  • [[ACT 1 + 3 SPOILER WARNING]]
In the Astarion origins run you get a lot more information from the Gur during this interaction than with Tav. He will go into more detail as to why he is hunting Astarion down -- hence, here is where he mentions their children being taken, highlighting Astarion's involvement. (The children you then find in Cazador's dungeon in Act 3 which he turned to spawn.) Choose to spare the monster hunter since he's not working for Cazador? Or end him now out of spite of Astarion's untimely death at the hands of other Gur 200 years ago?

I absolutely LOVE that you gave him heterochromia. it suits him so much. (well, everything does, but you know)

Agreed! Thank you :) and if you’re wondering, it’s not a mod. Just gave him Volo’s eye (only for aesthetic purposes, honestly lol)

He's like "Wait no. Hang on no no, surely not!"

idk about the specifics yet as I'm still in act 2 but i do feel bad for that gur man and his people. they genuinely sound like decent folk doing their best with what little info and understanding that they have. i mean, he was literally planning on trading with a hag. they had to have been desperate at that point

I feel the same, definitely! Hence, I always let him live. But then there is also the perspective of Astarion, where him and his 'siblings' are under Cazador's command--being left with no choice but to do what he says. It can be a tough decision to make since both parties are just trying do to what they can/or what they think is best within their circumstances. This is something I truly love about this game. What's 'good' and what's 'bad' is never a straight answer.

@@officialzeldainthemaking yeah true. tbh i can't fully fault either side in this case since they're doing what they think is right (in astarion's case, what he was forced to do). I've settled to the approach of "choose which choices you can live with" since i presume that there is no "everybody absolutely wins" outcome.

I also feel for them. But on the other hand they're like "yeah we're gonna drag this escaped slave back near his master and torture him for what he was forced to do and call him a monster even though he had no free will" and ... Yeah so Gandrel isn't much alive in my usual playthroughs... Which might bite me in the backside later but I have no regrets. I was ready to cut down Wyll if he didn't step back from Karlach, and Astarion had less agency than her and would face worse than beheading with the gur.

I probably would never play as his origin becouse I really miss his voice and I'm thinking that silent protagonist is such a stupid idea. Astarion's voice actor is freaking perfect 🥰

You get to hear bits every time you click on something, also whenever he comments on observations. It’s not the long conversations but it is new compared to the dialogue I’m sure you’ve heard before now.
