@REDxzak maybe back in the early 2000's when it came out. But now...idk. that maps seems to have a higher chance than all the others of having hackers and/or super angry Russians on it too
We should get a dynamic map-pool, as I call it, that changes every year or half a year. We have 12 legit maps: Dust2, Mirage, Inferno, Nuke, Overpass, Vertigo, Cache, Train, Cobble, Ancient, Anubis, Tuscan. Make a dynamic map-pool of these 12 maps of which 7 would be active for 1 or 1/2 a year. Add and remove 1 map after each cycle and make it so it can't be the same maps that come and go each time and we will have a dynamic and entertaining map-pool that would also push the pros to adapt and be creative with the current map-pool.
people talk about tuscan but I heard it's not good competitive-wise. but i do agree a rotative map pool would make things more interesting, like every year you replace 1 or 2 maps
I like this as an idea but the maps aren't good enough. Tuscan is awkward to play as a T, cobblestone is really CT sided, train is an improvement but has awkward angles to play and you're either playing in thin corridors or hiding behind tiny pieces of cover. Cache is a good map for pugs and wouldn't be too bad for the pro scene but it is incredibly aim reliant and basically just another Dust II, and was also criticised a lot when it was in the pool. Vertigo sucks in its current state and that leaves you with 7 competitively viable maps (or 8 if you count cache)
the fact overpass got removed and vertigo didnt is so extremely painful. overpass was carrying the game for me for having fun mainly because the redesign was just so fresh and clean. and it got replaced by dust 2 which is the most unenjoyable map in the game for a lot of people. worst map pool of all time i dont think it can get worse than this.
Like the video said, Vertigo is just an A ramp simulator. The fact they removed Overpass for D2 instead of Vertigo is CRAZY! Tbh the fact they added D2 back to the map pool was bad enough!
In my opinion, Vertigo is one of the most beginner friendly maps because it is so obvious where the player can and can’t go. It made it easier for me to figure out where to go and look for enemies (plus there is less suspension of disbelief when there are fewer inoperable doors)
@@tyvert4882 Yeah I'm a player since 2018, only started taking the game seriously recently and nuke is by far the hardest map for me. There's a high skill gap on that map IMO, in my level 6 lobbies T side is impossible. Inferno is my favorite so far because I've been using the instant CT mid smokes

I’ve always loved vertigo. I think the fact that the map is broken is what makes it fun, at least in my opinion. I’ve been playing since 2014 and vertigo and cobble were always fun because you could just keep rushing and it was a game of endurance and who would make the slightest mistake first. Overpass was like that for me too but had more structure of course. I have a particular issue with mirage however. It’s Dust 3. We don’t need another map with three long awp angles. It’s a big reason train was disliked. Every angle is held the same way with the same weapons. It’s what makes the map easy and playable, but also boring as fuck to play and watch. I feel like mirage needs to go and should’ve with dust 2 those few years ago. Cache is map that I’d love to see back. Utility usage has to be improved but overall the map in my opinion is a good fundamental 3 lane map. Vertigo and Anubis are maps that are wild and in my opinion bring some randomness, although always on the same site. They need to make B a little more accessible, or open mid more so T’s can get out faster. That’s all I’ve got haha I doubt anyone will read this but if you do let me know what you think. I enjoy the map debates. Always excited seeing map devs going to work :)
I would propose an idea, keep the 5 same maps for the map pool, and change each year 2 maps, 1 newly added community made and 1 of the oldschool maps that can be in rotation for the next couple of years
Already made a word document like 2 years ago with this idea in mind, although i would find 2 map cores (4 maps each) that swap each year more entertaining. Whilst the other 3 maps would be divided into two old (for example Operation) Maps and one new map that would move into the old map pool. On the pro level it might be advised to inform the team way beforewards so they have time to figure out the Maps. Doubt that it will happen, would be cool though. Train and Cache still missing...
Vertigo is fun in low elo because you don’t get punished for running it down ramp but it’s so annoying to play in high elo because it’s the same thing every round. Wait afk at the bottom of ramp with a couple guys and then call for a late ramp take or split B. Those are the only two plays
As a Vertigo lover, my only real gripe with the map is how complex the actual sites are. It's like Inferno, but replace Banana with A site ramp, and uh, B site is nowhere near close to Inferno's A site, god damn. I feel like B site is the one that needs some changing right now, the entrances are really hard to get through. B site completely lacks an alternate entrance, a short entrance. You either go the long way and face CTs from a million different angles, or take over Mid and go from there.
Vertigo's main issue is a mix of B and Mid. Right now, it plays like a simpler version of Inferno except A is much harder to hold defense on. It isn't that A ramp is easy for Ts, it's just hard for CTs. It's much easier to play one A, two B, two Mid because retaking A has a higher chance of winning the round than holding it. If A had better spots to hold past site then it'd be easier. But B and Mid are rough. It's like if on Overpass CTs always got to playground first, they hold so much power over those choke points. B would be better if they moved site closer to where HVAC is now but made it take longer for CTs to get there. That'd give that little bit of runway at the top of B stairs for the Ts to rush and grab but make a mid split a viable option. Right now the sandbags/boost in mid has too much influence on mid and B. Idk how to fix that but it's like connector on Mirage but with no downsides.
Man, I would play so much CS if Mirage, Dust and Vertigo got removed in a single package deal and maps like Train, Cache and a brand new one got added instead. I dream of that day.
Arguably the current map pool contains more bad maps than good ones. Vertigo is terrible, Ancient and Inferno are both mid, and Dust II is too simple to be fun competitively.
honestly anubis is pretty fuckin boring to watch but its fun to play. Ancient is pretty decent. Mirage is still playable and fun to watch. Dust 2 is actually both fun to play and watch. Vertigo is cancer to play and boring to watch. Nuke is dope and a classic. Inferno would be excellentr if they reverted the ct side molly nerf but right now its a bit corny cause you have to insta dump 2 util belts at round start to deny banana rush if you want to fight/Hold it. Inferno is also fun to watch. I would be ok with Inferno, Vert, Ancient, or Anubis getting removed for Train, Cache, 2017 Cobble, or Overpass.
Anubis and Ancient needs to be there as the 'bad' option - thus we wouldn't have the 'best' map to pick. I personally think Vertigo and Dust 2 are the options that are objectively bad though, Overpass was in the category of maps that were 'acceptable' like Ancient and Anubis but not as good as Nuke and Mirage, which means the change was very strange. If they added Cache now, it wouldn't even be in mid anymore, and be one of the best picks, making the pool have more good maps than 'bad' maps
My prediction is that Vertigo will be replaced by Cache once FMPONE finishes making the CS2 version of it. With that being said, I'm just being patient. We all must be patient. Simply just don't queue or vote for the map. Its pretty easy to avoid playing on it.

I mean let's be real, Vertigo is being removed after the next Major. After update it doesn't even look and feel like a competently made map for competitive cs.
OG Vertigo was a fun map. As much as I love the competitive scene, the changes they made to the map turned into a boringfest. Sometimes I wish they would just cater to casual fans instead of the no lifers.
I think priority should be Valve actually putting the money they excuberantly earn from the game into devs expanding the team. I feel like they have lost respect for the game and its looong time customers..

Yes we never played Vertigo in CS 1.6 > CS:S and avoided it as much as possible in GO - Get rid of it!!!
MY GOAT DUWAP 1:20
I like vertigo but I'm also the only one in my friend group that will play something other than the same 2 maps so who knows
Honestly, map pool is stagnent - get Cache, Train, Thera, Oberpass in
I mean let's be real, Vertigo is being removed after the next Major. After update it doesn't even look and feel like a competently made map for competitive cs.
The more time passes, the less any complexity is valued on maps. I call this the Valorant effect.
I miss vertigo before the rework
Vertigo is bad, sure but Dust 2 is crazy to still be playing this in 2024.
Vertigo gets hate from those who won't take the time to learn anything besides Dust 2 and Mirage
L take. Lots of people just don't like to play Vertigo, i know you don't wanna hear it but its true.
Vertigo should stay as long as mirage, inferno and dust 2 is in it
OG Vertigo was a fun map. As much as I love the competitive scene, the changes they made to the map turned into a boringfest. Sometimes I wish they would just cater to casual fans instead of the no lifers.
my friend plays vertigo a lot and hit mostly B instead of A surpisingly
how about translating more old cs maps into the new engine instead of rotating the already existing map?
Vertigo best map honestly. Only ppl who suck at it are Dust2 and Mirage Andy's.
I think priority should be Valve actually putting the money they excuberantly earn from the game into devs expanding the team. I feel like they have lost respect for the game and its looong time customers..
even pro players hate this map, it’s been the least picked at pro events and is the perma ban for all the best teams in the world. it’s time to get rid of it.
Vertigo fun to play but boring to watch. The main question is why should the active map pool is the same as the one we play in premier and face it?
Vertigo is fun. It requires a bit more team work and comms. People are too lazy to learn it.
To be fair, Vertigo is a million times better than Dust 2
Crazy that there are Players still playing that old Boring Maps. It’s Like still playing Tetris on Gameboy .
The pros just do not play the map because it’s terrible just look at aleksib’s rant. After this major vertigo will 100% be gone.
Vertigo is a good map, unironcly
Yes replace it with cache. Way too many angles to watch if CT. T side is just rush a simulator.
Vertigo is just 2 story inferno, change my mind
Its still better than dust2 mirage and inferno fricking same round for the last 20 years
I would much rather have Mirage removed and updated than Vertigo.
I want valve to remove mirage, dust and inferno for atleast a year. That way the teams will finally get creative again
bring back pre reworked A site cobble dude, that was my favorite map
god i love vertigo, best part of soloqueing is your the only one that fuckin knows vertigo, its great lmao
CS 2 map pool is a disgrace. Dust 2, Inferno, Mirage... these maps are fckn 20 YEARS OLD !!! Nuke and Vertigo are garbage... The only good maps we have that aren't over a decade old are Anubis and Ancient... it's just sad tbh.
Someone remember Ship in Operation Hydra? Best Map for me when i was a silver haha
Vertigo is the best map just without the update
