  • On this trip, we decided to open the 2022 riding season by taking a motorcycle trip down to Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico. We all met in San Juan Capistrano on the morning of 02/02/2022 and headed south to Ensenada and as our first destination, Hotel Jardines in San Quintin, B.C.
    The next morning we made our way towards San Ignacio and stayed at the Ignacio Springs B&B, ran by Bonnie and Paul. He's got a really cool story about how he got the place.
    Our next destination was Loreto, which we tackled on day 3 of the ride. We stayed at the Oasis Hotel, a very nice beach-front hotel right on the main strip. We headed towards the mission and had a wonderful dinner right across from the mission that evening.
    The next morning we headed back up toward Catavina. On day 5, instead of continuing on Federal 1, we decided to cross over to the Sea of Cortes and take the Federal 5 up to San Felipe. This way, we'd get a chance to see Coco's New Corner. The east side of Baja seems more scenic to me and San Felipe did not disappoint with its fresh seafood menu.
    In Ensenada, we stayed at the new Holiday Inn Express in Central Zone and we walked over to Mr. Pampas for our last meal of the trip. We all got the meat sweats and had an incredible time eating, drinking and talking about the trip. The next morning we headed to our traditional breakfast spot, Restaurant Mustafa off the Carretera 3 towards Tecate. Got to say hi to Sharim who runs the place and had our obligatory Jugo Verde (green juice) before heading towards the border. The border crossing was a breeze as there were only a hand full of cars at the border.

      Thanks for the kind words Phillip. Some may call it neurotic but I spend hours picking the right tracks before I even start editing clips

    Hola Henry, thanks for the inspirational videos! Rode solo this past August from Ventura, Ca to La Paz, took the ferry to Mazatlan and then rode down to Puerto Vallarta. I am watching your video in Morelia right now having ridden here last week; I love traveling in Mexico by motorcycle. I ride a V-Strom 650 and its done well for me so far. My experience has been the drivers here drive better and more courteous than in California. I think the locals are so accustomed to driving in adverse conditions their driving skills are sharper. Thanks again!

      Hola friend! Glad you liked the video. There's something magical about that Baja Ferry to Mazatlan. Those passenger partied all night lol. I did a similar loop to yours back in July 2020. In hindsight, I probably should have done it later in the year because I hit triple digits in parts of Baja, especially Between Loreto and Lapaz got really hot!!!! ♨But I truely enjoy riding mainland Mexico and it's really true what you say about drivers in Mexico . They embrace the idea that you're on an adventure, especially truck drivers and they make sure to give you room or signal you that it's safe to pass🚚🛻...really a great feeling being down there. Here's my cheesey video from that trip...I was very new to recording and made a lot of mistakes but was able to capture some stuff ua-cam.com/video/G8iRDJHcAjQ/v-deo.html

      That is a wonderful area where you're staying right now. The city of Guanajuanto is absolutely magical and it seems like the Spaniards never left. Would love to see videos of you riding that area. I will be leading a group to Mainland Mexico later in 2023, after leading a ride to Canada in April and to Europe in May 2023.

      @@goatmototours Have not gotten around to video recording my trips yet, suppose I should start by buying a GoPro. Visited Patzcuaro this morning, truly a magical place, may be moving from Puerto Vallarta to there soon to use as a home-base while continuing the journey!

      Based on your recommendation I ordered the Skydio but when it arrived I realized how big it packs and not convenient to travel with it is. I returned it and got a Mavic Air 2. It does exactly what I need it for and it fits in my tank bag.

    You doing much off-road on these tours? Any longer Baja/Mexico trips planned for 2023?

    • @goatmototours
      @goatmototours  Рік тому

      I do off-roads on my own and by request. Most of my rides are pavement only because that's what the riders want. I have currently a short ride planned to Enseneda for the Beer Fest which is a weekender. Then in April I have a 10-day ride planned to Canada, visiting the beautiful city of Victoria, BC and in May I have a 21-day European tour planned to visit Germany, Italy, Croatia, Switzerland, Netherland, Scotland, Ireland and England. Once these three rides are completed I am planning a 21-day ride to mainland Mexico, CDMX, and a few surrounding provinces but haven't dedicated any time to it for now as my plate is pretty full with these three rides.
