i remember that cartoon & the nose of the God Phoenix retracted to release to race car, and two of the other vehicles were carried in the pods at the wingtips (if memory serves me correctly, and Ace's jet linked up with the God Phoenix in the back to become the third tailfin. i definitely remember that when the pilot shoved the throttles into 'Overdrive' & the flames turned blue, it was about to get real!
At that scale, I felt the link-up vehicles were decently detailed BUT the motorcycle should have had a Jun/G-3 figure on it. It was definitely missing that. I know the character would NOT look fantastic at that scale but the bike isn't complete without her... I'm still amazed by how well the original Gatchaman was designed. It holds up after nearly 50 years! I urge EVERYONE to take another look at that series soon. It has endured and the bulk of the original series is STILL excellent. I think it's wonderful the entirety of it is available in North America but I urge people to check out the original series in particular. It's still far superior to the sequels and Gatchaman Crowds. At the very least check out the Gatchaman 1970s feature film. That has the best episodes in it and has a nice dub for it, too. It's in pristine condition and showcases the major storylines and subplots within a 2-hour timeframe. That's something to consider for a 105-episode run series that averages about 24-25 min per episode!
If I was able to manufacture this, I'd make it almost 2 feet long and add more detail and make many copies and sell it so many people could afford it and make a bunch of people happy.
It's official, folks. The Japanese to companies design better and more utilitarian toys than the US market does now! That's a shame considering how good the Star Wars and GI Joe playsets were in the 1970s and 1980s. Japan hasn't forgotten that you have to make the customer happy if you want to make money and stay in business! Sure, Japanese companies occasionally screw up like any business does but they still have a better reputation and more consistency with their product... At least that's my perception.
This model is the one I desperately wanted 40 years ago but didn't exist at the time, and even the few Gatchaman toys that did exist were pitiful by comparison compared to this one.
The original God Phoenix is definitely the best design of this vehicle. I noticed the live-action Gatchaman had a GP design closer to the mid-1990s Gatchaman OVA. I still think the mecha designs for the Gatchaman team were better in the 1972-1974 series. Those designs are always the ones Tatsunoko reverts to when they do homages and parodies to the original Gatchaman in their different animated projects. Both of the Nurse Witch Komugi series (but especially the first series) have humorous Gatchaman cameos. The Suicide Phoenix scene from the original Nurse Witch Komugi is still hilarious over 10 years later but it's also an excellent example of faithful homaging. They did a fantastic job of recreating the vehicle docking sequence from the original Gatchaman series.
This does look just as good as the uni five. I do prefer the fire Phoenix mould on this toy though. I had reservations about this toy being from evolution toys but seeing this detailed video I purchased one last night so hopefully will be here in a few weeks.
**UPDATE** It arrived today and I honestly think it’s awesome. It does have flaws like the missiles lacking paint, the side seam not straight and the underbelly vents not open and closing perfectly however, the overall product is great. The colour is perfect unlike the unifive and from what I’ve seen and heard this evolution toys version is no so fragile. I cannot see how anyone would be disappointed with it and the fire Phoenix mould is just great. If you’ve always wanted one then you’d be foolish not to grab hold of it.

@@pokopokoMyTube except, center tail too small (the scale was always off compared to the size of G1) and the intakes are too sharply angled at the bottoms; they should be flatter. Otherwise it surpasses all of them, including the venerable Unifive Godphoenix.

The scale is way off for the vehicles.... The vehicles should be half that size..... Look at the bubble door on top.... All 5 teens are suppose to fit in there.... The scale is off for the vehicles
So, it's the same Unifive mold, with a few upgrades. As before, it gets some aspects of the ship right, and others horribly wrong. Mine is on order and should be arriving soon. Side note - shame on the guy manhandling the ship in this video! I found myself cringing at how horribly you handled this model and came damn close to breaking it on more than one occasion.
@@Bishop545454 right? I have the original Unifive version and the smaller vehicles each have their numbers painted on. The older version compartment for G-4 closes better than this newer version. But the addition of the underbelly missiles and opening and closing underside vents and tighter nose fit on this new one is cool. And the addition of red impulse fighter.
It's not the same mold actually. You can tell by comparing the separation lines along the side. It's an all new sculpt. But, yeah, the mini vehicles don't seem as good as the unifive. When I get mine I'd like to see if you can mix and match. (here's a pic of the side of my unifive toy so you can see the difference in the lines - goo.gl/LKARNj )
@@Tedterranova you're right; upon receiving my Metal Action Godphoenix, you can absolutely tell it's a similar, but not the same, mold. I've compared side by side with my Unifive Godphoenix and aside from the mini-vehicles being poorly-done and the hilariously mis-sized vertical stabilizer making up the combined vehicle (the central of the three) it's probably the best I've seen yet. I'd just make one final tweak other than replacing that tail, and that's not angling the intakes as sharply as this model is. Other than that, it's an excellent representation of what you see on the screen.

pokopoko様。今回も楽しく拝見させていただきました。精度のいい特撮・アニメの懐モノTOYを出されてる「EVOLUTION TOY」のゴッドフェニックス。 か～な～り良い出来ですね。見栄えも良いし鑑賞にもってこい。やはり後続の「ニューゴッドフェニックス」や「ガッチャスパルタン」よりシンプルで未来的なデザインの「ゴッドフェニックス」は個人的に好きです。 アニメ劇中同様のギミック再現で遊べるというのも魅力的。G1号～G4号まで「ちゃんと」G5号に収納できちゃうのが驚き！！（今まで無理だと思ってか、誰もやらなかっただけに衝撃的）まあ収容アームは伸びないけれど、これだけ再現出来たら十分満足ですね。バードミサイル発射スタンバイ・ギミックも下方にもあるとは知りませんでした。他にも細かい仕様(フィン・ファンの稼働、ランディングギア、科学忍法「火の鳥」イメージのクリアーラバーカバー付き)が嬉しいところ。

That's nice but 1 foot would be more than enough. At 2 feet the length of the wings would make it hard to display.

素晴らしい！まさに完全合体！完全変形ですね。G1号からG4号の収納方式までパーフェクト。全機が収納されてG5号の主翼が水平になってゴッドフェニックスになるんですよね。もう完璧です。（G1号って一番大きかったんだ・・・知らなかった）科学忍法火の鳥の表現がまた素敵。まさかジェル状のカバーを被せるんなんて発想が凄いですね。
昔ポピニカのG1号だけ買って貰った記憶があります。コクピットが開いて主翼が動くギミックがあった。・・・・と思う(笑)
