Although this is very impressive, and I couldn’t do this. I can’t help but think about the process they used to do back in the medieval times before power tools. Blows my mind.

Excellent work i love how creative you are and innovative. I a master union sheet metal worker unfortunately retired. And a knife maker. And a rookey black smith. I applaud you for your adaapt improvise and over come on not having for example the ability to drill the hole on the end of the handle. To save yourself hours of filing i can recomend to you three ways that can save you time and effort. 1 a unibit drill slow lots of coolant if you have one there pricey but will fit in your chuck. 2 cheepest option scribe your hole and take an 8th inch bit and drill inside your outer scribe line so the outer diameter is just shy of your scribed circle, take a compass and bisect your circle so you end up with roughly 20 8th inch drill holes around the inner circumference so there's less than a 32nd between holes and you can than knock your circle out than it will require 90prcent less filing and dremil work. Thick material you do same but do anouther circle and drill with a larger bit around circumfrence with the end of your drills circumfrence connecting the 8th inch holes. Ive done it many many times. It takes patience and you clearly have it plus talent. Just be carefull some lower end drill press have a woble to them im not sure what you have. And 3 i had this done for my drill press i spent 10 dollars and had all my old large bits like 1inch 3/4 excedera all milled down to fit a smaller chuck if you have the ability to do so. Great work i got sime great space saving ideas from this video for my shop keep up the good work

Thank's a lot four your commend! I am glad you like my work and thank you for the feedback and suggestions!
I'ts true, I spend a huge amount of time with filing. The possibility which I have considered are stepdrills but they are around 100$ in my area...The Idea with the holes around the circumference is good :) I'll try that next time.
Thanky again and have a good day!

RvD Knives ya its helped me out huge myself in a bind. Im only 34 and was a foreman at a union multimillion dollar sheet metal shop where i had the abilities to do what ever i needed. And now not having that ive been humbled and had to adapt improvise and overcome. The step drills also known as unibits if you have a home depo near you there about 40 us dollers. I do not know where you are located. I have personally spent up to 200 on a step drill uni bit when i had the funding for job requirements. But now out of the trade working for myself i have limited construction tools. My knife making is ground to a stop due to a broken down belt sander. Im really interested in that filing jig you have set up. Ive seen another maker TELY use one and im definitely going to make one. I have a freind who works for lennex tools formally known as american saw who occasionally gives me step drills if i get an extra one i can definitely send you one. Im from chicopee massachusetts. So ill let you know when i do and ill send to you. Working with s.s is definitely brutal on your tools i run slow speeds and lots of coolant tapping fluid or whatever else i can find. Once i buy a go pro im definitely looking into getting a channel up. But my hobby at the moment has to take a back seat to my everyday life finacialy speaking. I love how your shop is set up perfectly to do what you need it to do. I stole that grinder wood base i saw in your video today and mounted my bench grinder to a 2x6 and a 1x2 to fit in my bench vise it worked great so thank you for that. I know i will learn alot from you by watching your stuff so thank you and keep it up. Also do you have a website where you sell your products. Well thank you again i look forward to hopefully being able to learn from you as i grow in the feild. Thanks again and good night

      Thanks a lot :)
I live in Europe, Switzerland. I have a youple of Homedeopds nearby. I think sooner or later I'll have to buy a stepdrill since i really like those large holes in the handle.
The filing jig is from "Gough Custom "'s channel. H has a video about how to build it. You should check it out if you want to build one.
Nice to hear, that the trick with the vice helped you out. My workshop is so small (3x3 yards) that i had to invent all kinds of improvisations. SO since I hav no space to mount the grinder fixed to the workbench, I started to clamp it in the vice. It definitely saves space^^
      Have a great week
