I went to see this movie five times at the theater in 2000. That was what got me started going to the movies pretty much weekly for a few years there. This one's probably in my top 10 favorites of all time, it's so great. Jim Caviezel is INCREDIBLE.
This also has a TV series, very good. The lite version of time travel is really done. As someone who lost their dad at an early age this movie hit hard.
This is another one of my favorites. I love all the movies you are doing!!!! Your doing different movies that one one else is doing. I'm getting tired of all the same movies that everyone is doing.
I'm especially impressed at how this movie pulls off a seemingly impossible plot switch, going from a sentimental story about a guy reconnecting with his long-dead father to a mystery thriller about a serial killer, and really makes it work. One real key is that radio report about the Nightingale Killer in the opening scene before the truck crash, where we hear enough detail to be clued in that it's going to be important later, but then for the next hour so much other stuff is thrown at you that you kind of forget about it until the twist with John's mother.

I love this movie so much. One of the most underrated movies ever. Love the cast in this one. However, I had to watch this movie several times to fully understand it. :D
Oh wow that IS Michael Cera I never noticed it until you pointed it out. I saw this on cable back in highschool with my dad and we were both so hyped about it. It was also the film that introduced me to Jim Caviezel. The movie also does a good job leaving hints right since the start of the movie. On the radio you can already hear chatter about the Nightingale murders. Kinda like how Back to the Future mentions the clock tower at the start. And on that note you might as well see Deja Vu starring Denzel Washington. I won't say much but that's a banger as well
This movie too introduced me to Jim Caviezel and I was a fan of his especially in Person of Interest, up until learning more about him. Dude is a straight up weirdo in real life. I enjoy this movie too much though so I have to put all that out of my mind.
The movie was adapted into a CW TV show in 2016. It didn't have any of the same characters, but just used the basic setup, with Peyton List as a woman in the present day who finds that her father's ham radio can talk to him 20 years earlier in 1996, before he was mysteriously killed. This time they're both cops, and again have to coordinate a search for the killer in both time periods, with a ton of cool ideas in how to expand the premise. But unfortunately, it did have one major handicap: another cop (basically the show's version of Satch) is revealed to have been forced to help a conspiracy in the department after they covered up his killing a suspect. Problem was, this was right at the time when society started really catching wind of what a problem police murders are, and the show's crew clearly realized there was no way in hell he could remain a sympathetic character after the reveal. So their solution was to do a flashback to the shooting where he's very clearly justified in killing the man in self-defense...which in turn meant it was total nonsense that he'd even feel the need to cover it up, which the show doesn't even try to explain. Viewing figures dropped like a stone after that, and it didn't get a second season, though we did at least get a five minute online clip assuring us that they managed to save the father's life permanently.
14:13 Before Google. Yahoo! was the biggest search engine and web services company on the internet. In fact, they are the only one still around from the Web 1.0 days (pre-Google. pre-social media. pre-UA-cam). So in modern language, that would have been like him telling his friend to invest early in Google or Facebook.
@@1938superman AOL was the king of dial up Internet. Then purchased Time Warner, which turned into one of the biggest corporate blunders of all time. Instead. AOL should have purchased cable companies and moved over to broadband.
God I love this movie, saw it upon release. Great script & cast. Losing my father at an early age I really gravitated towards the story & main character.
You have to feel for Shepard's parents, who get horribly screwed no matter the timeline. First their son gets killed by a random accidental overdose in the hospital, then Jack kills his mother which goes unsolved, and finally they're stuck with Jack having been revealed as the Nightingale Killer, and all the horrific emotions that come with it.
This movie is a long time fave of mine. Went to see it after it came out at the time. Soooo glad you reacted to it! Knew it would blow your mind. 😁 I think it was the first movie I'd ever seen Jim Caviezel in. He's such a good actor though you don't see him in much the past few years. I used to watch a Tv series he was on for a few years called- Person of Interest. Dennis Quaid has always been a good actor as well. (His son with Meg Ryan, Jack...is also an actor.) Anyways, this movie was just so cool and done so well, they used the time jumping thing in the right way. I loved the song at the end and how his friend remembered- Yahoo lol. It's strange to even think about Yahoo because it's not been "A thing" for some years now. 😛 Was fun watching you with this one! Have a good holiday weekend.😊
They even did a TV series based on the movie, where a New York police officer, played by Peyton List, works at the same precinct her father a decorated officer worked until he was killed in the line of duty in 1996. However, she begins to receive radio transmissions from her late father from 20 years ago, where past and future collide, as they work together on who had her father killed and why they did it, as well as uncovering corruption in the precinct. It was cancelled after one season on the CW in 2017.
LOVED this reaction vid by you for this gem, thanks! It's one thing to use 'time travel' for the parental bonding trope, but to throw in a whodunit was cool. Jim Caviezel stars in another sorta time travel flick, Deja Vu, with Denzel Washington, and is also another gem worth trying out.
Liked the second half better than the first, thanks to the whole ‘stop the serial killer before Mom dies’ plot. Also enjoyed the anti-smoking message of the movie
In the original timeline, John's mom wasnt at the hospital because she was arranging a funeral for the dad, and so that deadly combination killed Jack Shepherd. In the new timeline, she catches the deadly combination in time, and he lives to kill 7 more women, including the woman that saved him.
Great choice of movie. Without checking, my recollection is that you're only the 2nd person to react to it. If you liked this, you might like another excellent time communication / time travel movie called "Deja Vu."
Great “ under the radar “ reaction. This movie does not get the love it deserves. Great story and logical time jumping. If you like these type of time changing stories, check out The Butterfly Effect. A man goes back in time repeatedly to “fix” the present with horrible side effects every time.
I’ve never actually seen anyone do a reaction to this movie so thanks for this, because I think the awesomeness of this movie is severely underrated.😊😊😊
If you liked this movie,a great movie version of the classic novel „the count of Monte Christo‘ by Alexandre Dumas is also starring Jim Cavizel as the main character! Very recommended!
Great reaction, I forgot how much I loved this movie! If you ever get back to Robin Williams movies you should definitely check out Jack, it's pretty funny at times with some heartwarming moments.
I watched this movie with my father when it came out and we both adored it. Two years later, my father passed of a heart attack and this movie became so special to me. Another movie with Jim Caviezel you might like is The Count Of Monte Cristo
I've never heard of this movie, but I'm for sure going to watch it, I love weird stuff like that. fantastic review and commentary, otherwise I'd have no clue what was going on, not sure I fully got what was going on lol so deffinatly have to watch the whole thing.
I lost my dad when I was 5 and this movie always brings me tears. Oh, how I wish I could have a moment with him. He was LAPD but, didn’t fall in the line of duty just a stupid motorcycle accident coming home from the station.
The killer would have died the night the dad died in the fire. Because the mom/nurse would have gotten called away because of it, and wouldn’t have caught the dr’s mistake, and the killer would have died.
This is one of my favorites! I must've watched this a hundred times or more. The "time-travel", murder mystery, thriller and drama combination is so damn unique and so well-implemented. The ending theme song by Garth Brooks is also really damn good.
I don't generally care for thrillers but this grabbed me the first time I saw it (hubby was watching so I sat with him). Kept me on the edge of my seat!.I love it and am so glad you got to view it. Yes, "trippy"! FYI Jim Caviezel, the son, played Jesus in "The Passion of the Christ".
I'd never seen this movie (technically I guess I still haven't) but what a fun ride! A really interesting concept that doesn't come across (at least in the reaction clips) as too hard sci fi or too woowoo magic. Just like, some space junk I guess. Impressed that they pull off such a casual tone to such a high concept.
In 2016 the was a Korean mega-hit TV cop series named 'Signal' with much the same premise but using walkie-talkies. Then in 2017 a CW series named 'Frequency' like the movie arrived that resembled the Korean series.
Wow I have been waiting for this reaction so long. One of the great time travel movies I ever seen. You should also see Count of Monte Cristo with the same lead actor Jim Cazvell.
For more firefighting, check out Ladder 49. I wish more people would do reactions to Frequency. This is a great, little movie with a near perfect script.
Great reactions to this rather unique film, Sam!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽This is one of my favorite, kind of, time travel movies. This reminds me of "Source Code" (2011). Another film that has a strange way of looking at time.
your woos and yays at the end seem soooo unenthusiastic, and it feels like you stuck out to the end of this movie basically because you started it, but it feels SO forced hahaha
Oh no, not at all. If it came out as unenthusiastic, that definitely wasn't it. It was just that this movie was so mind trippy that sometimes all I could managed was just a WHEW, yknow what I mean?

2:45 "I really one see the Northern Lights, actually. One day. It's on the bucket list." You know, there are also _Southern_ Lights. They're not as well known, but they're caused by a similar phenomenon The Northern Lights are referred to as the Aurora Borealis. The Southern Lights are referred to as the Aurora _Australis._
Iam so glad you finally got to see this film and you have set a precedent in all first time watchers for being the first to watch this film. This is great film. It keeps you guessing all the time. Fantastic writing and acting and directing. Jim Caviezel ( who played Jesus in "The Passion of the Christ.") gives an outstanding performance and Dennis Quaid, as always, is very good. I saw it with an audience that reacted so appropriately to everything ("Oh my God!" "Holy shit!" "Oh no!" etc). Your reaction is so great it made the film even better. Great job.
Wow! Being able to change the past without leaving the present? Outstanding. And being caused by weather? I Love it. It's like Field of dreams without plowing up your corn. I think Jean-Claude made a time travel movie called timecop. He uses a time machine. Like this movie, changes you make in the past manifest instantly in the present. Peggy Sue got married. Kathleen turner has a significant medical event and gets to change her life. But nothing like this. Great watch Sam!
Lol, remember when someone from the 70s remembering the name "Yahoo" could lead them to make a lot of money on the stock exchange? "Remember this word: Bitcoin!"
13:10 "I'm pretty sure that it was the guy that, when he visited her in the hospital, there was that whole thing with the dude and the doctor giving him more... you know... whatever... and she stopped him." Sam, this was a good feat of reasoning. Yeah, this is a weird movie, but there's logic to it.
Elizabeth Mitchell, who plays Julia, is especially notable for playing one of the first major lesbian characters on network TV, as Kim Legaspi in ER, who even became the love interest for a female character who'd previously considered herself straight, something you just plain didn't see on TV anywhere else in the '90s. She also recently did it again in The Expanse.
Love love this movie, was always a favorite with our family. I just have to forget what a racist, Trump lovin, nut job he is currently so I can still enjoy the movie. Great reaction, I’m glad you watched it and enjoyed it!

That was a fun reaction! So many twists in this film, and yet, it's just a story about bonds of family. Great grounding for such an odd film.
This also has a TV series, very good. The lite version of time travel is really done. As someone who lost their dad at an early age this movie hit hard.
This is my favorite movie. Another trippy great movie is ABOUT TIME. Nobody's reacting to these 2 great movies
I love this movie! Great actors and such a cool story!
This is another one of my favorites. I love all the movies you are doing!!!! Your doing different movies that one one else is doing. I'm getting tired of all the same movies that everyone is doing.

I love this movie so much. One of the most underrated movies ever. Love the cast in this one. However, I had to watch this movie several times to fully understand it. :D
This is the most underrated Hollywood movie ever.
Love this movie. 🧡 Never understood why it wasn't more popular. Story and cast were great. ... Thx for your awesome reaction.

I NEVER Thought I'd see anyone react to this gem ^_^
This is a movie that really sticks with you - so excited to watch the reaction!
Up next, "The Count of Monte Cristo"...?
Reaction request: Beethoven (1992), Ace Ventura (1994), and Space Jam (1996)
One of my favorite movies! Jim Caviezel is so good, you should give The Count of Monte Cristo a watch, he's great in that too 👍
The Count of Monte Cristo is free on UA-cam right now!
"I'm still here chief", gets me every time.
This reaction was dope! Super trippy movie but heart warming by the end. Definitely a good sci fi film!
Catch u later OG
LOVED this reaction vid by you for this gem, thanks!
It's one thing to use 'time travel' for the parental bonding trope, but to throw in a whodunit was cool. Jim Caviezel stars in another sorta time travel flick, Deja Vu, with Denzel Washington, and is also another gem worth trying out.
Goooood movie. Haven't seen it in yrs.
I'm buckled down. 🙂
For a different super trippy mind - f movie, Jacob's Ladder.
Liked the second half better than the first, thanks to the whole ‘stop the serial killer before Mom dies’ plot. Also enjoyed the anti-smoking message of the movie
I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH THANK YOU FOR REACTING 🥰🥰🥰
In the original timeline, John's mom wasnt at the hospital because she was arranging a funeral for the dad, and so that deadly combination killed Jack Shepherd.
In the new timeline, she catches the deadly combination in time, and he lives to kill 7 more women, including the woman that saved him.
I had forgotten this flim. It's been a long long time since I've seen it.
Great movie! Another wonderful movie with Dennis Quaid is "Undercover Blues" - recommend!
Yes, another favorite. So much fun!
Frankly, like this one more than Looper.
This is a good one. I can't remember if you've watched it, but Frailty is also really good.
That was a fun time!!!
Sometimes, all you need is a classic 3 for $33 from blockbuster.
If you like this, you're going to love The Jacket (2005)
One of my fav time oriented movies!!! Can I ask if you have seen Lawless I may put that in as a request for patroon if you haven’t!
If you thought this movie messed with you Sam, never watch ''Event Horizon''. It will scar you for life. Just putting it out there. 😉
I’ve never actually seen anyone do a reaction to this movie so thanks for this, because I think the awesomeness of this movie is severely underrated.😊😊😊
I LOVE the ending of this movie! When Dennis Quaid comes out with the shotgun I'm like "YES!!!"
Ooooh. This is going to be a good one. :-)
This is one of my favorite movies. It just hits home for me.
Love this movie but makes me tear up everytime
Ah man, another CLASSIC that doesn't get much attention! I don't like Dennis Quaid AT ALL, but I love this movie!!!
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe.😊
YES!!! So excited, one of my favorite films! They made a TV show out of this film...i think its on Netflix. Also really good.
And now i feel like watching The Butterfly Effect cause my brain has decided these movies go hand in hand.
I lost my dad when I was 5 and this movie always brings me tears. Oh, how I wish I could have a moment with him. He was LAPD but, didn’t fall in the line of duty just a stupid motorcycle accident coming home from the station.
I'm so sorry for your loss
@@OGBReacts it’s been 50 yrs so, I’m cool. Just this movie brings up what if.
Going to try to request we need to talk about kevin on your patreon once it opens up again fingers cross I get there before its sold out. 😛
21:12 - in that moment he saved his son's life.
One of my favorite movies. Thank you.
This movie was quite the rollercoaster ride.
😃 “Goodbye, ho-bag!”
LOVE this movie. It's so nice when reactors watch movies off the beat and path of the 'cliché'. Such an underrated movie.
One of my all-time faves!
Hell yes! Love this movie.
The killer would have died the night the dad died in the fire. Because the mom/nurse would have gotten called away because of it, and wouldn’t have caught the dr’s mistake, and the killer would have died.
Thank You Ryan..
This is an Absolute Underrated Classic..
Love Jim Caviezel ❤️
Insomnia sucks but I wouldn't have come across this video if I could sleep. This is a great movie and an original plot. One of my favorites.
Yay!!!!! I've always loved this move. so glad you enjoyed it
I thoroughly enjoy this film every time I rewatch it.
You should check out Project X or put it in one of your polls or something it's a funny ass movie and it's just about a crazy party
love your reactions, having a binge atm lol
Wow I have been waiting for this reaction so long. One of the great time travel movies I ever seen. You should also see Count of Monte Cristo with the same lead actor Jim Cazvell.
The Butterfly Effect ...
Must Watch ..
It just fits...
I agree
I know if no one else that I subscribed to that reviewed this awesome movie ty soooo much!
One thing I never understood: how did he explain the wallet to Satch in the future
This is one of my favorites. Identity lis another good one
My absolute favorite time travel (sort of) movie...and favorite reactor!
You're too kind!! Thank you!

Cool reaction as always Sam, take care sweetie 🥰
Great reaction to this movie. We all love you
Great Reaction!!!
Love your review!

Ouch no "Yahoo1" plate?
I totally forgot about it 💀 I’m so sorry!

2:45 "I really one see the Northern Lights, actually. One day. It's on the bucket list."
You know, there are also _Southern_ Lights. They're not as well known, but they're caused by a similar phenomenon The Northern Lights are referred to as the Aurora Borealis. The Southern Lights are referred to as the Aurora _Australis._
_Frequency._ It's a good illustration of just how _weird_ things get when you delve into the realm of _time_ travel.
13:10 "I'm pretty sure that it was the guy that, when he visited her in the hospital, there was that whole thing with the dude and the doctor giving him more... you know... whatever... and she stopped him."
Sam, this was a good feat of reasoning.
And she was Angelina Jolie's lover in Gia.
4:37 "He's- _Ohhhh._ That's weird."
That is often the case when it comes to sci-fi movies. 🤷
22:32 Yeah. Weird movie.
Love love this movie, was always a favorite with our family. I just have to forget what a racist, Trump lovin, nut job he is currently so I can still enjoy the movie.
Great reaction, I’m glad you watched it and enjoyed it!
