Boxing on live is mandatory in my opinion to stay efficient with login time and once a good group is available I would still bring my druid toon with me. I enjoyed warrior as main, druid (was original main so I could pwr level alts and travel), and third box was enchanter for haste/slow/mez. I wish I had a shaman but on hard named camps I would swap druid with friends shaman. 3 boxing was most I could do and used two computers to swap around a lot. Raiding in guild back in the day was a second job, with mandatory 20 hours weekdays and expectations to grind AA on weekends with random alt raids sat/sun. Looking to relive some raid content now that I see your 54 raid capability.
I have a 6-box crew on Live, level 85, in the Underfoot expansion. That expansion is really difficult, even with raid-level gear (I'm on FV so I bought some raid gear). I plan to return to it eventually, probably after I finish the first iteration through 54-boxing.
