- Watch this to see some of the best snorkeling 🤿 and scuba diving in Asia!
Also a real foodie's dream with some of the best night markets in Southeast Asia!
Consisting of two land regions divided by the South China Sea, Malaysia comprises more than 850 islands, of which 394 are located in the state of Sabah, in Borneo. Most of the Malaysian coasts and islands are fringed by spectacular coral reefs. This exceptional geography offers a huge variety of snorkeling spots, and the opportunity to see and encounter one of the richest sea life on earth. While snorkeling Malaysia, you could encounter all sorts of marine creatures, from sharks to manta rays, as well as clownfish, starfish, moray eels and sea turtles.
Malaysia, some of the most pristine and vibrant coral reefs in Southeast Asia
Malaysia is part of the Coral Triangle, a region that concentrates the greatest underwater biodiversity in the world. It is estimated that it contains 30% of the coral reefs and 35% of the reef fish species on earth.
More than 350 coral species are found in Malaysia, and Sabah (a state of Malaysia located on the northern portion of the island of Borneo) contains more than 75% of all Malaysian reefs.
The weather in Malaysia is tropical -hot, humid, and rainy year-round-, with a large amount of rainfall during the annual monsoon seasons: from April to October in the southwest, and October to February in the northeast.
The best times to practice snorkeling in Malaysia are during January/February on the west coast, June/July on the east coast, and April in Sabah and the islands of Malaysian Borneo.
Air temperatures range from a mild 20°C to 30°C average throughout the year, while water temperature average is 26 to 30°C. Visibility in the water is generally clear, and can reach up to 50 meters on perfect days.
Peninsular Malaysia is assuredly a great snorkeling destination. However, the real snorkeling must in the country is with no doubt Malaysian Borneo, and particularly the state of Sabah.
This area has become well established as one of the finest dive and snorkeling locations in Asia. The small islands offshore Borneo are the perfect travel destination for tourists that like to explore and snorkel in remote places full of wildlife.

Yes coral triangle. Malaysia, indonesia, philippines. We have mega diversity which other south east asian countries can only dream off.
Awesome drone shots. Also underwater shots too.
I was there 5 years ago. Went to Pulau Mengalum and Mantanani. Great food and fruits, the tarap was said to be only available in Sabah. Lots of activities too, brought my kids to a firefly night tour.
Thanks for sharing! That is great you did the Firefly tour. I wanted to do it but we never got the chance.
Yes those two islands are awesome. But the others near semporna are great too. Mabul island is a bit messy (trashy) due to refugees or sea gypsies living on the island. Malaysia should move them out. Similarly on gaya island.
Yes, Sabah is indeed one of the beautiful state in msia.Famous for its seafoods n a bit laidback suitable for holiday makers.
Thank you so much for watching? Are you from Sabah?
No,im frm penang.went to kundasang sabah in 2016😂
Beautifully Islands❤
It really is! Thank you for watching, Sophia. I hope you get a chance to see Borneo!
In 4 states without sultan as ruler, there is a governor and chief minister. For the other 9 states with malay sultan, they take turn every 5 years to be king.
What underwater camera did you use?
❤
Beautiful. You captured the traditional dance well, with the bamboo poles moving quickly from side to side. Where is the beach at 6:13?
That beach is at Shangrila Rasa Ria Resort about an hour north of Kota Kinabalu. Are you interested to go?
That traditional dance is so cool to watch!
@@thecubbages Yes, probably later this month. I'd like to snorkel, and checkout the highlands around Kundasang.
We're planning to fly to kk next year in January. For a few days to a week.
Where was you on that long beach after you told us kk was to crowded?
That is the Shangri-La Rasa Ria Hotel. Very nice resort with a private beach. Incredible pool 🏊♀️!
Could you recommend some special places to go?
I highly recommend booking with Big Fin Divers outside of Kota Kinabalu. Also the Tanjong Ari night market is nice!
Which hotel did you stay in? :)
We staying in Big Fin Divers for the diving
Sabah does not (never did) have King/Queen. Only the Yang di-Pertua Negeri (Head of State) and a government with the Chief Minister as the leader.
Thank you so much! This is very helpful. Apparently my tour guide told me wrong. So that is good to know.
😡 *Promosm*
Thanks for watching!
