If you’re like me and haven’t played Diablo 4 since the launch of the game you’ve likely heard that the devs have been working hard to address community feedback and improve the game, from quality of life to progression as well as providing interesting new experiences with seasons.
Now as an MMO player and a fairly average ARPG enjoyer I’ve actually never really gotten into seasons in any ARPG, I’d always just play eternal, from my point of view I didn’t like the idea of making temporary progress which was definitely down to my MMO player brain being obsessed with some kinda idea of permanent progression.
In this video that will change as I’ll be playing through the entirety of Diablo 4’s Season 2, I’ll beat every boss in the game check out all the new content, get to level 100 and talk about the positive changes since launch as well as provide feedback for things I’d like to see improved for Season 3.

Diablo 4 Season 2 description
A NEW SEASON JOURNEY AWAITS-Team up with the Vampire Hunter Erys (voiced by actress and film producer Gemma Chan), to take on a new threat to Sanctuary in the latest seasonal quest line filled with blood thirsty vampires.
o Gain all new vampiric powers that provide a wide variety of dark, powerful skills that enable new builds and let you fight like a vampire in the world of Sanctuary. Vampiric powers can be gained through obtaining a new resource called Potent Blood, and require matching Pact Armor.
o Battle new Blood Seekers, the former champions that have succumbed to the Dark Master - corrupted by the Vampire lord, these enemies look and behave like player characters and can use familiar skills and powers to fight you.
o Experience the Blood Harvest Seasonal Event which takes place across multiple regions in Sanctuary throughout the season, and increases your chances of receiving Potent Blood and Pact Armor drops to aid in your fight against the bloodthirsty foes.
o Test your vampiric powers against the blood-curdling Lord Zir, the grand Vampire Lord who rules over them all. May the powers of strength be with you to defeat this uber boss!
QUALITY OF LIFE-In addition to rich seasonal content, many improvements were made to the overall Diablo IV experience, both during the Seasonal Questline and during the Endgame.
o Skip the Campaign is now available much sooner requiring only the Prologue to be completed on any character to allow earlier access to Seasonal content.
o Gain XP and reach Level 100 approximately 40% faster compared to Season of the Malignant.
o Improvements to Nightmare Dungeons include teleportation to the interior of the dungeon, increased monster density, more durable NPC companions, and reduced backtracking.
o Endgame experience has been greatly enhanced with the introduction of the Boss ladder, as players will be able to target farm the new and returning 5 Endgame bosses for Uniques and Uber Uniques which drop at a much higher rate. Legion Events and World Bosses will spawn more frequently, among other end-game improvements.
o Lots of Item and inventory management adjustments, such as making Gems a crafting material, reduced overburdening inventories and causing unnecessary trips into town, and preventing
players from losing their progress on a HC character from connectivity issues via changes to Scrolls of Escape.
o Mounts now move faster, are more agile, and have the ability to charge through blockades.
o And much more, including updates to towns, improvements to Events and monster density, changes to Elemental resistances and status effects, and UI and UX features.

remove super niche stats on items and bring in an itemfilter - these two things would already drastically improve the game.
Exactly. There are too many to look through and they are all overly specific. Its a headache to sort through all your gear.

I was very iffy on seasons in D3 at first but then it eventually came to be the only way I could enjoy playing it. I think a lot of how enjoyable seasons are to play comes down to how good the theme and mechanics are. If they're not great or there's just not enough to them, then it feels extremely meh to play. But if they're of sufficient quality and quantity, then seasons are amazing.
One of the things I liked best about D3 seasons ( I don't know when they implemented this) - was the ability to take a new seasonal character and start it when I felt powerful. I.E. not have to start the campaign as a gimp. You got to choose the nightmare level you wanted to play in. So either you were uber powered or it was a massive fight. Your Choice.
Does your season character convert to a normal one when the season ends? Like in D3?
I've not played D4 but this does look fun (As a long term fan of ARPG's, although I am not sure it will top modded Grimdawn).
However I do wish they would just fold all this new content, vampire storyline/powers and blood harvests into the main game/eternal because like many ARPG players I don't like resetting every season. In both MMO's and ARPG's I often play just one main for years and power-game it to the max.
I will NEVER GIVE THEM ANOTHER PENNY ....
I WILL SAY, the blood harvests are a massive improvement for the flow of gameplay, and made it feel less of a chore and just fun monster killing

Seasons are interesting. The way I approach it as someone that plays MMOs is as if I'm creating a new alt. I couldn't imagine making multiple characters a season though
thats fine but to essentially make a alt every 3 months and go through the same map and skills etc over and over just ewwww to me. trust me ive played 300hrs of POE and while i did like resetting for like a year the repetition eventually caught up with me to the point where i just quit the game entirely. tbh i feel like they could of EASILY made this entire season without any wipe and people still wouldve loved it cuz new powers and bosses ( loot ) change ur build a lot. then u also have a decently long seasonal story to play through. its how Destiny 2 manages there seasons and I LOVE IT.

If the game was good making multiple characters would be the norm. People seem to not understand the reason the "seasonal" feels so much better in D4 is because the base game is really bad and they are adding mostly QoL improvements that make the game just simply more complete. It STILL feels like it's a early-access beta game, it needs many many more improvements. If the game was complete everyone that enjoys eternal realm style gameplay and having their character maxed out would still be wanting to play eternal realm, seasonal is for the racers, the speed runners and the guys who constantly re-roll (At least normally, in a completed game). They still need to fix a ton of things, but I do give them credit for making massive improvements but I feel it's lost on most people that they are less massive improvements and more patching existing features that were never completed properly. I still feel the classes are extremely lacking in balance and skill diversity, the skill trees are extremely basic, the itemization is probably the worst i've seen in any popular ARPG, the monster diversity is still extremely meh, the "new" seasonal mechanics are literally a re-skinned blue/green helltide, and re-skinned glyphs which shows a real lack of creativity and originality on blizzards part and for me gives me another thing I really hate about this game which is being absolutely forced into certain gameplay loops such as having to do Helltides to upgrade your gear, you HAVE to do blood harvest to upgrade your blood powers, you HAVE to do NM dungeons to upgrade Glyphs, it's very much forcing the players into doing mechanics they may or may not enjoy. Very very frustrating for me personally I want to be able to play the game however I want and feel like I'm improving my character not boxed into a tunnel vision of required grinding a specific mechanic to improve my character. It IS better, but overall it's still maybe a week worth of gameplay and most players are done until next season.... I am very very disappointed but I do expect it to be a completed game V1.0 full release around season 7 or 8 so that's neat.... the only real problem there is by that time they will release a DLC and likely request another 40$ from your wallet. I'll stick to PoE and Last Epoch.

Honestly they should just make Diablo an MMORPG, where there's no level limit but only in PvE. I also hate progress wipe, I loved Diablo II but still couldn't manage to play it from 0 to lv90+ more than a few times.
S2 is a blast. I enjoyed it at launch too. I am in the camp that does not like the idea of seasons, it goes against my nature. Id prefer if this content was worked in as a new questline but it is fun. Witth expansions this game is going to be a monster.
Not when there are games that are >15$ and a few years old that do it better in every way.

As much as i loved and played Diablo 1&2 to death with my friends, today we all have work and families, if we are lucky we can get together once a week for a 1-2hour session. We all would love to play the seasons, but since we cant play them with our eternal characters, they are basically dead to us. Hopefully Blizz changes this in 2024... 😮💨
. That will never happen, just because you would have people bringing level 100 geared out characters into seasonal content and clearing it in a matter of 30 minutes and then game over. On a side note that is good, you get to keep your character in eternal realm after the season is over. I feel ya , but seasonal characters, playing as a group with the time constraints you mentioned, might not be the answer for you guys then. They do last for about 3 months.. and honestly you could still make it work, but I know how scheduling goes with your buddies in your 30’s- 40’s.. it’s a nightmare.

D4 is $104 after tax, for the base version in Canada. Their skins cost almost $40 here. They would have to put it on sale for $10 Canadian, for me to consider buying it.
That's a good deal. That's only 65-66 in USD, but it's 69.99 here in the US.

They should make the codex upgrade when you extract a legendary instead of forcing us to flood our inv with perfect aspects.
New season is definitely better. I was also never into seasons before I tried this stuff. I agree about Uber Lilith getting one shot and not being able to learn mechanics is not fun at all.
I agree, being an MMO player myself, D4 has converted me to a seasonal lover as well!! I stopped playing D4 season 1 before hitting 100 due to the repetition and grind, but season 2 has been a different experience. Im looking forward to what they can do in season for the future.

This is the best rule of thumb with literally every game nowadays. Especially “live service” games. If they’re worth playing in 2 years then they weren’t worth playing in the first place.

I like the video, but the consumable tab complaint seemed a little weird to me. Especially when 99% aren’t even useful. Hoe stay not sure why they are in the game at all. I really just keep stacks of “useful” potions in my chest, and keep one stack of a bs potion for exp while leveling. I never found that I ran out of consumable inventory ever. I also just clear out most of my sigles when I’m in town. Idk, just my experience, but I’m not opposed to any additional storage space so it would be a good change none the less.
The also need to improve Server stability in busy Event Areas. Often i get massive lags and stutters or even rubberbanding on my Character and i get instant killed because of that.

I'm trying to recall when I played D4,
Funny enough, I can't remember much of it, not even the class I main (I did try all classes) and the specifics of what they do.
I admit, I played many other games since stopping D4 at season 1. But it's really funny how little pace my brain reserves for D4.
However, the 20-minute videos made it clear that it does not seem to have changed much since season 1 except for some QOL changes people been asking.
But the key flaw that makes people drop D4 is still unchanged.

I thought I was done with Diablo IV, but this season definitely brought me back. The higher density mobs helped more than I thought it would, I am having a blast with everything now. And I also love how quickly the season pass progresses. I am able to play every couple of days for a few hours and well over half done with it. I don't have to abandon my other games I am playing through to finish it, which is nice. I have also never finished a battlepass type system before, and this might be the first one.
Still needs work, of course, but this is a step in the right direction for sure. I hope they continue on this path.
It was an amazing experience, now Blizzard need to focus on coop mode because what's the ppint of making it online if you dont play with others? Also start to make more cosmetics for gears but also on spells. Add raid for 10 people and disable effects on other and I think it would be amazing. And finally allow people to swith/save build.
The point is so that people don't play a cracked offline version of Diablo IV

Well, after this video, and moderately enjoying S1, definitely gonna jump in for S2. I really wanted it to be good, and was hoping you'd do a video on it. I love all things vampire, so I'm glad to hear they got this a lot better. Plus I've been needing something I can jump in and out of in smaller bursts instead of doing long winding rpg quest stuff during work so this'll be perfect

14:12 - thats what i still dislike about d4, on the first glance it seems like an good upgrade, but when you look at the secondary stats, every single stat is significantly worse then the equipped dagger

It's good that the game is getting better, but I'm still annoyed about the state Diablo 4 launched in and the overt monetization of a full-priced game. Blizzard is taking advantage of their player base and it's hard to support games with that greedy mentality baked into the game design.
I'm actually going to level to 100 because I'm having fun it feels much better than season 1. The vampire skills are sick and make it feel fresh. Playing Rogue.
How is your "BACK TRACKING" defined in dungeons? I'm not sure what that means.
First diablo game ive played ever, just bought it a couple days ago since i heard about season 2. I really like the game so far though as of now ive only gotten to lvl 24
D4 has improved a lot. For season 1, even after buying the season pass as I really like the mount (you get to enjoy the season without paying anything but I like the skins so I bought the premium pass), it is a struggle to reach lvl 70. After unlocking my skin, then I just put down the game but this season, I find myself enjoying the game a lot more and easily hitting lvl 90 now, so I bought the premium pass after I reach endgame. Definitely worth your try!

Is it still not possible to make a fun sorcerer in this game? Like you gotta use teleport and ice nova and lots of defensives etc? Sure you could play without it but you would be a fool if you did.

Completely agree with all your points, especially the Lilith fight. Finally got to the point I can do it and the idiotic one shot mechanics turned me off so I have left it.

Diablo reminds me of Champions of Norrath. I loved that game so much! I wish they’d remake it. Always disliked how D3 would glitch and duplicate side characters before and after saving the game and I gave up. Hopefully D4 doesn’t do the same.

3-4 more seasons with improvements, 1-2 expansions, 20 patches, and maybe I'll buy it.
S2 made the game way more exciting. Better density, a interesting level event with no downtime and the op feeling builds. Much more fun than before. Still more room for upgrades, but a big step in the right direction.
We need better itemisation
I don't think they fixed the broken talents and the unbalance between classes. After level 20 depending on your class and talents you can have done everything right and still get a bad experience.

Diablo 4 reminds me of grim dawn and poe, late game is just a full screen of mobs where u don't understand a thing anymore and bosses with insane health bars that took u ages to bring them down, maybe thats why last epoch seems a bit more chill and fun in comparison, at least there u see ur character and his animations in the heat of a battle😂
Fixes are not Features, most of the items you mention in your like list were broken / nonexistant features from release.
Play Last Epoch, game comes with the ability to buy up to 200 stash tabs with ingame gold and has the best ingame loot filter of all ARPGs.
The start all over again each season is the reason I stopped playing. I don’t care what they will add I can’t afford every 3 months to start from 0

Maybe I'll try it again. I was SO annoyed I spent so much money on this game and it was so crap.
Season 2 was much better, i hit 100 farmed the couple of unique's i wanted and went back to playing POE.
The question is not "Is It Worth Playing?" the question should be, " IS IT WORTH PAYING ? "
I'll wait for more 12 seasons then i'll return for main game to see how it improved.

Game it self is just a farming game pretty much. Not what i expected. When season 2 came, i gave it a try. But it was so sad though, when you had gotten a strong build and then need to start over in season 2. And the game was bugging all the time for me, I could not see my quests and got kicked all the time even though i have a really strong computer

Am i new player, I've never played any diablo games. Action RPGS I've played is Vrising and loved it, and played POE years ago for like a month casually. ALL I CARE ABOUT IS STORY, customization, AND PVP. Is this game good for a new player? When I say p2w I mean someone who pays more can have a significant advantage over me in game and I am not able to reach their level by grinding. Is this game p2w?

My problem with D4 (as someone who loved D3 and played at least a dozen seasons) is the game never gets to the stage where you feel powerful. In D3 you’d strive and struggle until you crossed that line with the gear and unlocked a 10,000% stat boost and then you were off into the major leagues, smashing through high level content and getting into the beneficial cycle of “do more damage, get better gear that enables you to do more damage to get better gear…”.
D4 does not have this - you are always struggling for DPS and resource. It doesn’t have the part of the game that was fun in D3.
I currently see no reason to ever go back into this game.
