sabers as one saber.

I feel like ever since the double bladed saber was shown in episode 1, people have been trying to think of the dumbest most inefficient light saber possible.
The only way I could see that lightsaber feasibly working is if you pressed a button on one of the handles and the other one jets exactly into place and tracks it while levitating perfectly so the beam can connect properly. Some rules with using it would be make sure before pressing the button that makes em sync up, that the proper ends are facing each other a reasonable amount, and it only works within a certain distance.
Well if you look at one of the Jedi Temple Guards in the Kanan comics, the centre of the hilt is the same yellow as the blades. While obviously a colourisation issue, in my head canon this particular temple guard is using a lightsaber pike that resembles the war dragon rider’s lightsaber.
How I imagine it worked was, when it wasn't ignited, it would be a single hilt. Igniting the blade would allow the hilt to pull apart, creating the center blade.
So does the middle bean bend or not? If not then I can imagine it would very hard to maintain to wield it! It would be like trying to hole a imagination stick that cannot bean but you are running and holding it at the same time!

The third blade served two purposes one to block any incoming attack directly towards the hilt of the light saber and two to act as a energy conduit similar to that electrical purple current thing that connects the two engines of a pod racer. It’s likely that the prototype was scrapped in the in favor for there being two designated Khyber crystals built into one hilt. This is my interpretation of what this light saber could’ve been. As for the character himself I would really like to see a character that looks like him appear in the Mandalorian as he seems to fit in that general time frame for the Star Wars universe as well as the shows aesthetics.
How often does Star Wars host competitions like this? Sure this event was decades ago but im wondering if they've done this again every once in a while.
