Who amongst us didn't make it a hobby to browse VHS covers in the rental store and try to imagine what the movies were like? Well, if you grew up in a age with three TV channels and couldn't afford to rent movies but somehow liked movies anyway.
Been playing a bunch of this game lately. Somehow managed to break the billion point mark on literally my second game, which is still wild to me given that my only other real source of pinball experience was playing this game's predecessor Demon's Tilt a couple years ago. Anyways, by now I've managed to hit wizard mode (multiball and global multiplier increase for completing all of the protocols/objectives) a few times and I'm working on trying to snag the 9-ball multiball achievement by filling the entire perk matrix and then unleashing all of those locked balls at once (so far my attempts keep getting foiled by accidentally activating some of the multiballs early before the matrix is full or getting it full and then losing balls partway through emptying it).
When I first glanced this, I thought it read Xeno Lit. And I have to admit, that sounds like a really good premise for a Talking Simulator game. To then have so much about books in the first few minutes was kind of amazing. P.S. Strongly recommend the Goblin Emperor. Also semi-recommend it's spin-offs. They aren't as good, but they're kind of interesting. And it's kind of neat to have detective stories where the underdog detective working against the system actually has a bureaucratic nuke in his pocket, and everyone important knows it. They're still being obstructionist, but it's amazing how reasonable they have to be about it.
I want to second the suggestion to read the spinsoff of the Goblin Emperor if you like that book. It's a great world and has very interesting characters.
