Journey is NOT Journey without Steve, on the mike! Period.
Was Yes, Yes, when Trevor Horn sang at MSG 5 nights in a row, during the Drama Tour?
Was Yes, Yes, when they wrote their biggest #1 chart topping hit, without Steve Howe?
Was Yes, Yes, when they got together for the 'Union' tour, with two drummers, with two keyboard players
with two vocalists, and two lead guitarists?
These intriguing questions, and a band's journey to making $$$$$.
There was a journey before Steve was in the band
@@robertlee4172 Yes have a complicated history that's for sure
@@KOSMICKEN09
Yet they still tour till this day
Same as Journey.
The new lead singers, allowed the band to continue making money and music.
Without them, they fade into the 'has been' category.
Yes, but nobody could name a song from then!@@KOSMICKEN09
Greatest pop rock vocalist. Yes, it's a subjective opinion, but Steve Perry had the best combination of tone, control, range, power, etc. He sings the soundtrack of so many people's lives.
I'm going with Robin Zander but I'll put Steve high up there
It’s Steve no comparison. Look at their top 15 he’s on all of em
What I love about Steve Perry is what a good person he is for taking care of the woman he loved. Great human being.
The best Journey lineup was with Steve and Gregg sharing vocal duties. Great to see Steve in a heart to heart interview.
I agree. That was the bands best lineup.
Steve Perry's voice takes People to a time and place, amazing and thats it!
Good to see him doing well
Steve has to e up there as one of the greatest rock vocalist of all time.
For me, Steve Perry is such a summary of my teenage years. I love his voice and I treasure the memories I associate with his songs as a member of Journey and his solo career. What a voice!!! and what a treasure. Thank you, Steve for the memories!!!!
Best voice ever… along maybe w Freddy Mercury. Love how humble, well spoke and gentle he seems.
one of the best singers ever..PERIOD!
He's brilliant and such a nice gentleman. Could say all kinds of things about his and his talent but one word sum him up perfectly = Icon.
Loved seeing Journey live with Steve Perry as lead singer. Journey is interwoven into my middle and Highschool memories
Me too.
Musicians can be so jealous and they were so jealous of Steve Perry. Ego destroys a lot of great things. I wish Steve all my BEST because he has the most amazing voice.
One of the greatest rock vocalist ever!!!!!!
I have always loved Steve’s voice and the feelings he brought to his music,After watching a few interviews I am amazed at how much I was right about him as a man, person and singer,He is honest about his life IMO he’s humble about how he has been loved, admired and appreciated and I love how protective he’s about his daughter and grandkids,Over the years he said he had relationships but the one who really touched his heart was Kelly Nash I always thought how lonely he must’ve been at times especially after she passed away I was happy he had his daughter and he wouldn’t be alone,He came back to music with a different passion and I love that he brought more music to us,The most amazing voice that can’t be matched by anyone and we have had some great voices but none compare to the Voice Steve Perry ❤
Something happened as a group when Steve joined Journey. All the songs were so magical and ALL the miscicians were excellent and the sounds/songs were just so perfectly executed and balanced. Their concerts were just amazing musical and physical feats. Truly they were just incredible as that special group. i was a senior in Highschool in 1981 and i never got to see Journey live, but i had all their records on vinyl. I have watched several of their concert from the time here on you tube from 1981 in Houston and in Chicago Soldier Field and in Japan. The recordings are so good it is alnost like being on stage ... i love it ... sure takes me back! A person really feels like you are truly right there and it 8s happening in real time when i watch on my my big flat screen! 😊😊😊😊
Legend👍🏻🎼💥
The legend!🙏🙏
Thanks for all the memories, Steve. It’s been a journey.
There's only 1 Steve Perry ❤ his vocal range was and is amazing 👏, love listening to him talking, comes across as just a lovely man 😍
One thee very best singers to ever exist.
Journey is Steve Perry there is no singer who has replaced him has come close to emulating the wonderful vocals of Steve Perry , simply the greatest 😊
I'll give you that.
But they probably sell out more venues, in more countries now, than they ever did in their heyday.
I think their new singer does a good job. He will never replace Steve Perry in our hearts though.
Forget about the vocalist's who tried to replace Steve Perry. What about the man behind the drum kit for the past 20 some years in Journey, "Deen Castronovo." No disrespect to any of the singers who've been in Journey post Perry days. But if you've never heard Deen sing & play drums at the same time live in concert, check em' out, seriously? Deen's the real deal & a monster vocalist/drummer. Just saying... ✌️😜
And of course no one will ever be Steve Perry, but as great as Steve's voice is or was at least. Why would you wanna sound exactly like Perry anyway really? Be yourself that's what it's all about my friends. "Originality" is what separates the good from the greats who leave their mark in music history, no doubt. Think about it, singers who try to duplicate or happen to sound close to one of the greatest singers in music before them. Will always be known just as that, the guy or girl who sounded just like this or that vocalist's instead of being one of the greats in music themselves. It is what it is, facts & real talk. 🤘😎🤘 ☮️
@@216Numbskull Agreed!
The greatest vocalist ever! 🫶🏽
What a catalog of hits definitely one of the best bands ever. Steve Perry is a class act, great vocalist. I'm glad he walked away now it is time to enjoy his life the way he wants it. Wish him the best.
What a wonderful human being.
I bought the tee shirt and saw them on tour. Billy Squire opened.
I loved the part about how they practiced in Oakland. It puts into perspective, the lyrics in 'Lights',
"I wanna get back to my city by the bay".
Lights was written originally about LA though, the bay replaced it since it was closer to their home.
@@azvascos7542
I did not know this. So, I had to look it up.
Squier - everyone spells his name wrong 😂
@@KOSMICKEN09
Oh? Oh.
I'm sorry, I didn't see your hall monitor badge. You still wearing that thing after all these years? I'll bet you were the type to tattle on the other kids in school.
And "no", there's no such thing as a spellchecker position for you on YT comments.
I really admire Steve. So honest and down to earth. He is definitely an artist. I never knew he grew up in California like me.
the best vocalist in the history of the music industry / thanks .
There was something in the air at the time that the power ballads appeared. Journey, Chicago and the Doobie Brothers are the big three that comes to mind that transformed themselves into something other than their original sound.
❤ I love Steve Perry music 🎶 he is a amazing man ❤ please keep up with your music 🎶 😊sweetheart ❤❤
One of the best singers of all time
My absolute favorite singer of all time after John Lennon.💗🙏 God blessed Steve Perry with a beautiful voice! I will never get tired of his voice 😊
Love this!!!
I believe, Steve Perry once mentioned that his Grandfather told him that, "NOW, He Had Made It," since he was being interviewed by DAN RATHER. Wow, what a Statement! Factually, Dan Rather has interviewed some very "Distinguished People." 😉 🎤 👏🏻👏🏻
Truthfully speaking, Steve Perry is a very Humble man. He is particulary known, for NOT wanting to 'Accept All The Credit.' While with Journey, as their Frontman, he repeatedly spoke about the "Group Effort," being the reason for the Band's success.
Just a Thought: "Would the Rock Band, "JOURNEY," still be in existence today, had it not been for the "Stellar Voice" and "Musical Expertise," of Steve Perry?"
(Just my Opinion.) 🤔 🫤 🙄 😐🎙🎶
His grandfather died in 1988. What Steve Perry said is that he wish his grandfather was around to witness that interview because then he'd say such a thing... but his grandfather told him no such line.
The 80s was the most creative decade in popular culture. Steve Perry and Neil Schoon were the leaders with Journey. It’s a pity we cannot see one more reunion from these living legends.
One of The Best vocalist ever, IF NOT THE BEST!
Greatest singer ever.
GREAT JOB ALL...THANX 4 MAKING Tee with LIONS NAMED LEO the music worldwide.
LOVE YOU ALL...!!!....MUCH LOVE.!!
besides being in the Rock&Roll HOF, being invited to sing a line in We Are The World is an indictment in itself that not only he is an amazing vocalist but also how popular he is as a singer in a band.
Steve should definitely go on Rick Beato's show.
🤩
❤
🙏🙏🙏
The first few Journey albums were the best.
I definitely agree, even before he joined I didn't like journey. He was so great, his voice was fantastic. I was so upset when he left. He took too long to come out in public again. Still love you Steve❤.
I wish he would come back!❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉
I always considered Beth to be the original power ballad. Like Steve says here, Journey didn't create the power ballad, but they did play a huge part.
It was kinda interesting to watch this interview video of two guys. They look like me and my boyfriend. Also it's kinda weird too to see that way.
This guy could make a fortune touring. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Probably doesn’t need the money.
He's also 74 does he really have the desire to -
Plus Steve would rather leave his legacy in music in place with dignity. Instead of jeopardizing his own integrity by possibly losing it on the big stage in exchange for the greed of money. To be an iconic figure like Steve in music, is much more valuable in worth than a bag full of money for sure. Priorities people, "integrity & dignity" are 2 of the only things you leave with in this world, cuz you can't take the money with you. ✌️😉 Keep On Keeping On!
This interview happened in 2013.
why did they make the lips un-naturally red in this video...?
I blame Herbie Herbert for Steve's vocal problems now all that constant touring will rip a voice to shreds Touring most of the year vocals like Steve's need a rest after 3 shows because it will take it's toll- The voice is not like playing guitar once the voice becomes a problem that problem can last for weeks and months
And the funny thing is, Journey never had a #1 song. They went to #2 several times, but never got a #1 record.
I thought Joe Perry played with Arrow something. He sang in Journey? Well...
?????
???? This is Steve Perry . Joe Perry plays guitar for Aerosmith.
You guys really dont get sarcasm do you?@@TWayneD1020
Lol, I doubt you wouldn't know the difference between Joe Perry or Aerosmith and Steve Perry of Journey and be watching this! Do you know who Dan Rather is?
@@azvascos7542 sssshh..ok...ssshh
does dan rather even know who steve perry is???so strange that a old guy like dan, even though i know hes been there long time, how much better it would have been to have a younger person to do this interview to actually give a shit what steve was saying?
I love you honey
who did Steve marry? He's got ring on.
❤😊hey babe, i love u
FAKE JOURNEY...one more concert with the 80s MEMBERS!
Dan Rather was never a journey fan...lmao 😂
He's not Journey anymore. He was the root but things change along the way and the grafted part carried the name of the dying band until now and you know who's that.
I've seen this interview which was a good one however I am concerned about Steve and the dark occult t shirts he is wearing lately hope you haven't sold your soul Steve it's not worth it
Are you in the Hell Fire Club?
