Xbox bought Mixer, signed Ninja to a huge contract and then shut it all down a month later when it didn’t meet expectations. If gamepass were unsustainable, it wouldn’t exist.

How can you blame Sony in this situation where these games are competing against each other? Square Enix signed the contract themselves. 😅 I want to play everything so I’m not siding with anyone.
Neither Gamepass nor money hatting is sustainable, but neither is putting games on the Xbox in general, which has put game publishers in a tough spot. Do you waste resources on Xbox ports, or do you take guaranteed Sony money? Lets be real here. The real problem is how badly MS has mismanaged the Xbox platform which is pushing publishers into accepting these Sony deals out of need. The bleaker reality is that as SE and others, such as Atlus try to become more platform agnostic and support the Xbox more, the ever present threat that is sword of damocles that is low Xbox software attach rates is ever hanging above them and threatens to undo this strategy. What happens if SE releases FF16 on Xbox and it sales so badly that they cannot even recoup porting cost? What happens when Metaphor in two weeks illuminates the weaknesses in the Xbox and its consumerbase and these devs realize Xbox support isn't a worthwhile investment? We are going to go straight back to them favoring PS at the expense of Xbox. In fact I think we may already be seeing those cracks. It's really interesting that after a year and a half of Xbox marketing being slapped on Metaphor and as recently as the Xbox showcase, it now suddenly has PS marketing and will be part of the Sony presence at TGS this week. Hmmm.

EA and Ubisoft has a subscription and no one has ever seemed their strategy unsustainable. That doesn’t fly. You’d have to show me the data that Microsoft is eating losses on Gamepass. Do you remember when Microsoft shutdown Mixer within months? Gamepass is pushing 7 years. Let’s try and make coherent claims.
Microsoft admitted it loses profit for a year for every day one release on gamepass. Kotaku has an article about it. They even said Phil Spencer was lying about gamepass making a profit for day one releases. They even went on to say Playstation was right about not using this model.😂 don't worry, I don't take this as fact. I'm just cherry picking articles to fit the narrative I'm trying to convey. No they said that gamepass does lower game sales. But that doesn't mean it ends up being a loss in overall profit.. they budget around billion a year for gamepass content and it generates more then that
