- English subtitles are available. This is a complete build of Zvezda Russian T-26 Tank in 1/35 scale. From start to finish. You get to see the construction, painting and weathering of this model kit. Enjoy.
I think this model was released originally in the early 1990s , im pretty sure it came with rubber band type tracks ,it was originally released in the UK by Italeri , but it has been redone by Zvezda with new parts .
1997
First kit I ever made. I love this one. Good build!
Do you need glue??
Love watching your work, you have inspired me to try knew things, I just recently got back into making models again. Hope to see some more of your work soon.
wow men at last i was wating for you to upload a video..you are the reason why i started building scale model kits...cheers from greece!! you are amazing (y)
After watching your video I bought a Zvezda T-26. Just completed it a few days ago., Nice kit for the price . It was a fun little kit. I really enjoyed it.
***** You're very welcome.
Thanks. I have been building for about 40 years. I love your UA-cam Builds. Your smile and positive attitude are inspiring to me . Keep up the fun as I look forward to more.
Thanks. I'm working on Zvezda's Tiger One tank next.
i love your smile in the beginning! great video!!!!
You are like, so happy working on your models!
Great job!
Thanks :)
You, for an Italian boy like me, it's Master!!!
Great!
Sovietiunion Gamer Thank you.
Yah.. true enough, some part missing nuts and bolts (right now I’m build)from Indonesia 🇮🇩
Very good final result! I like the dirt and weathering effects! Nice job QDC!
Thank you :)
me encantan tus vídeos de figures 1/35,este tank lo manejo mi abuelo en la guerra civil española
Fantastic QDC, I got an M54 tank not to long ago. I try tile grout and elmers glue for muddy effects on the tracks. Thanks again for the tips.
You're welcome. I'm glad to hear that the glue and tile grout technique worked for you :)
this is very beautiful and great I respect you forever
Didnt saw this video before... dont know how i could let it slip away... nice work colin... i love t 26
AlexModeling Thanks.
I prefer T-28;-)
Happy to see another video by you! And maybe a tip for the next time when the decals wrinkle, pierce them with a needle on the point where they touch surface detail. That way it sits a lot better.
Thanks :) I'll take you advice.
Nice tank model you made. I like your videos and how you show build and paint technics in it.
You're very welcome :)
Looks great! Thanks for sharing your techniques :)
great job this is the first time I have see this particular tank
You're welcome
Great little tank like the dirt mud effect and weathering.
You're welcome :)
Hi, really helpful, I like the clean video work and your narration, Ive started modelling again in my late 60s and have several Zvezda models to start with so this, and more of your videos have been a great help with learning techniques. Many thanks from the uk
tomrace16 You're very welcome. This is a fun hobby and it's nice to hear from viewers like you that really got something out of my videos. Take care and have a great day! :)
Thanks for sharing
It's good to se you in great form. It's good to see you building this kit. One of my favorite tank series . Try Hobby Boss T-26 someday :)
Your models Are Great!
Thank you 😊
Beautiful work qdc! Watching your videos has gotten me into building model kits. Currently I'm doing a Trumpeter Dicker Max in 1/72
Great! I'm glad to hear that my videos has inspired you.
cool model. need to add it to the want list.thanks for sharing.
You're welcome :)
Despite the lower quality of the kit it turned out amazing in the end! I'm looking forward to your next project!
Thanks :) The quality isn't so good compared to Dragon, Hobby Boss, Tamyia, etc but it was still fun to build. The only con was the decal.
Wait you just put this model without gluing them Zvezda you amaze me
Thank you for watching my video. If you like Russian tanks, I'm building a Dragon SU-85 tank destroyer. I should upload a video by next week. 😃
it looks great you did a awesome job on it and i like the weathering
Thank you :)
Good tank build Q. Construction. ...painting....and weathering are all top notch. Just need a tank crewman hanging out a hatch....hahaha. Keep having fun.
Bill.
Thanks. Having figures would be cool for this kit but it didn't tickle my fancy :)
I also builded this model. For decals I used Tamiya Fixer and also make slits in the decals, so it resolve most of problems with it. There are no need to buy aftermarket decals.
Когда ИС-2 собирать начнёшь?(если не секрет).
рома соболев Уже начал )))
Первая часть надеюсь будет готова к пятнице\субботе.
Спасибо за ответ,очень жду сборку.)))))
Thank you for the tip :)
Nice work! You should make a diorama with 2 tanks in battle, with one tank blown-up or partially blown-up, make it a showcase of DIY battle damage. :) Like the plane you did but tanks.
Love your cheerful style of presenting...not bad at modelling too ! Great channel, keep up the good work..cheers.
Thank you :)
Good job mate! I think it is awsome H.B has produced the T35 now that both HB and Zvezda make the T26. Lovely.
Thanks. I think Hobby Boss make a better version but Zvezda has done a good job.
great looking T-26,i haven't built any zvezda kits yet,but might give them a try now .i recently was bitten by the scale modelling bug again after many years away from the hobby.i have built a few aircraft ,but having served in the army my primary interest is armor.have watched a few of your videos ,and am impressed by your work.you've just gained another subscriber to your channel.keep up the good work !
You're welcome. My goal is to encourage folks like to you build one for yourself. It's cool to know it working. :)
I'm pretty sure it's a rather old kit as you expected, I built the Italeri version of the T-26 back in the late 90's, it was branded as Zvezda-Italeri, and even though it's been quite a while, I remember those sprues and those parts, except it was in gray plastic. I'm also fairly certain it had vinyl tracks instead of the plastic ones.
Cool. I suspected that it was an older kit but the sprues says year 2010. Thanks for letting me know.
У тебя золотые руки!
Good T-26 tank Qgc ! Great job ! :)
Thank you :)
Enjoyed the vid Colin, and nice result. I know a lot of people are not keen on zvezda but I think they offer very good value and with a bit of effort can be made to look good. Kutgw
Thanks. I agree. Zvezda is getting better with their manufacturing and is a good value too. I'm working on their Tiger One tank and the quality is really good!
Great job Collin! The weathering and the paint job is amazing! It's a bumer that you had to learn the quality of the decals the hard way. find that a way to make the decals look a bit better is to spray the future on and then put the decals on and then spray it again to protect it to blend it in. It seems to work with me and I have had problems with decals in the past too.
Thanks. I'll try that.
qdc748a :)
I think that if you used a different setting solution you might have gotten a better result. I use Solvaset and it works even on the thicker decals I've had to use on some of my older models.
When decals "Pucker" up you can use a sharp point of an xacto blade or a new razor blade and carefully poke holes in the decal to release the air trapped under the decal and then add more SOLVENT to the Puckered areas this will force out the air and cause the decal to settle down over the rivet and let dry flat this happens frequently when I paint trains I use Walthers SOLVASET its a stronger solution and doesn't mess around you can try that if you like other than the decal issue the tank looks cool I am still a fan Q waiting for the next build.
Thanks! I haven't heard from you in a while. It's cool to hear from you again. Oddly enough, when I take the train to work each morning and see a Union Pacific train pulling 50 cars passing by me literally 5-10 feel away from my face, I sometimes think about you. Anyway, I think that's a great tip. I think I'll use this advice. Take care and have a great day!
вау неожидал !! )
Hello qdc, been watching your videos from afar :) Another terrific model from you. But might i ask what airbrush you are using on the t-26. It doesnt look like your usual. Paasche airbrush.
Yes, you are right. It's a new Paasche airbrush called the Talon. I might make a video about it.
Good work qdc!!😎
Thanks 😀
the kit turned out well david considering
will look nice on a diorama
oh by the way excellent video as always
Thanks :)
Nice review I was wondering about this kit. I have the HobbyBoss kit and wanted another T-26 without having to spend Hobbyboss's asking price
You're welcome. I think Hobby Boss would be a better kit but this one is good and it's diffidently less expensive too.
Well done model, I like it.
I think you should buy T-26 from HobbyBoss, it's much better than Zvezda kit.
Well, do not forget that this set is very old and was removed from the sale, and then run it again in the series by popular demand Russian modelers.
рома соболев I did not know that.
Good work as always my friend, th think though me and Zvezda might keep separate ways for a while.
Thanks :)
Ideally, you could buy a machined barrel and tracks from Master Club and photo etching would not hurt.
Superb build buddy :-)
Thanks :)
Your welcome colin.
nice build up but it is annoying when the decals just do not work well! I got a P51-b in 1/72 scale and it had D-Day invasion stripes in decal form--air brushed them on instead! Don't forget to dry brush rear idler wheels with some steel where they make contact with the tracks and return rollers if they are not rubber rimmed.
Thanks :)
Great the Soviet Union will be proud
What is the name of the colour that you use on your tanks to make the tracks look dirty? The T-55 has that colour shown very well. Also great build there but the decals was a backdraw but that is life I guess?
This looks pretty good considering the poor decals, you did a great job, also your teeth look excellent, tell your ortho/dentist he needs a raise ;)
Thanks :) I recently got my braces off. I'm so happy! Yes, my orthodontist is amazing!
qdc, I have a question, how and with which you tint your model tanks? I'm a very beginner and I am deeply impressed by Joun work. I would like also as model tanks can build so therefore I ask = D
I just used a solution of buff color artist oil paint in the tube. I dilute it with mineral spirits and spray on the model with my airbrush.
On average from start to finish how long does it take you to complete a kit, and what techniques can I use as a beginner to weather my models but make it look just as good as a higher experience level weathering?
Will F It probably depends more on what kind of model and paint job. personally i haven't built anything other than aircraft yet because i am still a beginner, but i am willing to share my weathering techniques with you (and anyone else who reads) Usually, i make a full body wash which consists of a small amount of black or brown acrylic paint and decal solution, coupled with mostly shaven pencil graphite and isopropyl alcohol. other than that, i use silver paint or rub n buff wax to make bare metal scratches and damage. I also go over my decals and paint weathering with matte clear coat to give dust effects rather than paint.
Thanks, currently I'm working on an A-6 Intruder with a Hellcat and Dauntless to come next. I've never weathered r used a body wash and from what I've seen it makes them look even nicer and more realistic.
That's a good question. When I make my videos, I didn't intend it to be an absolute "how to" instruction guide. When I make my videos, my goal is to encourage viewers to build their own model kits. My best advice is read the many books that are out there on building, weathering, and diorama building for model kits. In my opinion, those authors are truly experts.
I have never made a model before. buuuuuuuuut I would like to start with thias one.
Shame about the decals, but the tank looks good either way.. I like the early pre-WWII and WWII tank designs, regardless of nationality.. :)
Rob BasicModelling Thanks. Overall, it is a good kit. Take care :)
About the decals, I found out because I didn't like the micro set and the other one. I used a clear gloss finish. It seems pull decals in and where there are raised lines, it makes look almost real.
Thanks :)
i love building stuff like this but what brand do you prefer?
btw nice video :)
Thanks. I like most brands but I tend to gravitate towards Tamiya and Dragon.
Congrats.Really good tank.I have a question which paints for aibrush do you use?
I currently use two type both are from Paashe. It's the Model H and the Talon. Both are not the best but it's made in the USA so I bought them to support my own people. :)
As always a very nice build.. May I ask a couple of questions? What shade of brown oil paint do you use for the pin wash and at what dilution? Do you have a brand you like better or that works better than others? Thanks for a great video.
The artist oil I used is called "Valkyrie Brown" from Winsor and Newton. Winsor and Newton is my favorite oil color because the consistency is very smooth and mixes very well with mineral spirits.
Thanks.. I'll look for it when I go to the hobby shop this weekend.
When airbrushing do you generally add coats or just airbrush the model all at once.
I usually do just one coat with an airbrush. It's rare for me to give several coats with an airbrush.
i like this video
A very nice build, also, how do you paint narrow spaces like area between the wheels and the hull with a hand brush? Air brush is too expensive for me.
I am an airbrush guy. Sorry. I am not good with an ordinary brush. Sorry.
Oh, thanks any ways, have a nice day and thanks for repling my comment. :)
i like t-26 tank :D and you make coooooooooooooool effekts to th traks and other places :D sorry bad my english
Haziz viltsu Thank you.
no broblem :D
I'm gonna ask you what is this a tilt of buff color. I'm not very very good at english, so I don't understand some things. Can you tell me more about this? And the tile grout is only a mortar?
i really wish the had micro sol at my nearest hobby shop :(
How would one weather the rubber tracks? I'm making my first model tank (an M48 A2 Patton). Usually I do cars
Sorry....I'm new to this but what is the Black Paint for?..And what type of brand is it?...
It seems that you are applying some of the decals on the rivets, on which they won't set very well..
Yes, it's true. It's because of the quality of the decal. It's not the best.
Which paint do you use, and how long do you let it dry?
I bought this kit too but I didn't build it yet
It's a good kit but you might want to buy a separate decal because the decal from the kit is not good.
id like to get this model
I like te tank and the video. What paint you use for russian green?
I mix my own colors using ordinary household spray paints I bought at my local hardware store. I like to use use Krylon brands.
Thank you friend!
Can you maybe build the chieftain mk.5 from tamiya ;)
Kay Molenhuis Maybe
Mr QDC I have a question on your dioramas you used simple grout and I have a question do they dry hard?
Yes, they do. It's a very good for ground work in my opinion.
Hi qdc I would like to know what kind of paint do you use, tamiya, vallejo, etc, thanks
I mix my own paints using ordinary spray paints I buy at my local hardware store.
Awesome! Did you built this in one day?
Thanks :) No, I didn't finish this in one day. It took my me two and half weeks.
Wow that's a long time!
Any new videos coming up qdc784a?
Can you do another battle damaged tank
Maybe. I'm working on a Tiger tank from Zvezda.
what are the ingredients in the wash that QDC puts over the model to weather it?
jimbizzie I use brown artist oil paint that comes in a tube and I mix it with mineral spirits to a consistency that I like. There is no exact mixture ratio I use. Sorry.
could you make a snowy chaffee please?
Maybe
please :)
What mineral spirit do you use for the wash?
I just use ordinary mineral spirits I bought at my local hardware store.
멋짐ㅋㅋ
+김세훈 zz
Looks kinda easy
It's easy. Build one and have fun 😀
and yes you are an expert :D
hi when you use the primer, which primer do you use and how do you apply it
I like to use ordinary primers found at my local hardware store. I use Krylon.
OK, thanks
Is qdc from vietnam?
USA
The model looks awesome, but you are right, the decal is not as good as the model itself
I agree. The decals are not the best but it's still a good kit :)
Yup, it's a beautiful tiny machine
How would that oil paint damage the model?
By protecting it with Future Floor Wax, the wash will not damage the model.
Yes but what I meant how does the oil damage it?
you need to do a ferdinand
tlramirez27 Maybe
My father has a Dragon Model SU-76 model, the color in the decals have changed. What can i do :( ??
By the way, he bought this in 1993, he havent build it since then
Alkin Wong Not sure. Sorry.
Please help, what do you use to do the dust effects?
I use an artist oil paint called Buff. It comes in a tube and you mix with mineral spirits.
Ok tank you :D
Too bad about the decals. I have heard about them in the past as being sucky. The rest of it looks pretty good.
Thanks :)
ps I always wait till the decal dries over night
Can you build a Girls Und Panzer kit please? :DDD
Gestapo_ Joe I seen their kits. I don't see what is so special about them. Maybe
People like the kits mostly because of the actual show
Gestapo_ Joe Oh, ok. Thanks :)
