- Here's my first taste of humic acid for the lawn. Of course I'm not actually drinking it but applying it to the front yard as a new product I'm introducing to my lawn care program. This Humic acid/fulvic acid from Simple Lawn Solutions helps nutrient uptake and also helps condition the soil in the long run for the best lawn and grass possible.

Ryan, did you see a difference big or small after applying??
I will have to try it. Did some restoration on my front yard this spring and it’s coming along. Love the UA-cam channel Ryan. Keep up the fine work.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I have been looking at this product on Amazon for months. So very glad you are giving it a try.
Great! I hope that gave you an idea of what it's all about.
Thanks Ryan! I just purchased this from your link below to help you out - fellow UA-camr here so I know all about that :-) I trust you and Allyn when it comes to product recommendations.
Thanks so much!
Yes sir humic acid is the real deal ! We are learning more and more about what we can do with it in turf and landscape.... the Agriculture world has used it forever... hope you enjoy your results
Great vid! Nice sprayer! And yes, this stuff is expensive which is what has held me back in the past so... thanks for the Simple Lawn Solutions recommendation!
Looking forward to try it out. Thanks a lot. I really enjoy watching your videos. Keep em coming.
A subscriber from Portugal
Good stuff. Thanks for the info. It's nice to have an affordable option to some of these products.
That plum crazy Challenger RT 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Thanks Ryan! Great video! Excited to see if it helps.
Humic acid is crazy good. Connor got me hooked. Its the best thing you can do for your lawn.,
I just applied Lawn Solutions Liquid Seaweed and Humic Acid, along with Jackpot - Fertilizer Micronutrient Mix, from Amazon. My lawn is crispy from the hot Texas sun. Temps. in the 100’s here for the next ten days at least. Whew! I will update when I see improvements. Watering once a week for 30 minutes each station. Setting on hose-end sprayer at 3oz. per gallon of water.
Mmmm...humic....taste the success. Seriously though, I've very pleased so far with the color & quality of my lawn since I started using humic acid. I'm going to do a root comparison at the end of the year as well.
cant wait to see the results
Great video man, look forward to seeing the results over the coming weeks.
Hey Ryan! I think you'll like the results. my yard is still green whereas my neighbor's lawns are turning brown. Kinda funny as their yards were green last year while mine was brown lol
Good to hear!
Great product!!!! I have used this twice now and it's great for seeding new grass!!!!
Good to hear you've had great results.
I am going to dethatch, aerate and reseed here in a couple weeks. Would this be something I would put down after I reseed?
Was on the fence, you've helped me to decide. Oh...and you've done it again, "Looking out for those on a budget"👍.
Ryan Knorr Lawn Care Consider it done.
Ordered as well through your link. Thanks Ryan!
Ryan Knorr Lawn Care thanks for being original and not using what everyone else is doing. ✌️
George Popa I totally agree!
Ryan, I love your channel and the awesome information you provide. But with this video, I feel there seems to be a misconception. This product is $18.79 for a quart, doesn't that make it more expensive than other brands, for example the N-ext brand that retails at $20 a gallon? What would be really cheap is to make Humic acid at home using water soluble humic acid powder, that's going to be an awesome video for those on a budget!
I used this and it worked amazing on my lawn! I recommend for everyone...
Great to hear!
@Connor Ward introduced me to Humic Acid. I went with the granular like what he used on one of his videos. I will be applying again on the fall.
Granular is something I'm still curious about too.
Added to my cart through your link. Will purchase soon . All these ferts, etc are really confusing me...lol. I watch you, grass daddy, LCN and GCI turf. You guys are all great. It's so hard to find time. How you guys have the time baffles me but I love it. Just the time to record and edit is impressive. Thanks for all your efforts.
Thank you! I realize there's tons of products out there today but just like everyone else I'm always trying to experiment. I have a list a mile long of video things I need to get done so most of the time I feel like a chicken with my head cutoff. I love creating and working in the yard so I wouldn't have it any other way! I truly appreciate your support and watching the videos.
Its interesting that there is a small community around lawn care isnt it? I watch those exact same channels and then some :) those guys all comment on each others videos too.
It is a fun and I think the community is growing quite a bit. I look forward to what it can become.
Thanks for continuing to put out awesome content!
I appreciate that! As always, thanks for watching. :)
Ryan you should make a video about Nature’s Lawn product. I tried the Aerify Plus and did so good in my lawn!
Love the channel thank you! Can you recommend a video that helps me understand the process you use to maintain color through out the spring and summer ? I have fertilized and now it’s been a month and the color is starting to go lighter. Should I hit it with iron or ?
Just order some thank you for the coupon code and just subscribed! Keep up the awesome videos
Thumbs up for Pete @ GCI
Great video Ryan! Really appreciate the great information. I’m thinking about applying humic acid to my lawn. I dethatched and overseeded late August and threw down starter fert and milorganite mid September. Is it a good idea to apply the humic acid now (October 1st and live in Eastern Iowa). Thanks for all the great content you make available!
You are the man!!!.. (Is that a challenger RT??! ) after checking out your videos am more confident on working on my lawn. Thank you.
Oh yeah I added some to my tea, I like a little spice
I just put this down a couple days ago. I was watching blades green up before I had the app fully applied.
how was the out come and was it truly that effective?
Some info from the Custom Liquid Solutions website to help clarify application rates:
What is pump sprayer application rate for lawns?
Label says 4oz per 1000 sqft, but also says 32 oz bottle covers 3,200 sqft.
Yes with a pump up sprayer it will go longer than 3,200 square feet. With the hose end sprayer you use more volume because you wash the product into the root zone while it is connected to the hose. A pump up sprayer is foliar feeding and it goes much further. We apologize for the confusion with the directions. Use 4oz per 1000 sqft with a pump up sprayer. If it was used with a hose end connection sprayer then the dial should be set on 3 oz.
I need one of those Chapin sprayers.
Your sprayer setup is pretty nifty in my opinion. For smaller jobs though, I like this unit.
Ryan Knorr Lawn Care. Yeah I need a small one for small stuff like the edges and spot spraying. Spot spraying? Spot spraying is for the birds. Ants gone still?
Connor Ward not to interrupt your question to Ryan but I wrote down the insecticide you recommended. Great tip. Thanks😀
I have not seen the ants back at all!
Good stuff Bro, I'm a believer too!
And you're always a pioneer!
Hi, I am following your videos and it helps me thx. I did not see how you deal with weed? crabgrass and other weed. thx
This is not a normal comment!!! But so refreshing to see people wearing loose fit jeans and not skin tight jeans or whole thigh exposing shorts for a change!!!!
Hi Ryan, I wonder if I can add another nutrients for the grass, like sea kelp, and phosphorus since I reesed it my lawn 40 days ago.
What should I use to get the lawn thick. Whats the best combo for iron potassium and other nutrients this late in June/
Bought organic lawn what other suggestions for July?
Can't do soil test now, doing the best on budget.
You should give MicroLife organics. They sell humates on top of their line of fertilizers and they are nothing short of awesome. Their products along with Green Valley fert brought my yard back to life. After the 53” of rain that Hurricane Harvey dropped, fungus completely destroyed my grass. Thankful for the find products listed above.
Really? First time? I woulda thought you've been using it for years. Small amounts over long term use will change the soil structure and create more top soil. Humic and fulvic acid are super beneficial to lawns and soil.
Yep just getting into this game but I look forward to it!
I have same sprayer but your wand is different did you do an upgrade please advise looks like it is much better than original wand..
My lawn is struggling, it is browning and melting out with some red thread. I believe its perennial rye mix for the pacific north west. What can I do to get it from going dormant and get growth?
2 questions. 1. Why does using a pump sprayer use less product per 1000 SF? (label says 4oz/1000SF for pump sprayer and 10oz/1000SF for hose). 2. What is the difference between root hume and soil hume (with seaweed)? Thanks!
Can i use this product then put down liquid aeration? If so do i have to wait anytime in between the two?
Hey Ryan! I bought this but didn’t put it on the soil before laying down sod… can I place it on 2 week old sod?
Hey if this is applied by tank spray app does it need to be watered in after application?
If I’m growing my new grass should I wait till everything grows in to put this down?
My pucker factor tripled when you shook it by the R/T😂
Ryan,
Will you sell humic, and iron individually as opposed to your starter pack.
Thanks,
Dave Lee
Can you use the dye with this product to indicate where you've sprayed?
Do you have before and after shots with the products you use?
which Chapin do you have? looks like mine but you are getting a much bigger wider spray then I do out of mine, did you buy a separate nozzle?
Thoughts on applying carbon earth stressx in 90 degree weather. I water regularly.
Just bought that and the liquid aerate on Amazon. Cant wait to spray it on, to bad i still have snow on the lawn :( lol
Might need to wait just a bit...haha
I know it’s the garage but, with the fridge in the background, it looks like the hemi-dodge is parked in the kitchen. 🤘
I wouldn't mind that haha
Do you know what to use on brown spot. I’m on the east coast in sc
Hi Ryan, does it need extra water( irrigation, rain) or the dilution is good enough?
I know this is not one of your most recent videos but hopefully you can answer a question for me . If I buy the gallon one because it's cheaper in the long run how long will it last before it expires I don't have a large yard so the gallon will probably last me two seasons
LCN loves humic acid.Connor Ward swears by it.growing 7” grass roots and some pretty decent Cottonwood tree roots in his lawn after years of using humic acid.
It's good stuff. Don't expect overnight results but it works for sure. Slow and steady.
Hi Ryan, should I cut my grass before applying this?
Used your links and bought this stuff and the aeration stuff. I’m expecting miracles, rainbows, and pots of gold from this stuff. Just kidding. I’ve been wanting some decent good humate for awhile. Although I debated to get the stuff with seaweed or not but got this stuff.
Awesome! I've been enjoying it and very easy to use. I feel like it definitely helped with establishing my renovation so quickly last year.
Great channel really good explanation of this product!
How does it affect your soil if your spraying it on the grass leaves I'm confused
Just bought a bag of Humic Dg made by the Andersons from a local landscape center. 50lbs for 49.99. It’s a granular product. I’ve heard great things about humic acid actually helping to loosen up clay soils and helping with water retention and helping with summer drought stress. Gonna do my first application in August I’m sure it will take a few apps till I notice results.
Awesome! I have heard the same for clay soils.
I started using Jonathan greens love my soil not realizing how much calcium is in the product. Based on my soil results I’m already way to high on calcium so decided to go with the humic Dg. Love my soil has humates in it also and seems to do the same things as humic acid.
That's why those soil tests are important for sure.
Ryan Knorr Lawn Care yeah soil savvy tests are great. I think I’m making to many changes though so I’m a little nervous about my results next spring. Haha.
Let me know how it works for you. I was thinking about trying it as well.
that stuff smells yummy
My dog leaves dead spots in my tall fescue lawn where she urinates. I’ve tried deluding with water after she finishes, but the brown spots don’t go away. I saw in another video where someone mixes RGS and Humic 12 with water and applied over area where the dog urinated, and seemed to work. Do you have any recommendations on what to do? I’m not willing to give my dog any medication to adjust nitrogen in her urine. My lawn looks great everywhere else and these brown spots are driving me crazy. PLEASE HELP!
Can I apply this now in the fall. Temps are in the 40s
I've been on the fence as well about jumping into humic acids. I didnt want to spend a ton of money when I wasn't sure if it was right for me. I bought a 2lb package of teravita sp-90 off amazon. 8oz humic acid to the gallon makes a concentrate, so it goes a long way. Was like 25 bucks. Mixed that in the chapin hose end sprayer with some sea kelp. Cheap application, waiting to see some visible results
That's a good recommendation as well.
Can you share a link to that product? I'd be curious to look into a more cost effective concentrate with a lower cost per application.
Shawn Jamison 2 Lb TeraVita SP-90 Humic Acid 100%... www.amazon.com/dp/B00912FRO2?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
I did the same, have done two applications over the last few months. We had a huge drought in upstate ny and my lawn held up better then most.. won't attribute it all to that but sure didn't hurt.
Darin Jenkins gives me something to look forward to then. I've just gotten my first app down a little over a week ago
Thanks for showing us something affordable to try! I have a question you might be able to help me with, have you ever applied lime to your yard or heard anything about it? Any input would be appreciated!
I have not but it kind of depends what your pH is and if you need it or not. A soil test would be helpful to know for sure.
Is humic acid ok to apply during hot summer,FL?
Does this product line also have iron spray
what about watering after application?
For those of you guys just watching this video, I heard you're supposed to use humic acid with nitrogen(or any N-P-K fertilizer) as it super charges the effects so you'll get more bang for your buck.
Elobrate please. Can I mix kelp, nitrogen and humic acid together as foliar?
@@Sp001test yeah, that should be no problem. Use them together or divide up the nitrogen and then add the kelp and humic after
Do you apply this before or after fertilizer ?
I've just put down my first application of this plus their Soil Loosener. Simple to use, not sure of any results yet. Product line seems very similar to N-ext products but at a way more affordable price. Would be nice to see a video comparing the two product lines
I'll try to work on that. Thanks!
Ryan Knorr Lawn Care
Thanks Ryan. Love your videos btw.
Do you have to water it in after?
Can I apply it with tenacity?
Uhh I dont know if i mixed it right. Puking blood last 3 days and i havent pooped in a week now.
Im wondering what the fluoridated & chlorinated water effects it?
How do I find a guy like you to come check out my lawn in Northern
Jersey? I've go lots going on and need some expert advice. My lawn would
be a great how to fix over time as it has everything possible going on.
I moved in in Oct 2019 and have done lots to get it from horrible to
bad but still a long way to go.
Good Video
Ryan, don't you think it would have been better to have poured the mixture through the screen provided with your sprayer. Looked to me like you poured the go juice into the sprayer and then put the clean scree on top, then the lid. IIRC Pete poured his mix through a sieve or screen. That yard is looking good on camera.
How often could / should you use humid acid on your lawn?
Do those mixing instructions make sense?
Does it affect lawn ph ?
Cool.
Looking at the quad-photo in the intro and the top left corner photo - I bet your neighbor hates you just making their lawn look so horrible, at least next to yours. I think I'd be throwing parties at your house if I was your neighbor. :0)
I came here after the soil liquid aeration video. I was hoping you'd have included your results and post if you were happy with product and some before/after results. Reading other post below though, I think I'm sold on both. I already have humic and fulvic acids in my fertilizer for this year, but this will be part of my purchases for next year and I'll drop it from my fertilizer and get rid of the all-in-one product.
Did you water after the application?
Hi. My lawn has a 20ft by 20ft spot that is very dry as it is full sun and highest spot on the lawn. I am able to easily get down to about 2-3in and then it’s hard and possibly clay. Grass dies by end of summer unless i water everyday. My plan ... put down Liquid Aerating Soil Loosener- Aerator Soil Conditioner to make soil softer, core aerate, overseed and top dress with soil 1 week after, then right after core aeration add milorganite mixed with The Andersons Organic Humic DG. Thoughts?
That sounds like a good plan
Ryan, saw the video and wanted to try this product out. When doing a fall Reno and over seed, when would you recommend spraying this? Before seed during or after( 1,2,3days/weeks)
You could put it down on the soil just before seeding and that would be fine...or you can also wait and pair it with a fertilizer application after the grass is starting to come up. Either will work or both.
its been a while since you used it. do you still recommend it?
Hope you can help. Going to start making videos soon. What editing software do you use.
Thanks
Final Cut Pro
Hey Ryan
How would you get rid of some very small spots of Bermuda in my Kentucky 31?
Love ur channel!
I'll have to defer on that one. I'm not actually sure.
Controlled burn will work
I'm sorry Ryan, i mean humic dg PGF fertilizer on new seed.
Ryan,
I have been following you for a while and you do an amazing job explaining things. I am currently following LCN cool season plan. I live in Oregon and last year I purchased a bio-stimulant pack. They no longer ship there products to Oregon. My question is what products from simple solutions or another company I could use that are similar to the n-ext products like:
Humic 12, RGS, 0-0-2, air-8, detach etc..
Thank you for your time.
Hey! They aren't meant to be exact replacements for each other or that was never really intended but....
Soil Hume would be very similar to RGS
Root Hume would be closer to Humic 12 but the GCF has a little higher percentage if I remember correctly
Air8 is a unique product in my opinion
Soil Loosener for simple lawn really helps water to be used more efficiently so I use it in this way when soil gets dry and crusty
There's no direct comparison for dethatch but there are some DIY recipes out there if you look for them
Ryan Knorr Lawn Care thanks Ryan for the information. I will be ordering those products. Do you have a store or code I can use so you get credit for it?
Also, any particular detach product you can suggest?
Lastly, I have an area that I will like to try some Kentucky Blue Grass. I live in Oregon (cool season grass). I know you have Rye Grass an recently re-do portion of your lawn with KBG. Are u like in it more that Rye Grass? What would u suggest?
Thanks in advance. I know u are busy.
After spraying / applying solution can you please advise on watering, do you water immediately after or do you have to wait a designated period of time before watering?
Water to the soil right away is fine
Did you use the entire 2.5 gallons on your lawn?
~Hey Ryan have you ever tried the grainal formula I just wondering if I should go to a big box store or Amazon and how'd they worked for you.
I have not personally but I have heard good things about The Andersons Humic DG.
do you also do talstar applications for mosquitos? if so, can you mix talstar with this stuff? (to save time and be efficient)?
I'm honestly not sure. I don't currently spray anything for bugs.
Didn’t mention but when would be the next watering ?
I saw that there were some twisters in your state. Hope all is well bro🤙
Yeah just east of here a few days ago. Thanks for checking in!
