Me and my brothers always acted out and pretended to be within many of our various favorite franchises growing up. It was always fun to explore our imaginations.
That's cool to hear you had a similar experience! It certainly kept us entertatined, and I think it's a good thing for kids to have a creative outlet like that. Was there one franchise that inspired you more than others back then?
@ThaneGaming all sorts of stuff pokemon was definitely a big influence when we were really young we had pokemon snap and we would go out and take pictures of animals pretending we found some new animal/pokemon to catalogue. That's probably the earliest I can remember.
As we got older it'd be things like 007, WWE, starwars, uncharted, assasins creed, it wasnt with just games but anime also stuff like Inyuasha, Dbz, Bleach, and Naruto.
Basically games or shows that had a heavy focus on showcasing extraordinary ability and unique purpose, high tensions were super fun to put yourself inside and mess around with the possibilities.
@@Grimkeeper17 Pokémon Stadium & Snap on N64 were so fun, Snap remains one of my favorites to this day! I remember going to a zoo on a Canada trip as a kid with a disposable camera. It made me think of the game b/c I was photogtaphing animals (of course) & had limited film to work with. We couldn't see what the pictures looked like until they were printed at Costco, so my family gathered around and judged how they came out after. Thanks for sharing your stories, it beings back even more memories of my own!
I used to act out my favorite games and tv shows as a kid, sometimes with my Best Friend and sometimes alone, though I never worried about people seeing me, I'd even do it at school, I was an odd kid.
Had a similar experience with Golden Sun too though I never lost the copy I borrowed in High School, still I finished the first and then borrowed the second but only got to the ship in the second game. I should go back.
I did too, but I had to start dialing back my obvious love for video games in middle school, because the teasing turned into bullying! Kids are pretty cruel, so I started getting self conscious 😅
Hopefully we both finish The Lost Age someday!
I’m lucky enough to have both GBA games on cart and the DS sequel, but feel the story ultimately never went anywhere. There needed to be a fourth game for closure

As a kid I used to recreate Mario and Luigi boss fights with my Mario plushies, that's similar I'd say
Oh definitely! I remember owning a SM64 Bowser plush and an older Mario toy with a soft body & a plastic head. We'd also play with LEGOs a lot and make up stories for the minifigures

I had a similar story. Friend in elementary school had the game and was gushing about it. He left me borrow it and I fell in love. Then he would tell me like they’re making a second game called SILVER SUN! I was like WHAAT I remember how bummed when the sequel was called The Lost Age.
Bought it nonetheless and man such a good duology

I was that kid that borrowed videogames from other kids and keep them or traded for other games of my interest, I tried to forget the way i used to be, but nowadays I accept it and I'm not like that anymore, there's not justification but I was a kid from a single mom and I haven't enough money or atencion at home, I just haved keep out of troubles, bring good grades, eat at time and brush my teets, mom doesn't care that much about my videogames and toys, most of the time i was home alone playing videogames and watching TV. I feel sorry for those kids that didn't get back their stuff but I lose contact with them more than 17 years ago 😢.

Golden Sun is a game that, for some reason, I haven't finished even though I've started it *way* too many times. The same thing's true for Chrono Trigger. Oh, but Mother 3? I've finished that 15 times now! Lol
That's interesting! I too started playing Chrono Trigger many years ago but I didn't get very far, and I never picked it back up. I will play through it eventually because I keep seeing it listed as one of the greatest RPGs of all time, but some games just have a power to lure you in and keep you there (like MOTHER 3). I'm admittedly the type of person who likes to play through my favorite games multiple times more than trying new ones, so I understand playing through it 15 times!

I wish I could just purchase these games on switch instead of having to subscribe to NSO like they did with Grandia because I’ve never played it or the sequel.

I would very much welcome the option to buy, either through the eShop as you suggested or through the NSO app itself (at a discount)? Subscribers could play the entire library as normal, or spend extra $ to "unlock" single games as permanent downloads. That way, in a decade (or whenever Nintendo decides to discontinue the service), you could still access the games you purchased.
That would've been my chance to own it digitally 😅 I did go on a bit of a spending spree when they shut down the Wii U & 3DS eShops, but I mostly bought DS Virtual Console games because I knew it'd be very difficult for Nintendo to officially rerelease them again, since there's no guarantee their future consoles will have DS features (touch screen, etc.) like the Wii U @@Chelaxim
