LIVE Radio recording of Elton talking, playing and singing with famous London DJ Roger Scott on the Capital Radio Show. Unusual solo piano version of Island Girl!
Bernie Taupin just writes down words in verses, sends them to Elton. Can't imagine how great Bernie must feel when he hears the music playing that Elton wrote while Elton sings the words that Taupin wrote. Elton reads the words, then hears music in his head and he writes the music to go along with those words. They both prospered remarkably well using one another. Made them multi, multi millionaires.
When I was young and pretentious, this was one of my least favourites. I love it now and this is easily my favourite version. What a performer he was. He had everything.
+RonnieFriend 00:37 Remarkably, his voice and piano playing sound even better here winging it live in a radio station's studio in 1976 than they did on the originally released track "Island Girl" on "Rock of the Westies", IMO. No special mixing with many takes is ever needed with this guy in his prime as we can listen to here. Fantastic.
Well that was a big treat for whoever heard this live. His talent is incredible here❤❤❤
WOW. He just pulled a song off the top of his head and played it, and it sounds incredible. This is why I worship Elton John.
That is a beautifully miked piano for the mid 70s

And they've never worked in the same room either. Elton said they'll kill each other if they did.
