Zeratul was allowed to leave from Kerrigan after he killed his own Matriarch. However, on their way home to Shakuras, they stumble upon an energy signature on a Dark Moon... And we learn for the first time about the Hybrid.

Lowko sees: tanks, a science vessel, marines, and a ghost. But the FIRST thing he mind controls was an Ursadon. Glad to see he has his priorities straight.

tlessmo Terrans are unsalvagable in Lowko Difficulty. This race has only one alliance status: enemy. "Rescueable" is disabled on Control selection. Only auto attacks and damage dealing spells can be used on Terran units.
Now imagine playing this mission when the game was launched, and wait for more than a decade to really know what was the meaning of this.
Yup. I played this in 1998. And now in 2017 I own SC2 but still haven't gotten around to playing the campaign :P. (too busy with 1v1)
I played in 1998. It was years after sc2 came out that I was good enough to finally beat sc1 and get the secret mission. To tell you the truth the most gratifying accomplishment is realizing no one I've met has ever beat the Sc1+bw campaign without cheat codes.
I was ten years old when i beat sc+sc bw campaign including the bonus mission that i honestly accidently unlocked. I completed some missions more then 20 times and have no clue how often i finished the story, but it was numerous times. Even in 2004 internet guides were still nothing widely spread. I was late to the party but at that time no one gave a fuck if a game was 5 or 6 years old. Funny thing though... i was good enough to beat the whole game while just being ten but i couldnt fully comprehend whats going on in the story for real. So now more then a decade later im enjoying it a second time with great memorys. SC was my very first real pc game and the game that made me fall in love with strategie games and great story lines, it send me on a good course.
That was me! Everyone thought there was going to be a 4th race in SC2.
@@BigTeddies r u serious? ur friends must suck lol the campaign is not hard by any means it just takes time > if u spend 1 full day u could beat all the missions including the original and expansion its super easy (without cheat codes)

Aftar how he played this map, I was soo happy to see that Ursadon die. He deserved it, 100%! Most satisfying part of the video!

If you finish the next mission in 25 minutes with just drones and blindfolded nothing happens... but it would be impressive
But if you do it in LESS than 25 minutes, you unlock the ability to recruit Ursadons.
Lowko, you need to finish previous mission in less than 25 minutes to unlock this mission!

Kevkos wait, it wasv25, and here i wasalways beating my head against the wall everytime i got to 15.01 and having to reset the level while in reality i still had 10 whole minutes everytime.... At the very least i can claim i beat the previous mission in under 15 mins but still

Happy Dog and theyre perfect scouts in mp - units dont attack them automaticly except of ai ones (which might be the only ones on the map...)
Lowko always play BRUTAL. He has his own way to make BRUTAL difficulty in SC1.
Difficulty: Normal < Hard < Insane < Nightmare < Lowko.
Yeah... seeing Lowko difficulty for a while and agree that there should be a dedicate term for the extraordinary phenomena.
Anyway I comment based on his own statement in his SC2 videos. ;)
One time I played this mission, I mind-controlled almost every enemy unit (killing just most basic ones, that is, marines). Even took the infested terran. In the end had a huge army carefully positioned around the final stasis cell... And probably I'm not the only one who mind-controlled everything here just for fun. :)
No, you aren't. I loved the MC mechanic perhaps a bit too much.
I also freed all of the protoss out of stasis cells.
maelstrom is good for getting those groups of marines mind controlled without casualties. this mission took forever.

Alexandr Belov in a mp game theyre perfect scouts because units dont attack critters automaticly (except of ais units)

LOL You are given FOUR Dark Archons for OBVIOUS mass mind-control and Lowko instantly begins by killing all those special and useful units from siege tanks to Science Vessels. So awesome. :P

I'm a bit disappointed as you did not try to put some Ursadons in the dropship and bring them with Zeratul till the end.
I thought we'd seen it all. I thought killing Raynor's Raiders in vanilla SC was the best we would get between the two campaigns, but damn if you didn't Lowko this mission just as, if not MORE, hard... magnifique!

Supposedly if you kill all the ursadons on this map, the last one has a broodling inside it. If the ursadon carried a parasite, Kerrigan might have known more than Duran realized.
Special broodling. No timer.
Broodlings created by trigger are always permanent.
The Broodling belongs to the red Terran player, though, so it's probably meant to be one of their experiments, not a spy for Kerrigan.

This is the best Mission ever, it opened everything for StarCraft II, I was so hyped about it after playing it like 10 years ago
I love this mission along with all of SC+BW.
Yet SC2 was a huge disappointed for me, really enjoyed the cutscenes but the way they took the story was a let down. Far to warcraft like.
In 1998 my 9 year old mind made a more compelling sequel than what Metzen thought up.
Knew exactly what he was doing?! Oh come one you cannot believe that. With the retcons it is very obvious he had no idea where he was going with the story.
It was called warcraft in space due to the gameplay not the story, SC2 is warcraft in space

There is no intentional misinformation of the zerg history, it was a plain retcon. Which they may of tried to explain later.
What the fuck, your still going on? Trying your hardest to defend the bad decisions sc2 went through, I love starcraft for the serious tone not the Saturday morning cartoon story line and dialogue that sc2 displays.
Not a bad game, but as a sequel it doesn't hold up.

There is far more things that is wrong than just that list. Pretty much everything I've seen in a cartoon.
If you take a SCV with the mind control and use the cheat "show me the money" u can build a Terran army

Tristan Brito may can be disabled on ST Remastered, but in ST you can use the cheat

I seriously can't believe that after all the countless times I've beat SC1, and after beating SC2, that Duran is Narud spelt backwards. I literally just had an epiphany.
Mind control is only for Ursadons that Bc wanted to be there(i've always asked myself how do you control a ship with many people inside) well Ursadons they are cute,strong,useless and Cute!!! #saveUrsadons
Of all Lowko's SC/BW playthrough this is easily the funniest to watch. We are hereby well entertained. :)
Was a little frustrating watching this in places, but well done on completing this. To explain the Dark Archon abilities:
- Feedback is the same as in SC2. Useful to insta-kill Wraiths.- Maelstrom is an AoE stun, but it only affects biological units. It is great when combined with Psionic Storm.- Mind Control needs no introduction.
Mind control is for taking over Ursadons
Mind Control does need a note though, It depletes all the dark archons shields. Use carefully.

Its pretty amazing with the world building. This game was 12 years older than its brother and they already knew close to what they wanted the next game to be about.

Very interesting that so much of SC2's story has been set up in this mission, and it's not even a main storyline mission.

Because he's Lowko... Battlecruisers? Siege Tanks? Science Vessels? Marines? Nah, the best option is to mind control the Ursadons... XD

I learned something today. I've never bothered to check if I can mind control the critters on the map. Well... Now I know it's possible. ;)
As for the foreshadowing: this mission was the first what came to mind once I got to know the SC2 storyline. As always, it was fun to watch you play it. :) I'm off now... Time to play some SC myself. :D
Piotr Mrożek critters dont get attacked by units (except of ai ones) so theyre perfect scouts in mp - i tried out a few years ago
A little tip for the future lowko! If you find those weird flying critters, you can use queen Parasite on it so when it flies about, it reveals a lot of the map! Or you can just use the Queen Parasite on the enemy dropships/science vessels/Observers, when they go back and forth, you get alot of vision that way too
Along with Mind Control, Parasite and Hallucination also work on critters. As for the Wraiths, the easiest thing is to kill them instantly with Feedback before they can cloak. Mind Controlling the SCV is also nice as you can repair your other Terran units.

You have to snap every minute man.
Gotta hand it to Lowko, the final move was quite impressive! A piece of advice though, in such situations the science vessel's (if available) defensive matrix ability would be PURE GOLD. You could put the matrix on both the transport AND the ground unit inside (before loading him). Then the transport lives far longer under fire and the unit inside too after unloaded.
There's only ONE mission left: Omega. We're in for a lot of action.

use feed back on units with energy, the more energy the more damage, it also prevents units like ghosts and wraiths clocking because the energy count is set to 0, maelstrom just stuns units for a limited amount of time and mind control though VERY useful not only eats your archons energy but their shield too making them very vulnerable to counter attacks, but yes with proper planning you had more then enough with 4 dark archons and one standard archon to break into that base, it would have just taken time to bait the units out on place to take them over or kill them

That small mini-mission basically proves, that early concept for SC2 story existed 12 years earlier...
It was never: "Hey, how about we reboot star-craft? Twas so great game! :)"
It was always: "Brothers, the time of Great Awakening has come. Open The Vault!"

This mission was in the original Brood War dud, not manufactured specifically for the remaster just in case you weren't/aren't aware which is what it seems like
Every time I MC'd a ghost I had the urge to nuke. I was like, can't even build a cc. Forgot about "show me the money" makes this mission hilarious.

scouting with critters, we've been using that for a long time, sometimes even on multiplayer games
the hybrid was a forshadow of what didnt happen, they were the 4th race that was never added. i think you can still find referances to that fact even now.
Instead of mind controlling a SCV or the genetic engineer, Lowko immediately goes OOHH AN URSADON!
This whole episode was just lowko storming his own marines for 22 minutes
Lowko - type of person that mind controls critters instead of siege tanks.
And kills Terran allies (in an earlier Protoss mission). xD

You should really go through the SC2 campaigns on brutal. Watching you go through these is a lot of fun.

That tends to happen when you play Zerg a lot.
If you go back to certain missions, you can hear Duran's voice changing a bit, getting distorted in his speech.
Some being the last terran mission, when you win, and Duran adresses Admiral DuGalle.
The mission, where you have to kill Alexei Stukow: in the briefing: "But perhaps Stukov's loyalty isn't..."
And more. Give them another listen if you want! :)
well, at least he had some actually useful mind controls the second time around, it's learning!

Who else got a mindfrick a couple of episodes back when they realized that Duran spelled backwards is Narud. As in an identity the Xel'naga Narud assumes is uncreatively named.
If you click manual attack on the stasis cell buildings, you'll find two high templar and one archon, and four zergling
I enjoyed most of this playthrough but this one was pure torture.
This mission was in the original brood war. I remember doing it waaay back when lol
I think the secret mission was meant as a bridge between SC1 and SC2 and this was Narud's research area for making hybrids.
Kerrigan narrow understanding will kick your ass in the void mr. Narud

Also, the Dark Archon's Feedback ability is your best option against enemy units with energy (such as Wraiths). This skill drains ALL the enemy's remaining energy points and deals damage equal to the amount of energy they lost. :)
I have not played Starcraft for years, but if I am not mistaken, Feedback kills Wraiths immediately.

9:40 was a heart attack moment when I first played this. Until I realized Zeratul was cloaked and sliced the IT no problem. Whew
I had a full dropsip of marines that got mind controlled while I wasn't looking and they wrecked my base.
8:18 yes you wasted then energy of all archons. In starcraft 1 you have to manually pick all units before using the skill otherwise all units will spend the energy together

You needed that Science Vessel to detect stealthy units and for other abilities.
Oh the next mission is wonderful. If I remember correctly, you start with Hive tech and an expansion in plain view of your base. The only sane reaction to those circumstances is _"Oh no..."_
This stage is plot twist for Starcraft 2.
