They stopped because white doesnt have any chance of winning anymore. If white blocks with either the queen or the rook, black just takes it and is up at least a full rook; if white moves the king, black will take the hanging white rook on e5 with their pawn and will again be up a rook. At this level of play, you cannot win with just a queen against a queen and a rook. Hope this helps

That wasn't trash talk! That was friendly banter!
Tani just taught me something when he said at 4:44 “I wanna beat you by sacking a piece” before the 2nd game started. The level that he’s on is DIFFERENT…!!! He’s really good because Boetz is no joke too and he mated her in the middle of the board while talking trash to her… WOW
He doesn't trash talks. It's his confidence speaking. Look at the final checkmate for example. That was a classic one. It took me a while to figure that. Tricking opponents in a bad position is a sign of class players. You can't say I had a winning position against Magnus but then accidentally blundered. He will make you blunder no matter what. Not making blunder is the most difficult part.
I must be a below average chess player, because I still don't understand the 1st checkmate. Can't white king go f2?

I'm still having trouble how the first win was a checkmate.
it wasn't but after that check she would've lost her rook and possibly her queen and when you're down that significant amount of material against strong player like Tani you can never recover! so it was best to just resign
@@ashley5130 But the King could have moved to F2 and then G3 if required...so I cant figure out how the rook or queen needed to be sacrificed?

They stopped because white doesnt have any chance of winning anymore. If white blocks with either the queen or the rook, black just takes it and is up at least a full rook; if white moves the king, black will take the hanging white rook on e5 with their pawn and will again be up a rook. At this level of play, you cannot win with just a queen against a queen and a rook. Hope this helps
