Absolutely loved this video, especially the first three or four minutes explaining the turnover and oxygen levels. Even though I'm just a shore guy fishing in small local lakes, I feel more confident heading out with all the great info you provided. Just this one video is all I needed to hit the subscribe button. Time to watch the ones you already have out there and wait for the new ones. Thanks a ton!
Buddy you really explained that well. Ive seen others try and explain the turnover and tried to sound smart and over explained things that doesnt matter to us fisherman. Cudos for keeping it simple
I'm going to give this a shot also on my local lake that's so hard and pressured to try and figure out the fish here. Hopefully this applies to most fisheries and maybe even this one here.
Thanks for the terrific explanation. I have been out the last 4 days on a lake/river and have had phenomenal success with numbers and size of lm bass. The surface temp was 53 to 55 and the lake has not yet turned over. We are now in a cold front with lows of 32 to 35 degrees and i was wondering what to expect and your video perfectly explains why I begin catching some numbers in the main river channel. Thanks, I just subscribed!
A lot of the areas I mentioned in the video will have baitfish. If you get into those areas you will see balls of bait on your graph. If you don’t have a graph, look for baitfish activity on the surface
Learned sooo much more from this than any catfish video! Thanks for the break down, makes sense why 3 weeks ago I stopped getting bites at all. I've found the bait fish no problem but where's the cats
Out of all the fall transition videos I watched this is the best and most informative one I’ve seen. Channels with 100’s of thousands of subscribers didn’t break it down this well.
Yea northern water and Florida water is set up a little differently than a lot of reservoirs, what is your best pattern in the northern country for Fall?
BassFishingHQ on some of the lakes when I’m targeting largemouth I find a lot of fish relating to shoreline cover (wood/rock) it tends to hold a little more heat with the water temps start to drop. Bait is always around them. So the bass can ambush really easily. And then the grass deal that you talked about it another great spot for bait and bass.
Hey quick fishing question for you. I’ve been watching your complete guides to bass fishing videos. I live in Florida and the water is super hot. Should I always expect the seasonal transitions to be late in fall and winter and then early in spring and summer because of the hot water? Love your videos btw, super informative.
Excellent and very helpful!! Thank you Sir!! We just found your channel.. appreciate the great advice!! IT WILL DEFINITELY BE HELPFUL FOR OUR CHANNEL THIS FALL!! ~FAB~
Great Video and lots of good info, however I dont think the thermocline is the area with the best oxygen. Thermocline is the area where the oxygen begins to deplete which means oxygen begins to lack, however, above the thermocline is where the best and most oxygen is at and it basically determines the deepest you can fish for bass during summer hot days. I might be scientifically wrong, but I had the best success using my theory.
I find bass while trout fishing but im about to start targeting bass alone cuz they are huge and fight hard! ive caught alot of small ones but my best are 2 bigs one at 3.2lbs 17inch and one 6.5lbs at 21.5 inch. And a smallie at 4lbs and i didnt measure cuz i wanted to get it back to the water
Great video! I have a question though, What bait to use in a gut and how do you fish those baits? Anything different with them ? Thanks for the content !
Really informative. Usually I would not fish the fall but this the first year I started to do so. It’s been experimental and a learning curve for me but fun. I’ve been seeing the bass as you describe in the video so locating them I think I got down but catching them is 50/50. What lures do you recommend? I’ve caught small bass my going ultra finesse and after almost irritating them I got them to react and bite. However, that does work with the bigger bass that small finesse is prob not work it for them so then I did try a crank bait and chatter bait but did not work. The crank bait did get a strike once but nothing after that.
Sometimes during that fall transition fish can be extremely tricky, which I imagine is the situation you have been fishing. As fall continues and the water starts to get colder reaction baits, like square bill crankbaits and lipless crankbaits can be a really good way to catch bass in those areas. Also a jig works really well
I would assume that its not just the bass that are dealing with the depleted oxygen and the other fish (although some fish could definitely be more tolerant of lower o2 levels) are doing the same thing and heading to higher o2 and warmer waters.
If your river has some of the same structure and cover elements like grass, then yes it will. However, most rivers are all about current. If you can find the right current eddies that have bait, then you will catch a lot of fish. Probably the best lure to use in that scenario is a square bill crankbait
Great video!! Super informative! I live in Massachusetts and the vast majority of our waters are not dammed up areas like Dale Hollow alot of our waters are natural lakes with small coves and what not. Other than this issue of not having arms that go waaaay back to trap bait how would you approach a natural lake other than the guts and cuts you described earlier. Would you pick smaller coves or does the size of the cove not matter. And what kind of topography wouldn't want to look for.
Where I live in California there's a local reservoir that I fish at that has a channel running into a cove. Iv been able to catch a lot of bluegill and crappy but can't seem to get a bite on bass. Iv used texas rigs, and swimbaits but know bites. I would say at it deepest spot is maybe 8 ft. Any advice would be much appreciated
I fish at two spring-fed “kettle” ponds here in the Boston area. There are no inlets or outlets-that is, no creeks or rivers to follow (even if I had a boat). Where do the baitfish go during the fall transition? I’ve seen no evidence of them for at least two weeks. Also, no bass. No hard structure that I can find. LOTS of grass, but nothing seems to entice bass if they are there. I’ve tried chatter bait, Carolina rig, drop shot, bobber rig. Those catching the recently stocked trout use Powerbait with slip weight and long lesser. They say the trout are deep but they aren’t biting for me. I’d be happy for any action at all. I fish from dawn to noon. Any tips?
That is definitely gonna put those bass into a little bit of shock. I feel like that is when the mat flipping bite can get good there..if you have mats on the body of water you are fishing
It would be amazing if you could throw one more big tip video about fall to winter transition you know a lot and it would really be helpful for your viewers to know
By far the best fall transition video I’ve seen. Found you by accident def subscribed!
Glad you found me! I appreciate that kind words!
You consistently do such an excellent job of explaining when and where to fish
I've hooked some nice bass in October.
A brilliant, educational video on the fall transition. Wish you had shown up on my UA-cam feed earlier.
What a thorough tape on Fall Bass fishing….my first but not last visit to your site! Many thanks

Thank goodness that this popped up as a suggested vid. This one is a keeper!
I'm very new to fishing. You're video breaks it down to very simple. Outstanding !! Especially including the type of bait
Thanks Wil! I appreciate it. I plan on doing more!
I just found this video while looking for fall patterns. Excellent explanation. Thanks. Now a subscriber.
Best video ever. I just dont know what time should i go finishing in late fall. i've tried in the morning at night both not a really good time
Really good stuff, always learning new things everyday
Same here, always trying to learn more!

Fantastic video. Thanks for the information and tips. Outstanding 😊
Thanks for watching!
as a new angler, this is amazingly detailed and very useful information. thank you. frequent viewer, infrequent commenter.
A video on how to locate bait fish would be a great video to add.

The gut!!! I call it the dinner table!!! Find the kitchen, then the dinner table, and you get a lot of bass
Really good video ! Up here in the north things happen a little different but still similar

Yup it’s on there under the complete guides section
Excellent video. Subscribed.
Thanks for subscribing Mike
Ever thought about doing Lake breakdowns? On lakes you don’t know??
Great video! I have a question though, What bait to use in a gut and how do you fish those baits? Anything different with them ? Thanks for the content !
Underspin or some kind of swim bait or crank bait
Cool video
Thanks Todd!
Tyler, in MN our lakes do not have creeks feeding the lake. Should we focus on bays, coves?
Really love these, but would like a summer guide, don’t see that here.
Thanks!

Hello how about white bass fall transition are they the same as others bass

Long leader.
Can you do bank fishing??
That is the plan, what kind of body’s of water do you bank fish the most? Ponds? Creeks?
BassFishingHQ ponds. Thanks for the response !
Bro I’m fishing California water and it’s drastically changed in weather 100degree weather to 40 degree weather i havnt has a bite since it got cold
That is definitely gonna put those bass into a little bit of shock. I feel like that is when the mat flipping bite can get good there..if you have mats on the body of water you are fishing
@@BassFishingHQ thanks you a lot for the tip
My last day off fall was October 30th no doubt
It would be amazing if you could throw one more big tip video about fall to winter transition you know a lot and it would really be helpful for your viewers to know
Does this info includes ponds?
Phiology if the pond your fishing includes some of the same structure and cover elements then yes
Do this go for bank fishing too
I will have to do that
Where can I find the map in your video?
webapp.navionics.com Lake Cumberland was the lake I was using for this example!
This guy sounds like the Chris Fix of fishing 😂
why is this dude making up his own terminology for nearly everything?
Sorry if you didn’t enjoy the video Dale
I loved it! I’m just curious how some your vernacular came to be? Your content is great and much appreciated
Probably cause I was thinking about bass fishing in school....
follow the bait... in trout bait lakes follow the trout...thats whats up!
Great info. Thanks
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
