Mick Taylor's triumphant, but sad, exit song from the Stones. Charlie Watts' drumsticks tick tock into eternity as a fitting tribute to his quiet, classy and irreplaceable presence in an unforgettable band.
Mick Taylor's ascending notes after each chorus are like a perfect musical reply to the slightly downbeat lyrics. Like it's saying, yes, time slips away from us but life is still a beautiful thing. A little touch of genius. It reminds me a bit of Carlos Santana's playing. And then at the end when everything falls away and you're just left with Charlie's beat, like a ticking clock. It's my favorite song from my favorite Stones album: "It's Only Rock n Roll." This song flew under the radar but was a recurring theme in their music. Every " time" song from them is classic. "Tiiiiiiiiiiiiime is on my side,"" Baby, baby, baby you're out of time. " (this one has been in about 500 movies.) "Time Waits For No One" is the deepest, most thoughtful. Charlie Watts tick, tick, tick with his sticks was a stone cold genius. Mick's plaintive yearning says it all, and Mick Taylor's soloing and meshing with the almighty Keith Richards maybe the best two-guitar combo in rock history.

This is such a unique song in the Stones catalog, multi-layered, beautifully executed, and would be very difficult to replicate in a live performance. In my opinion, it was M.T.’S greatest performance, and beautifully presented as a tribute to Charlie. I’m sad.
And I thought I was the only one crazy about "Time Waits for no One." It is so damn profound: "Time can tear down a building, or destroy a woman's face." You know, underneath all the hoopla, spectacular goings on of the Rolling Stones and the business of rock n roll stardom there exists two very thoughtful philosophic poets named Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. And they had a drummer who knew exactly what each song needed. What I like the best about "Time Waits" besides Mick Taylor's solo is the song starts and ends with the immortal Charlie Watts groove.

Artistry happens. This song is a masterpiece on so many levels. I was a lad of 23 yrs. when it was realeased.
So much too admire in the man. One thing I loved was how, even though the Stones stage setup became bigger and bigger. He kept the some size drum kit. Over the years they added more BV's and other musicians. Everything got bigger but Charlie kept it simple ❤
....music will go on through all dimensions, so we eventually travel with it...❤
