a lot of people blame young people for thinking we know it all and don't want to learn but there are slim to none mentors willing to pass the information down !
Anyone else think that this interview is the perfect elaboration of "You ain't got the answers, Sway"? The stigmatism against black people in fashion was real.
Kerwin. You are such an authentic interviewer and kind human being. Your energy is so genuine and it shines so bright in this series. The conversations just flow. I have one serious question though.. where did you get that hat? I love it!!
I’m only 18 min. in and I’m dead hooked!!! I knew of HBA and their huge impact but it’s very interesting hearing their perspective as they of a small group w/ Virgil and others with this type of impact on this time...
Two legends. Came across this again like two years since the first time I saw it. Feel like my attitudes toward fashion have fluctuated a lot over that time but Shayne and Ian remain as compelling as ever
I’ve been looking for a never trust a church girl shirt for so long, I love this interview, and having a longtime eye on the fellas I really appreciate the effort Kerwin has put into himself, astonished and proud. ❤️
@@mainecurtis1192 The one with the long hair. I remember watching the Virgil Abloh Louis fashion show video and seeing him singing with Blood Orange (Dev Hynes n. Co.)
This is so interesting, a great watch honestly. Truthfully got into fashion after their rise so was never a fan of the highly popular designs which I saw once I did become interested because by that time fashion houses had already replicated their style for years on end, but I love these two now and hope to see whats in store in the future (both figuratively and literally)
It still was very important ,I like his interviews cause he’s himself he’s not tryna put on a fake face , and he speaking like he is because he was there , these where the people who he looked up to
So like whatever, I'm older, loathe social media but have always Loved music of all old and new! I watched you're Travis Barker then onto Posts and Then I found this amazing Conversation!! I appreciate this truthful informative dialogue with these OGs it was sooooo Vast and Raw. So thank you for You I'm a total Fan now, you're so Sweet!!
it would be sick to build a squad but i've spent more energy trying to organize people than i've ever received in return. so i fly solo out of impatience and necessity. i have to make something today and i'm not gonna let trying to assemble a team get in the way of that.
duuuuuude shayne has always been my favorite designer of all time, HBA was something else, some of the most disruptive runway shows ever made. any time there was a new HBA season i had never been so excited to see runway shows before until his.
came back to this because of the convo about social media. Even now after the pandemic, everything they said is the reason i don't use it or post ideas. (literally saw a sandy liang bts of her pinning pinterest pictures of other peoples work/concepts to her inspo-board for her collection) It's true it's created a groundhog day and this warped sense of individualism in a sheep era and a need for instant validation to do what you want to do.(ian was real for that diet prada comment lol) . It's hard these days to build community in these industries as a creative. It seems like no one wants to collaborate, learn or straight up ask for entirely egotistical reasons. And the point on black excellence vs black creatives. I'm queer/latinx but I feel this even within my own and no one talks about it. Also I'm so glad they talked about the Aphex graphic and boychild I've always wanted to know. The footwear topic was so true too, I see that today w brands like Postergirl etc.
I know squat about fashion, but everything in this whole conversation is so damn applicable to being a creative in general. Learn and humble yourself, apply yourself before you start trying to influence.
There’s an alternate universe where Shayne and Ian won the LVMH award and are designing for Louis Vuitton instead of Virgil. What a universe that would be....
