LCDs don't necessarily offer more realistic colors, not sure you're correct on that mate. If I'm not mistaken, AMOLED has a significantly wider color gaumet. The pixels being individually lit makes that possible and allows better HDR, AMOLED is even better at true color reproduction then standard OLED. It's just like IPS vs TN, designers and artists wouldn't say IPS is over saturated, just that TN _(like LCD)_ is limited. OLED is even more color accurate than IPS.
the thing i like the most about AMOLED screens is the blacks are well blacks its not a weird dark gray because of the back-light. dark scene movies are much better.
Newer LCD displays are now much better than earlier. I have the Redmi Note 8 Pro and even it has LCD it has awesome colours. If I turn the brightness to minimum, the blacks are almost physical as AMOLED.

Netherland Soccor I have never used my phone as much as I use my 3T. I think its amazing. Most of the time I don't open up my laptop, 3T is so amazing that for browsing that I forget about my laptop. I use youtube regularly and I have no problems.
LCD-true colors and display. I like capturing what it really looks like. if deep blacks are your major argument, that's lame. Amoled-over saturation and more burn in chances. LCD burn in can be fixed easier than Amoled too...LG G6 for me

Jarrod, i noticed ips lcd have more accurate colors than super amoled. While taking photos ips lcd have similar colors to what we see to compare to oled. As oled looks yellowish and while using flash oled doesn't capture it nicely. The phones are vivo v15 and vivo s1 pro. Eventhough s1 pro have better camera. Why is that?
TEAM LCD!! Before i comment I want to say” we are blessed to even have a phone in life.”🙂 The only Amoled and Oled i can tolerate is in a affordable cheap budget smartphone not in a T.V.! I want to watch natural real T.V. not fake saturated colors! LCD looks so beautiful and naturally realistic!!😍 The Amoled looks so dark, dead, and dull! Some displays can't turn the pixels back on fast enough, so you get this weird smear of black when there is motion. Some apps allow you to disable "true" blacks and make the pixels very dark instead.
I have problem reading small fonts on my lcd phone. Not on my samsung phone with amoled. Idk why but now i know, thanks to you! backlights not good for my eye... and oh the screen temperature on amoled doesnt get hot that fast
I prefer an AMOLED display over the LCD. My phone is using an LCD. It looks great but I prefer an AMOLED display to take advantage on the always on display feature.
actually AMOLED is brighter than LCD. However, this depends on the screen itself. i.e. s7 has the brightest screen on any phone nowadays, but 6p's AMOLED is just so dim
To be honest I've been using my Nexus 6P daily since around October 2015 and I don't have any burn in at all, so I don't think so unless you're leaving the screen on for a very long period of time and displaying the same content, but yeah I haven't noticed anything after all this time.

Burn in on a S7edge, lightly used, purchased 16/17...pink screen.....started beginning of 19.....really....if there selling known defective phones the sale price should be a lot cheaper...they know there is a burn in problem with amoled phones...no warning. I guess it depends on the specific panel, I used my 6P for 3 years without any screen issues. I think in general LCD has less issues over time, I don't hear as many people mentioning problems at least.
I also have a yellowish white problem with my one plus 5 on default display settings my screen shows a bit yellowish colour on white background or when I compare my phone with other ips display phones my op5 shows a little yellowish display do you know why it's happening to my op5 or it's because of optic AMOLED nature that shows true accurate colours
My phones amoled.. I just end up turning it to natural colour and dimmer settings I cant tell the difference between my lcb tablet and phone I dont like the overly bright colours

Im planning to buy poco x2 with a lcd rather than the realme x2 which has amoled, because the poco x2 has 120 hertz display and 6gb of ram i think with a lower price of the realme x2 ,which has only 4gb of ram, 60 hertz display (60 hertz is great enough, but the price comparison of the 2 phones is almost the same) the realme x2 is expensive because of the amoled oh and also the 2 phones have the same processor, the advantage of the poco x2 is the 120 hertz display and larger ram for almost the same price

Amoled screens are famous for their absolutely deep blacks, and this is the case with my amoled when streaming a video footage with deep black backgrounds from UA-cam, for example. But : When downloading the same footage and saving it on the phone storage, and then viewing it, the blacks are no longer blacks, they become dark grey or even grey sometimes!! I wonder what is this strange behaviour of an amoled display! It is not a defaulty device, but it seems that quality of Samsung's own units are way better than these which are made for other manufacturers! Can you help me understanding this PARDOX?! Thanx in advance.
My best guess would be that when you download it perhaps it's transcoded and the blacks are no longer true blacks with value #000000 ? You could try take a screenshot of the downloaded video perhaps and use a colour picker on it to see if it's actually black or not.

Just minutes a go I found that in MX Player, when I select the SW decoder it gives me the deepest blacks, true black 100%. where is the other two decoders (HW, HW+) won't give the desired results! It seems that the built in video player in the phone doesn't support the SW decoding. That was great interesting result, which I liked to share with U.
Better picture = IPS Better blacks = AMOLED Both actually produce better images, both have pros and cons. I honestly prefer IPS over OLED for image quality. OLEDs may use more battery charge compared to IPS if brightness is set to max (Puts your phone in danger of Burn-in). IPS has the same problem that's the called image retention. If you don't want to end up with screen problems for both, at least turn off your phone screen when you're not using it.
Jarrod'sTech I find amoleds are a bit too harsh. im not a big one for oversaturated colors and wide contrast on something that close to my face. plus the white levels on amoled have alot to be desired. I have an xperia and they produce accurate colors and pretty great black levels already. I know some phones do amoled right, but to me the ips panels don't burn in, they are comfortable to look at, and I just enjoy how they look.

I just don't get a sense of color differentiation as much as I do an lcd panel. plus sonys xreality engine is truly top of the line. when I am holding their tv in my hand, I can tell. I look at samsungs displays and just hate them. I am looking forward to lgs OLED panels to be put into a phone though. I dont think samsungs amoled will be able to compete with lgs oled

@@JarrodsTech because amoled can save battery in dark mode, that you can not do in lcd. In amoled haves a good collor and view good angel. In lcd you have to work with adjusting the sceen colour.
Just an update, I've been using the 6P for over 3 years now, still no problems with burn in with the screen always on about 50% brightness.

just got an AMOLED, and it's really nice.
I'm very worried about the burn-in issue...that's what is stopping me from having my phone at full brightness
I have not had any issues in over 3 years with it on around 50% brightness.

Jarrod'sTech I find amoleds are a bit too harsh. im not a big one for oversaturated colors and wide contrast on something that close to my face. plus the white levels on amoled have alot to be desired. I have an xperia and they produce accurate colors and pretty great black levels already. I know some phones do amoled right, but to me the ips panels don't burn in, they are comfortable to look at, and I just enjoy how they look.
Fair enough, I'm a bit over the over saturated colours, I have noticed that. No burn in after almost 2 years of use though with my Nexus 6P :)
Jarrod'sTech I think nexus was one of the few phones to do amoled right. to me it's weirs. I just don't get a sense of color differentiation as much as I do an lcd panel. plus sonys xreality engine is truly top of the line. when I am holding their tv in my hand, I can tell. I look at samsungs displays and just hate them. I am looking forward to lgs OLED panels to be put into a phone though. I dont think samsungs amoled will be able to compete with lgs oled

I prefer vivid and clear display screen.
with nature color, sharp and clear.
What should I have to choose??

@@JarrodsTech because amoled can save battery in dark mode, that you can not do in lcd. In amoled haves a good collor and view good angel. In lcd you have to work with adjusting the sceen colour.

Well, I have used both the displays, apart from deep blacks on OLED, I don't see any major difference between an OLED & an IPS.
Lcd is old. And amoled is new. So amoled is better.

I think both aren't great in the sun, my 6P is still difficult to use outside.
