Hey there Driver. So glad you were able to take some time to drop by to check out today's video. What are your thoughts on this rule? Will it affect you? Love to hear what you're thinking.

What makes you think Trump would reverse this? Is it just an assumption based on you not liking him, or has Trump opposed similar legislation in the past? From what I have see, Trump has always looked after the little guys; from truth in billing for medical, to rescuing all the American hostages that previous presidents have let rot, to rebuilding steel mills, etc., etc.

If you’re under the carriers insurance and can’t take the truck to another carrier you are basically a company driver without the benefits of being one…..

I don't see this as a big deal, do some paperwork and get your authority, turn your leaser into a brokerage, keep on working

Lets face it. If the truck title isn't in your name, you ARE NOT an owner operator or a contractor. YOU ARE AN EMPLOYEE,,,, PERIOD. Back in the day we didn't have any of this silly nonsense. If you had a problem with a carrier, you canceled your lease and took your truck and went home. Before I got my operating authority, I was leased to Ace Doran back when Dan Doran owned it. They more or less left me alone, and I had most of my own customers, They just got their 24% cut. Dan Doran was great, but now Ace is under new ownership and I'm not sure what they are like now.

This might hurt the Chicago 1099 companies but all it’s really about is getting taxes out of everyone. No driver benefits from this

Lease operators in the end make driver pay, the only advantage to it is, forced dispatched, as a lease operators you can turn down bad loads, it is the only advantage.

CR England tries to get you on a lease to own program.
2 year old non maintained truck, 8 year lease. but you can not operate a ten year old truck for cr england! so as soon as its yours you have to lease another

Drivers should just ask for a salary now based on how much crap is asked of them to do now.

It’s going to mean less money for truck drivers who have been making it work by leasing. It means having a boss to tell you when you can take off, where you can park your truck, etc. Sure, you can get insurance and benefits but it’s going to come at a cost to the driver as well. Why not just let people choose what they want to do?

This is horribly unfair to guys like me who have stuck it out and survived to be near to having our truck paid off. Now we're going to be screwed on all that money we have invested in ownership. That was the whole point. If I had the credit and down payment I'd have bought directly from the dealership. This strips us from the opportunity to become owner operators and makes us be treated like prisoners on a work release program. Which is why I wanted my own truck in the first place. I can take adequate time off when I need to be home from my family instead of 34 hours which is useless. Because you don't really rest or enjoy your family. Cameras staring me in the face for 11 hours and watching me when I'm not in the seat. Which is a invasion of privacy. Because the company is literally controlling how you live. No other professionals have to deal with that. Being micromanaged is making me despise trucking.

All you leased on owner operators, should be ashamed of yourselves, get your own authority and run your own business, make real money i know a lot of guys are leaving 30 to 50 percent of their pay on the table

After watching the ATA for 50 years, if they are against it, it is just my natural instinct to be for it ! :-)
But then, if Joe-tato is for it, it's my natural instinct to be against it ! :-)
Seriously though, every individual's situation is different. Some carriers are good to lease with, some are not. Mosrly, the lawyers will be the winners. :-(

IF YOU ARE TAKING ON THE EXPENSES OF OPERATING THE EQUIPMENT, INSURANCE, LICENSE, FUEL, MAINTENANCE, REPAIRS, TAXES, TOLLS EXT. THAN ARE YOU NOT A BUSINESS OWNER. WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE IF YOU ARE OPERATING ON YOR OWN AUTHORITY OR RUNNING ON ANOTHER CARRIER.

This is not a win for Xiden or their admin. This law has been cooking long before he took office. It just now got passed through, and not because of the democrats.
However, I am living proof that this policy needs to be changed. I was nearly killed 2 years ago after a car crushed me while unloading. My employer kept me as 1099 and tried their hardest to avoid workers comp. I filed a suit and won in court, and have been steadily working myself back to walking status while the company paid all my bills. This 1099 crap should have never been a thing to begin with. Its a crime to treat employees as independent contractors.
