Tears formed in my eyes when they got to the part about Walt's 100th birthday, when Richard Sherman played Walt's favorite song "Feed the Birds", blew a kiss at the Walt statue... and then had a bird come down onto the piano. "That was Walt."
Oh, the joy! *sniff, sniff*
SAME HERE MAN!!!
I cried.
Same! Oh how much joy Walt has given us, I really hope he was happy with his work because they have made thousands of children's childhoods ten times better
JIMENOPOLIX same here 😢
Same, he was a very special man to these people
My Wife loved to feed the birds. She passed away 19 years ago last Nov. I cry when I hear "Feed the Birds".
Lyle Johnson oh my goodness, well god bless you. Know she’s with you every day in your heart ❤️
In case anybody hasn't said it yet: Walt worked very hard at getting Jane Darwell for the Bird woman. She had long been in retirement and was living in a retirement home, and she didn't especially feel like being in one more picture. But he promised something like a private car would pick her up, limited shooting of only a few hours, and she finally relented to appear. And, yes--she and the song make the movie.
I saw the movie first when I was about eighteen or so and just loved it; I still watch the movie at least once a year. It is a priceless gem of a movie and practically perfect in every way.
Steven Torrey I had no clue that was here! I loved her and still do in Shirley Temple and the Grapes Of Wrath! Until I looked it up I did not connect her in all of those. Of course in Mary Poppins she is covered in birds, LOL.Thanks for the insight!
Steven Torrey Amen to that.
He knew she was ill and probably didn’t have much time left so he made sure she was treated like a star. And she was so grateful to him.
That part at the end.... oh, my God.... I am crying. That touched my heart. I believe that that bird flying down was indeed the spirit of Mr. Walt Disney. Even though he is no longer with us, his spirit still lives in the hearts of those he touched with his magical genius. His legacy.... his spirit.... his magic.... will live on.... forever.
I agree
And yet Walt had a darker side - informing the FBI on his ‘Communist’ employees and teaming up with J. Edgar Hoover.
All that glistens....
www.theguardian.com/world/2006/nov/26/film.usa
This is amazing. However, I believe the film should've gotten another Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for David Tomlinson because his portrayal of George Banks was priceless.
I agree! He was fantastic.
two bit actor in a two bit part
Agree! He is my favourite character.
"Finally, my thanks to a man who made a wonderful movie, and who made all this possible in the first place: Mr. Jack Warner."
OOOOOOOH! BUUUURN!!!!
Clearly he took it with good humour.
Daniella Dahoui 😂 And with such class!
😂
Best part of this clip!! Lol! Love it!!!
I always cry whenever I hear "Feed the Birds" or "Let's Go Fly A Kite" - they're just such beautiful, soul-touching pieces. So, needless to say, I was weeping by the end of this video. Oh I do hope I can one day show my children Mary Poppins, & they too will love it every bit as much as I.
Thank you Walt Disney for making Mary Poppins and other great movies, may the movies be forever in our hearts! RIP Walt Disney!!
Very inspiring. These 6 segments are a true find.
And tears are streaming down my face. What a beautiful story. I will always love Mary Poppins. Even in college I still enjoy it. Such an amazing man. I wish I knew him. :)
I couldn't hold my tears when I saw the part with the bird. He was such a great and lovely person.
Mary Poppins will forever have a special place in my heart....
my favourite movie since I was a child. thank you Walt Disney for creating this insane movie and PL travers for creating the books!!
I saw Mary poppins at the cinema when I was a child and it has always been my favourite. I love the music and the songs.
Damn go Julie! To thank the man that turned her down for a movie she should have been apart of even used her voice for the singing parts in My Fair Lady love that go Julie!
the first film i ever watched in a theater, & man I picked a good one as my first..i was exactly 7 yrs old & i thought it was the greatest thing I had ever been a part of..I fell in love with Mary Poppins/Julie Andrews immediately..my first big time crush for sure...the aura, alure & grandness of an older theater in Columbus was simply overwhelming..it was scene after scene of pure magic..you couldn't be a young child & not absolutely love that film..certainly everything about that movie & experience was incredibly special..I believe I watched it 6 times or so over the next 6 weeks.. just couldn't get enough of the magic i suppose, that Walt & his fabulous crew had so lovingly & magically created..The Sound of Music & Mary Poppins are the 2 greatest films ever made..& Julie was in both...Dick V.D. was just incredible as well, & every other actor & actress in every scene was perfectly acted & perfectly cast..it was the perfect children's masterpiece..I'll never..ever forget Mary Poppins.
.Walt would be rolling in his grave if he knew what they have turned his magic Disney Company into.a satanic Zionist controlled clusterflock of non-stop violence, filth, horrible music scores,& lousy, immediately forgettable nothingness they have the audacity to even call "movies",.& todays actors & actresses?they fit right in ..a bunch of talent-less nobodies with Angelina & Brad leading the pack .Christian values & morals? long ago gone..what a bloody crying shame
This...probably my favorite Disney movie...is the epitome of all the joy, innocence and incredible amount of happiness I had growing up. Granted I was not born until '82 but I grew up with ALL of Walt's original movies like these, from the 50's and 60's and so forth. Disney today is OK but nothing like when Walt was around, he truly had an incredible talent. I miss these movies but I am so glad I had the priveldge of growing up with them. Thank you, Walt
I cried like a baby at the end...
I went to see Mary Poppins when I was a child it opened at the Drive in and my Mum and Dad took my brother and I to see it. That night my world changed forever I'm now 62 years old and still I remember that magical moment when Mary Poppins floated down from the clouds with her umbrella to that door step. I still feel the magical thrill in my heart every time I watch the movie. I passed that thrill down to my children and now I have passed it on to my grand children. A timeless movie that gives hope and love to so many children around the world. It has to be the most memorable children's movie of all time.
My heart has falling to 100 little Pieces where they are talking about Walt Disney...And after 2 min... it's finally broke !!! I wish i had known him as a person and had the chance to make my own picture of him and his personality!!
Thank you for posting this. Walt Disney was an amazing kind man and was one of god's angles. The people that hate on him can stick it. Mary Poppins probably my favorite film. I also wanted to add if you haven't seen Saving Mr. Banks go see it. It's also a great movie and Tom hanks does a wonderful job. Bring Tissues you will cry
Walt Disney will always be a legend. He has made films that has touched the hearts of so many generations after gerations. God bless him and his family.
Lots of people might overlook that Julie Andrews is an extremely beautiful young woman here in this movie. So pretty and she possess one of the greatest voices ever. I had a huge crush on her in 1964 at the age of 10.
Feed the Birds is the most moving score of all time. I get goosebumps everytime I hear it.
The old lady was also the matriarch øf the Joad family. In Grapes of Wrath. A scene I will never forget is her scene where she is leaving her home and finds moments from the St. Louis world’s A card and a pair of earrings. She read the postcard and looking in the mirror holds up the earrings to her ears and for s moment she is the girl who received the earrings and then we see in the sadness of her expression the return to the realities of her old age. Never makes me cry, for it is too true to allow one to succumb to mere sentiment.
This was so good! Walt Disney was a wonderful man. The only thing I wish they had put on was the Story of Dick Vandyke as the Old Man. Very funny.
That ending was so emotional, Mary Poppins was a truly wonderful movie and Walt Disney an outstanding man.
I remember when I was a kid Disney would play on Sunday evening and my Brother and I would be glued to the TV. Well about half way through you would always hear "Get ready for church" WHY TV PRODUCERS! WHY!!! Mary Poppins is the best most touching movies ever made and it will never grow old.
R.I.P Walt Disney and God bless you for making such a legendary movie. You will never be forgotten.
I'm 15, and I LOVE this movie! I will defenetily show this wonderful movie to my kids!
silly me. getting all upset n teary eyed , here at the end. dear oh dear.
Thanks so much for posting this. Watched all 6 parts when I should have gone to bed. I loved this movie and everything about it when it first came out when I was a kid, and I loved watching it and playing the songs over and over again with my own kids. The comments from all the contributors makes it all the more poignant. Just like watching Mary Poppins, this documentary made me smile, laugh, cry, and feel joy, all at the right time.
What beautiful music. Fantastic that this film brought so much happiness. We need more things like this. Bless all those wonderful people.
What a wonderful magical film , best ever Walt Disney film , I watch it every Christmas and it brings magic to the room
Wonderful documentary! I teared up at the end. So many good memories of Disney movies, songs and the parks. It was such a huge part of my childhood. I just watched the movie, "Saving Mr. Banks," before watching this documentary. If you haven't seen it yet, I can heartily recommend it. It's a very, very special film. So we'll done.
As child watch Walt Disney film movies on tv back 1970s were very special moments my childhood days. Nice bring back classic hits film movies. This one them. Wish Walt 100 year old birthday. And rest of all cast and actors all did fantastic job. Thank you for share to family enjoy this classic film movie. 100%. Get close to 54 year in Aug 4 1964. This film movie live on forever and ever in are hearts. Many and many more years. Classic hit film movie.
...and still is: I think he's in us, he's given out his wonderful creativity and love for us and when aevery single person has watch Mary Poppins it lingers and makes us realise just how wonderful he and the cast is :)
No matter what if Mary Poppins is on tv I will stop what I'm doing and sit and watch it. Also if I turn to it and Fred the Birds is going on I'll sing along to it! I love this movie and I hope they will not remake it, it's perfect in absolutely every way! It's one of the few movies that shouldn't get a remake!
Best movie ever, I wish they would make more movies like this. Theirs just something warm and comforting about this movie, that makes you sing and dance, laugh, and cry. Just a beautiful movie, and practically perfect in every way just like Mary Poppins.
Well Disney nearly went bankrupt in the 1970s trying to replicate the success of Mary Poppins ! And besides , if more movies were like Mary Poppins it would hardly be the special classic beloved film it has become. And don’t forget that horrible long delayed Emily Blunt sequel ….oh how I wanted to love that movie! But it was dreadful. Absolutely awful.
I LOVE Mary Poppins! Everything, the list is endless.
This movie will always be the best classic of all. And I am looking forward on the sequel
... and now I'm crying...
Mary Poppins is one of the greatest films of all time, IMHO.
i m fall in love with MARY POPPINS" and WALT DISENY ...over again.....ohh i luv this movie,,,
My favorite childhood movie. I grew up in the 90s watching this. 💗
I saw Mary Poppins aged six at the cinema and adored it. Now as a proud grandmother of three beautiful grandchildren, I am called “ Poppins “ and my husband, Pops. I am practically perfect in every way and my handbag is enormous. 😁
So many touching stories contained in this series of videos, thankyou for posting. i saw this not very long after it's release, then countless times later on in VHS and DVD over the course of time. Though it has been some time since I saw it in entirety, to find this collection on utube, if even for just a moment in time, I feel like a kid again ! Thankyou for the gift.
There is nothing I love more than I love disney
What an amazing time ..an amazing journey and a dream come true.
Walt Disney is just an inspiration.
That last part where he mentioned the bird flying beneath him really got me. Walt was such a good man. :)
The greatest film ever, so much fun. fantasy and emotion. Many a time I have had to dry my eyes watching it. Wonderful to see how they all enjoyed making it. Many many thanks for sharing this.
Thank you Walt Disney. Thank you so much.
Yes, like so many others here, I love Mary Poppins, the first film I remember seeing as a young boy.
I've always loved Mary Poppins & always will!
That ending had me crying.
Thanks for posting the making. I loved it. Especially the last part where Richard Sherman performed feed the birds on Walt Disney’s 100th bday and a bird came in. Really touching. I anyway shed some tears in the movie when Mr Banks walks down to the bank with feed the birds music in the background.
Wonderful movie still today I saw it when I was 16 and now my great granddaughter loves it❤️
The part about the bird flying down made me cry :')
tears rolling down my cheeks….. that bird was Walt Disney!!
This is BY FAR my favorite movie of all time. I will never tire of jumping in and out of chalk drawings, marching on rooftops, having tea on the ceiling, flying kites in the park, or feeding the birds by the cathedral. I will always sing the songs, applaud during the credits, and keep Walt's message in mind. Thank you to everyone who was a part of this magical film, for shaping me into the person I am today, and for bringing that magic to the world.
I cried like four times during this. My favorite movie as a kid, and will probably remain one of my favorite movies of all time for the rest of my life.
wow. i ended up in tears. there really aren't words to describe how fantastic this movie is and how much of an impact it has had.
such a shame that today's film companies doesn't produce classics any more like the sound of music and Mary poppins..the 20th century was like the peak of engaging films with amazing singers and actors you don't see much these days
Thank you very much redmorgankidd for sharing this with us all.
I loved it as a wee boy and still love it as I approach my sixties - (in a few years time.)
"Feed the Birds" still brings a lump to my throat!
Thank you once more!
Thank you very much, Mr. Disney! It's a lovely story! A lovely movie!! I have tears in my eyes.....
I really love....Mr. Walt Disney... !! .. I miss disney's old days.^^
Is there a man on Earth who hasn't fallen in love with Julie Andrews at some point in his life?
+thecuckookid Is there a human being on earth who hasn't fallen in love with her ?????
+thecuckookid She's practically perfect in every way :)
+thecuckookid I agree with you my friend, she is undoubtedly one of the truly beautiful women of the world.
What people respond to in her is that innocence that also. meant such much to Walt Disney.
No me
omg thank you so much for posting this !! Just saw saving mr banks a few days ago, and been listening to the sherman brothers work non stop scince :D and what a great cast mary poppins seemed to have ! I wish I could have witnessed that ! Also, if let's go fly a kite didn't make me cry before (ehhm yes it did ;)) then it will for sure now that I know they wrote it because of their dad! GOCCHHH jkjle .. love those guys! Wonderful documentary tribute. Thank you so much for posting so we could enjoy this.
Thank you very much for posting these! Mary Poppins is my absolute favorite movie, I watch it every time it comes on tv.
So Amazing and sad at the same time ! 😢
Walt must've been so so proud of this film. We're blessed that Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke are still with us.
Such a wonderful movie...practically perfect in every way.
Nicely done and spit spot to all!!
Walt Disney is the best director in film history.Long Live Walt Disney for all eternity. We all love you walt and we will never ever forget you.

What an amazing movie ♥
WOW - speechless.
This is such a wonderful and exceptional movie, and this documentary does it justice, so moving ;-) Thank you ...
Amazing 😊 such Great memories from That movie.
This made me cry. I´m so stupid.
I liked this even more than saving mr banks
that was lovely - thank you very much for uploading.
Cried at the end!
Thanks for sharing, this is one of my favorite movies. Kids are missing this kind of quality movie now a days.
Brilliant- thank you so much
Thank you so much for uploading!
I cried at the end part.
It was so emotional.
Saving Mr. Banks brought me here
+makktre08 Mary Poppins brought me here...... and after watching this I watched Saving Mr Banks and after that I watched Mary Poppins and after that I watched The Sound of Music...... hahahahaha
Ilove too mary poppins and the sound of music Iove doo ree mi
I cried at the end, Walt is my hero and he discovered one of my other hero's Julie Andrews, Thank you Walt for giving me a childhood and such wonderful memories and thank you for choosing Julie, I know Jack Warner was probably green after seeing how successful she was in Mary Poppins which in my opinion is FAR better than My Fair Lady and Julie your much better than Audrey Hepburn by miles and miles, I'm glad you got to prove that with all your best actress awards for Mary Poppins and while on the subject The Sound Of Music was much better than My Fair Lady also so eat your heart out Mr Jack Warner. I think if Eliza Doolittle would say YOUR A FOOL MAN what were you thinking !!!!!!
+Mwa Mwa Oh good...im not the only one!! This movie made such an impact on my life when I was a child. Thank you Walt for making the perfect movie!
Sarah99241 No other movie will ever top Mary Poppins it really is Walt's biggest achievement...... just wish PL Travers liked it so they could have made sequels back then while Julie Andrews was still young!!!!
I absolutely agree with you! "Mary Poppins" is so much better than "My Fair Lady"! "Mary Poppins" totally should have won that Best Picture Oscar!
Mwa Mwa I
@Jonnyriffic your not the only one who is in tears. this is the best film they have ever made.
Fantastic!! Superbly inspirational. 😘😘😘😘
Wow. I’m ugly crying at the part where the bird came down to the piano ❤️
Back in December 2013 "Mary Poppins" was one of 25 films received an honor that My Fair Lady has not received yet that being selected by the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress for film preservation!
Thank you so much for sharing this, really appreciated.
In my opinion, "Mary Poppins" should have won Best Picture, Best Director and Best Cinematography over "My Fair Lady". I liked "My Fair Lady", but I think "Mary Poppins" is not only the greatest Disney film ever made, I actually think it's the greatest musical film ever made! Plus it would have been amazing to see Walt Disney win a Best Picture Academy Award!
thank you for posting these. truly appreciate it. :)
Unforgetable
The only person who didn't enjoy the film was the author of Mary Poppins, P. L. Travers.
Also Richard Sherman played next to Walt Disney's Statue on December 5, 2001.
I know wasn't that beautiful! But have you seen Saving Mr.Banks it's a tremendous movie!
I have
+Shadrak Wilde I always thought of her as being a bitch with no sense of humour then I watched Saving Mr Banks and I felt so bad for thinking that, she went through a lot and the end was heart breaking the way she was sobbing, I wonder if that really happened now that I think about it hahahaha
Apparently later in her life she was interviewed about it and commented that looking at it now, it’s not so bad and rather charming in some ways
thanks so much for the upload!
disney singer12 completely agree at the end when the bird comes down then just goes straight up into the skies thats just really really emotinal.
I love that picture at 5:58 with Matthew, Julie, and baby Emma. It's so cute. The way Emma is looking in awe at Matthew and the way Julie is lovingly looking at Emma are just precious.
