Watching several of your amazing videos made me want to finally give War Thunder a try. I found it incredibly difficult to play, which makes your gameplay so much more impressive! Keep up the good videos! 😊
That makes me happy! And I'm glad you wanna give it a go. It is a difficult game, so you'll have to have patience. The kills will come in time! The game rewards good decisions just as much as good flying. Good luck :)
I like how the game includes the props spinning in opposite directions. That was actually a thing in the development of this iconic war bird. Props rotating in opposite directions greatly reduced vibration that was an issue with prototypes. Great attention to detail. Also great computer programming skills.
J15 my beloved. Almost the same speed as the p47, but a bit more maneuverable and better climb rate (And if you ask me also better armament) plus you get 2 engines so if one is hit you can still fly it home. What's not to love on it really :D? Your pick is the P38L 5LO I assume?
This plane series ( P-38 ) is probably the best between 3.3-4.7 Br . Very fast , great climb , turn is very good for a plane that big and high altitude performance is nearly unmatched .
Yeah turn is surprisingly good. Especially with combat flaps. I prefer the BR 4.7 version as it has an airbrake. You can dive a bit more aggressively knowing you have a safety net.
I do genuinely hate sim battle, but watching your videos makes me want to try some more. I'll probably stick to Air RB though. I don't consider it kill stealing if you're playing an objective based game mode. If this were a deathmatch, sure, but it's not.
I appreciate that the lightning is hard to play but tbh a lot of the pilots taking the controls do not help themselves. A single buddy of mine and myself jumped a 4 man flight of P-38s in a pair of zeroes and won within 20 seconds because their entire flight had decided to cut grass on the jungle floor instead of climbing to put their high altitude characteristics to use. They also tried to turn, which by the time we had already jumped on them from above, was just a compounding issue.
Great video! When you were returning to base with low fuel, you shouldn't have used WEP because it uses more fuel without giving enough power for it to make sense. I would have probably actually throttled down to at least 80%
I've heard that the best way is to just WEP and gain altitude. But I might have mixed that up with when you have critical engine damage. Maybe throttling down to 15% or something could have worked too. If I have bound manual engine controls I could also have used prop feathering to glide even better.
@@involuntarycommander8804 Yeah you definitely got it mixed up. If your engine is about to stop working due to damage then you might as well get as much power out of it as you can before it goes. But if you're low on fuel, you can go waaaaay longer if you throttle down.
I’d like to see you use the spitfire F mk XVI, also would you say it’s better than a spitfires with the same battle rating? As it can roll very quick and nimble controls
Is that the clipped wing spitfire? If so, yes that one is probably the most nimble plane in the game. However it is extremely unstable making it hard to aim. But I'll definitely want to give it a go!
@@involuntarycommander8804yea it is clipped wings, I really like the design of it (also is it only unstable in simulator, as I play on Xbox and playing simulator would be difficult (I’m going to try it sometime, just gotta set up the controls) but the spitfire F me XVI seems stable in arcade and realistic. Love your channel btw and you actually reply! Thanks.
Yeah, I'm gonna try set up the controls to be more stable in it. I feel like there are a lot of hidden potential in that plane. Thanks, I appreciate it :)
I think I will give it a go soon, could be fun! Do you have a specific plane in mind? Which period of the cold war interests you the most? And thanks :)
You've made a video on your head tracking settings, do you think in the near future you'll make a video on your sim settings? Not very many videos online and you sir fly amazingly.
@@involuntarycommander8804I think the p 51 d, h or the cannonstang. I personally have fallen in love with it, and use it all the time, as well as am very wary when there's a good players of one in the same room as my 109
Nice video, nice gameplay, nice commentary! Subbed. Do you use TrackIR or something else for head tracking? Another comment mentioned the idea of doing something Cold War - I vote for this as well, maybe something from the early years that still focused on guns or the earliest of rear-aspect missiles?
@@involuntarycommander8804 Maybe one of the early F-86s? Can't remember the exact designations off the top of my head, but I think those would be fun :)
I'm not sure what you mean. The P-38 might be an easily manoeuvred plane. But if you make one bad decision, you are very likely to die. Most planes outturn you. Many can catch up with you. And I would say War Thunder has a good competitive scene with some players sporting 200+ days in game time.
P-51D-30 will be out in a few days. It's actually and evening map! What a coincidence. I have played a bit with the F4U-4B and that would be an interesting next project. Such a stable plane compared to the P-51.
its the only prop I'm successful with in sim. i only have the u.s tree researched and the 20mills and speed make it deadly. i cant make the 50cals work in other u.s planes. u have to be a pretty good shot to be able to hose down an enemy.
Not a lot of videos with P 38s from cockpit view. What's your vertical zero set to? WT doesnt let you zero the gunsight so when I try to shoot without vertical targeting all the rounds are under the gunsight and it throws me off.
I use the default settings for the gunsight. In the p38 you have an excellent view over the nose of the plane so I usually just aim a little higher depending on how far away my target is.
Interesting! I've always seen it as a Yak-1b but slightly worse in most ways. They are ofc in different BRs and facing different enemies. Maybe the 7b version is even more competitive at its 2.7 BR than the 1b. Good suggestion, ty :)
The winning strategy for American fighters but only American but German as well were the shoot and scoot tactics and ambushing your opponents aka boom 💥 and zoom
A coincidence, sorry. I had already recorded the material by the time of your request. But I guess it made me finish up and release the video :) Every request matters to me. I know a lot of people have been asking for the P-51 so I'll probably do that in one of the upcoming.
Yeah, I should have throttled down a lot in hindsight. But I was thinking all the way down to 15% throttle. 80% still draws a lot of fuel. When you get engine damage or coolant leak, I have heard the best course of action is to WEP and climb. In my panic I went with this approach :)

Yeah, I prefer the L version of the p-38. It find it more nimble than the J version and it also helps to have an air brake if you mess up.
@mtbwithjure7809 Long form contenr coming soon!

I agree!
The p38 is "easy" to fly, as in good handling. But it requires a good understanding of the game to actually perform.
3:58 I view this the same, assistance is sometimes needed to complete a kill in simulator battles. And assists are still a lot of points.
My all time favorite plane! thanks for the video dude :)
No problem!

Well firstly, you played as the P-38 in War Thunder so you are like 3/4 of your way there.

To be honest, with general low- mediocre skill level of Sim players in WT, in any EC game with any BR I can do double or tripple ace per game.

You should have saved fuel, and climbed at 80% throttle, not burning it all inefficiently at 110%
