Fitting the PiStorm32 was a bit of pain for me too but eventually squeezed it and it's a fantastic bit of kit. I wouldn't go back to just my CF card HDD and 68030. However, I did have trouble with hard drive errors and lock ups when I used the SD card extension cable. Now, I just have the SD card directly in the PI and it all seems a lot happier.
You are a lucky Ponder. I put a PiStorm 600 in my Amiga 600 (obviously) & it’s great but honestly I do pretty much all my gaming now on my A500 Mini because it’s just so much more convenient. I have some old Mac’s in working order & really should play with making one a PowerPC “Amiga” when I have the time? Interesting video, thanks.
I've since noticed that but with Musashi you can choose to use a 68EC020 (though I only found out last night that 68020 is recommended). All CPU types run at the same speed because it's emulating the CPU.
nice video, but can I ask. I got an A1200 and was thinking of doing this but I didnt like to be switching from the hdmi fromt the pistorm and the A1200 itself? Do you know if someone has figured this out yet?
You only use the HDMI from the PiStorm if you use RTG but there are external switchers available. I use an RGB > SCART cable to a SCART > HDMI upscaler and have both outputs going in to an HDMI switcher. If you have a TV with SCART and HDMI you could use this method of course.
This is very true and I did check this before installing... I compared the keying with the card I removed to ensure I got it the right way around first time.
@@PondersRetroGoodness I would like a demonstration of how PiStorm32 would work with the Original Amiga OS. I think this would be a better test of compatibility as Caffiene OS is a later development.
original? mean yes it will boot your amiga OS what ever you have installed if you hold mouse buttons when amiga boot you can choose where to boot. you select if you boot from your drive inside amiga should be default. there you would also see your pistorm harddrives too if you formatted them correct(faster transfer) and you not need HDD inside amiga even. you can even clone your original after you formatted pistorm drives @@AllensTrains
Just came across this and thought I recognise that packaging lol. Glad it’s serving you well!

Yup, I'm aware of the potential issues with the extender but thankfully none so far 🙂
That's quite a beauty! Congrats

I usually use the MiSTer but for me there's nothing like the real thing 😄
Good toy, i have one but at the moment many old games and demos has a lot of issues.

Ottima scheda,le prestazioni sono decollate, molto, molto veloce!
Sì. Ha problemi di compatibilità ma ne vale comunque la pena.
The trapdoor expansion can only go one way, it's keyed to stop you putting it the wrong way in?.

Does the PiStorm 32 work with the original Amiga OS supplied with the machine, or does it have to have new ROMs to use the PI Storm?
You can use almost any ROM. I have configs set for CaffieneOS, Kick 3.1 and Kick 3.22.
