Nicely put together tutorial. One thing I would say is at times the soundtrack can be a little loud in comparison to your voice, might be worth adjusting the volume slightly for future videos
That's good input - thanks. I think there's an option (if it's not already that way), to separate out the mic and game audio into two separate streams. That would make it easier to adjust post-recording.
Great video, some of the shots to clear protocols you explained I had no idea of and should help out a lot. If you ever make a video on the EX mode mechanics/sub tables I'd gladly watch it.
Thank you for the video - I was and still am wondering why when you lost your first ball at 37:27 your fully stacked up matrix drives off screen and returns without the glowy ones and only the silver ones remaining. Is that supposed to happen? Never noticed that before - thought once locked they are permanent.. All the Best!
So firstly, I have no idea why the matrix drove itself offscreen at the end of the ball. I've never noticed that before. The other aspect is easier to explain. Every ball we lock in the matrix lights the slot it fills. It's not clear when the ball is in the slot (though you can see a slight glow around the bottom of the balls. When a multi-ball is triggered, the balls exit the slots, but the slots stay lit until you lose a ball. That means you keep the effect the slot gave you, and also when you trap further balls in those lit slots, you get an overlock bonus, which can grow to nearly a billion for the top slot.
Glad you found it useful. I think there's a long history of pinball games not telling you how to play fully, but something beyond the very basic 'how-to-play' would be very useful. I'm sure there are still dozens of features in the game I haven't uncovered.
@@TheSpoonunit I don't know how you figured out even HALF of these things. They explain so little to you. For a while I thought it was just me, but now I see that there just isn't much in terms of documentation, tutorials, etc. so you work is greatly appreciated here.
@@DaveVoyles It plays very similarly to Demon's Tilt, the previous title. That helped a lot for sure. If you haven't played that one, it equally great, though it feels somewhat slower compared to the fast and furious action in Xenotilt.
@@TheSpoonunit My thoughts exactly, especially regarding speed. I found a great guide on Steam titled "Protocol Guide" and if it wasn't for your video or this one, I'd be clueless.
Fantastic video, cleared a lot of things up for me! Quick question, what's the overlay you're using for the top right information? Is that afterburner?
I think that's just the in-game on-screen-display. It's been a while since I played, but have a look carefully through the options, both at the menu (before-game) and in-game. Should be there.
@TheSpoonunit yep found it just now actually. Wasn't expecting that to be native to the game. Nice! Wish steams overlay showed refresh rate in a nice compact manner like that. Some games unfortunately sync display modes between the deck and my normal PC.
Quick Google makes me think that Steam overlay is configurable, if you're comfortable dabbling in files. Which makes me wonder how close to that in-game one the overlay could get. As you infer, it's a nifty option to have in-game, originally put there to help debug (along with the version and ball-type-status at the bottom right).
@@TheSpoonunit I'll be digging in to see if it's possible. Might just be game scope is and standard overlay isn't perhaps. Worst case maybe Afterburner has something. I feel motivated enough to find out anyways now lol thanks!
How to get to this point? A lot of hours in demon's tilt first, which is, to be fair, a much calmer experience. Then, looking at my Steam profile, 148 hours so far in Xenotilt.
Very detailed and helpful video. Thank you!!
You're welcome !
This tutorial took from like 200,000 to 3 billion! Tysm
Boom! Well done. Keep going.

Great job on this video, super helpful!

I haven't figured out the extra tables at all. I just bat it around for a bit of relief from the main focus; the main table.
👍Thank you Mister Spoon

Very helpful! I wish the game explained most of this

sorry if you said it and i missed it, but how do you activate the locks for the matrix?
good question - I don't have a precise answer - I think it's roughly every 3 protocols (anywhere), but I could be wrong
wtf. how do you even get to this point
