I love Christmas and the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. It is very commercialized here in the US, but I must admit I love all the decorations, and I am pretty traditional with red, silver, and gold. The tree and other greenery is about the only place I use the color green.

First, I want to say that you look AMAZING and your happiness and energy is so infectious! Thank you! Thank you! For all the positive and encouraging messages that have motivated me to get out and get moving! Starting in September I did just that. Unbelievably, I dropped 24 lbs and I am stronger today than I was 10 years ago. Now I am only 7 lbs away from my goal weight and have exceeded my expectations for fitness! I have wanted to tell you for some time now how very much your journey has helped me begin my own so a huge THANK YOU!! Not only have you impacted my life by introducing me to Junk Journaling but now I am much healthier and happier thanks to you! 😄 Like you, I am overcome with emotion and gratitude that I can move and do more than I ever realized was possible. I set my phone alarm to annoy me every half hour. As I am in Australia, I need to keep drinking a lot of water, so I get up from my bed/ sewing machine/studio table, and have a drink, and do a few minutes targeted, easy exercise. I no longer need my walking frame, can drive myself to shops , appointments,etc. I am 72, and recently my kids wanted me to go into an aged care home, so, no more of that! I am healthy, losing weight, and have far less pain and fatigue. Weight loss, exercise, and meditation are my essentials. And art,of course! No need for gym, push-ups, chin ups! Gentle exercise, little and often, is the key. Now I have so much more energy! So, young or old, all these things make for a healthy, happy life. I recommend it highly.
Thank you Barbara for your sharing - touched my heart. I'm an older woman, 74. So many times I feel like quitting, juar roll up in my covers and sleep the day away. I finally get some energy and invariably hurt myself and am laid up for a while - repeat. Because of you I will try again. Must walk, walk more. Thank you Blessings

I enjoy Christmas and finding vintage Christmas decorations, images, ornaments, etc. I don't have children so never did the Christmas morning bit with little ones. I am spiritual but not Christian but I do believe in the magic of Christmas. I have to say though - I love love love that Dephemerember is not a holiday event. It is a great relief to have something not red and green 🙂

I cried with you, dear Barbara.😭 As an elder woman of 73, I know how easily we can lose our strength and mobility, and then become dependent on others. I have never gone to that point, but earlier this year an injury layed me up, for a couple of weeks, and I had a taste of what it would be like to not be active and healthy.😰 it was frightening and depressing, to say the least. Our health is our gold. It is everything, and I am so glad to hear you promoting that women stay active and exercise regularly! A great message! 💪YES, i know of that fruit, and we call it cheramoya. 😋 yum! And of course your art is beautiful, as always and I love how you put your personal life out there for us to take a peek at! I move better than most people my age, but have neglected exercising due to all the work outside & all the work I needed to catch up on inside. So thank you for this wake up call!

Your Crows of Winter really speaks to the darkness I feel as an American right now....how dark the world feels. I feel lost and hurting deeply. I needed a winter design that helped me be ok with what I feel...and also letting a little light inside.... (Jelly Roll has a song that says "Save Room for a Little Light"). I am Pagan by spiritual practice and love Shamanic winter nature focused journaling. 😢 Your words are so true, I have realized with my chronic sickness it is very important to walk. I battled in the beginning with many tears, today I'm so grateful I persevered.
The natural endorphins we get from exercise are real. They uplift, give energy, and make us feel like we can conquer the world. Love your photos from Egypt and how happy they make you! Your video really touched me, as i sit here in tears. Ive always said, "if you do not have your healh, you have nothing." I was healthy as a horse until life and trauma happened. Now i fight every day just to get out of bed. I have several autoimmune disorders and muscular skeletal issues, and chronic pain. I will be 59 next month and for the first time in my life I feel time is running out. Im a mental health therapist- for many years I've spent my days helping others with their problems. I want to do a journal like yours but feel like I dont even have the strength to get it started!? All I do is work and sleep.😢 Thanks for sharing.
Aww, don’t feel bad about getting emotional 🖤🖤 I’ve been trying to be better about getting exercise since I don’t live in the city anymore (so much less walking 😣) and although my mom would tell me I don’t need to worry about working out bc of my body, it absolutely 110% is a must for my mental health 😅 I didn’t think about the joint health, so that is good to know 🙃🖤

Lovely kit Barbara and well done on your fitness journey! In my daily life, I am a home care worker (so a lot of lifting, walking stairs and moving in general), I go to work on my bike, ànd I'm a mom of a teenage son, so my days are full and long, so I really just can't do fitness. No time, no desire. Actually I hate gyms, haha! When I was younger, I was a swimmer and gymnast on an above average level and I know how important exercising is, and whenever we can in the weekends, we (partner, son and me) go hiking, play tennis or badminton or go swimming in summer. Beside that I'm a yogi, and practice it almost every day. So... fitness is great, but there are other ways to stay strong and healthy. I'm your age and I feel great, healthy (I can't remember the last time I was sick or had a cold or whatever) and very happy. I think it's the realisation that's important, to get up and go dó something. Do whatever suits your lifestyle, your budget (gyms are NOT cheap!) and your body. Do something you actually like to do. Then you will be able to keep it up as well. At least that's how I see it.

OMG! That is my favorite fruit when I was young growing up in the Philippines. In Tagalog we called it Atis, so delicious! It’s been a long, long time since I’ve had one. I get you Barbara and I cried with you! Thank you for always being you! ❤❤❤
I am totally united with you on being fit. It has added so much to my mental well-being in addition to my physical strength. I had custard apple in Brazil. It is called Fruita de Conde and so so good. I couldn't get enough of it during our short vacation. I love that people are more outwardly happy at Christmas. Meg
You are quite correct in your health journey because earlier this year I found out I have type 2 diabetes so I had to loose weight, so I started eating properly and exercising neither of which I had done before, now 9 months later I have lost the weight and am fitter than I’ve been for years and feeling happier and more confident and am no longer diabetic, thank you for reminding me that health matters.
Barbara! I love your planner videos the most, I think. I absolutely love your winter crow papers. I do like traditional sort of Christmas designs and colors too, in small doses, but I think you and I have the same taste. 🖤🐦⬛ I really appreciate you sharing the personal parts of your life, and I am very happy for your experience with feeliy stronger and more powerful - amazing! I also think language is very important and the words we choose can harm others so I am very gently suggesting that saying if you dont have your health, you have nothing can do harm to those who (like myself) experience chronic illness, or various disabilities. I feel disabled and chronically ill folks have a lot to give and teach us. Eventually, we shall all be old and decrepit (hopefully!), and most of us will experience some sort of disability.So keep it up! I love Christmas 🎄! I love the lights, the music, the joy it all brings. I try to keep it easy, but memory-filled for grown children and all the grandkids. Thank you for sharing the heartfelt words on taking care of yourself. I am dealing with weakness in my upper arms. I am supposed to do daily exercises with bands and weights, but my motivation is low. Seeing you do the pull-ups and push-ups was inspiring. It is fearful to lose mobility in the body. Hi Barbara, you asked how to add videos to a journal. You could do this by adding QR codes. They are not literally in your journal, but link to Instagram, for example. Love your UA-cam Chanel.
Hi Barbara- you asked about putting videos with sound in your journal. This is something I want to do with my videos of my daughter and looked it up a few years ago- i forget if its a UA-cam video or google step by step, but you can create your video, create a QR code that goes to where that video is posted and then print out the QR code and put it in your journal. Use your phone camera to view your video whenever you look through you journal. :-) I dont have the specific source onhand but hopefully this gives you an idea of what to look for. LOVE your gorgeous planner!

I totally understand your emotions about your health. I was in chronic pain where I couldn't stand for more than 5 mins. Then 3 years ago I decided to start putting myself first and I lost 45kg (nearly 100lbs). Now, I have started going to the gym to build my strength. Hi Barbara, I love following you on insta! And I'm totally going out of my box making a Christmas colored dephemerember album, never thought I would do that til I stumbled up a beautiful paper pad. And now its almost ready and I'm over the moon with it! I couldn't get into dephemerember with your stunning Bumble Breeze kit and the pinks I added, because I love pink. So now its dark green red, and a bunch of white lace, no bells and santa's, but paperdolls and fairies.
That fruit is called corazón where my home is. In English, it means heart fruit. I guess we call it that because of the shape. My dad loved eating them. 😊

Loved hearing about your trip to Egypt. I wish you and your hubby didn't have to spend so much time apart. I am so with you about exercise and fitness. I've been lifting weights and doing cardio about 5 days per week for over 20 years and it is so worth it! I'm 58 years old now and have the strength and energy of someone much younger. Keep it up!

The fruit in Bangladesh named “Sharifa”. I had in my childhood. Occasionally I get this from Mexican grocery here in USA. My grandma had a tree of this fruit. I love it.
Hi Barbara. I completely understand your anxiety. I am unfortunately one of the people who have taken baby-steps in an attempt to get stronger again. I had 2 serious back operations (2 years)ago which left me weak and afraid that I could hurt again. A few nights ago (in the middle of the night) I let my dog out for a quick pee. As she came running back into the Almost tripped over her and then I did fall. Unfortunately my husband was away so no help from that side. I realized I was not strong enough to get myself up off the floor. It took me ages to crawl like a baby before I was close enough to pull myself up onto the night stand. I started crying thinking of all the things that could go wrong when I was alone at night. I decided to start with just a few steps whenever my hubby is there. I had not realized that I was very close to bed ridden. All I do all day is watch UA-cam and at night I lay in my bed hating myself.❤

That fruit is called a Cheremoya where I live. I have a couple Cheremoya trees that my husband was able to grow from seeds. The squirrels always steal them, and our Guava fruit too.

I enjoy Christmas and finding vintage Christmas decorations, images, ornaments, etc. I don't have children so never did the Christmas morning bit with little ones. I am spiritual but not Christian but I do believe in the magic of Christmas.
I have to say though - I love love love that Dephemerember is not a holiday event. It is a great relief to have something not red and green 🙂

I cried with you, dear Barbara.😭 As an elder woman of 73, I know how easily we can lose our strength and mobility,
and then become dependent on others. I have never gone to that point, but earlier this year an injury layed me up, for a couple of weeks, and I had a taste of what it would be like to not be active and healthy.😰 it was frightening and depressing, to say the least. Our health is our gold. It is everything, and I am so glad to hear you promoting that women stay active and exercise regularly! A great message! 💪YES, i know of that fruit, and we call it cheramoya. 😋 yum! And of course your art is beautiful, as always and I love how you put your personal life out there for us to take a peek at! Your Crows of Winter really speaks to the darkness I feel as an American right now....how dark the world feels. I feel lost and hurting deeply. I needed a winter design that helped me be ok with what I feel...and also letting a little light inside.... (Jelly Roll has a song that says "Save Room for a Little Light"). I am Pagan by spiritual practice and love Shamanic winter nature focused journaling. Your video really touched me, as i sit here in tears. Ive always said, "if you do not have your healh, you have nothing." I was healthy as a horse until life and trauma happened. Now i fight every day just to get out of bed. I have several autoimmune disorders and muscular skeletal issues, and chronic pain. I will be 59 next month and for the first time in my life I feel time is running out. Im a mental health therapist- for many years I've spent my days helping others with their problems. I want to do a journal like yours but feel like I dont even have the strength to get it started!? All I do is work and sleep.😢 Thanks for sharing.

Lovely kit Barbara and well done on your fitness journey! In my daily life, I am a home care worker (so a lot of lifting, walking stairs and moving in general), I go to work on my bike, ànd I'm a mom of a teenage son, so my days are full and long, so I really just can't do fitness. No time, no desire. Actually I hate gyms, haha! When I was younger, I was a swimmer and gymnast on an above average level and I know how important exercising is, and whenever we can in the weekends, we (partner, son and me) go hiking, play tennis or badminton or go swimming in summer. Beside that I'm a yogi, and practice it almost every day.
So... fitness is great, but there are other ways to stay strong and healthy. I'm your age and I feel great, healthy (I can't remember the last time I was sick or had a cold or whatever) and very happy. I think it's the realisation that's important, to get up and go dó something. Do whatever suits your lifestyle, your budget (gyms are NOT cheap!) and your body. Do something you actually like to do. Then you will be able to keep it up as well. At least that's how I see it.

You are quite correct in your health journey because earlier this year I found out I have type 2 diabetes so I had to loose weight, so I started eating properly and exercising neither of which I had done before, now 9 months later I have lost the weight and am fitter than I’ve been for years and feeling happier and more confident and am no longer diabetic, thank you for reminding me that health matters.

I really appreciate you sharing the personal parts of your life, and I am very happy for your experience with feeliy stronger and more powerful - amazing! I also think language is very important and the words we choose can harm others so I am very gently suggesting that saying if you dont have your health, you have nothing can do harm to those who (like myself) experience chronic illness, or various disabilities. I feel disabled and chronically ill folks have a lot to give and teach us. Eventually, we shall all be old and decrepit (hopefully!), and most of us will experience some sort of disability.So keep it up! But dont think that we are not valuable. 😉❤

I love it that you "get" and appreciate the fact that you are able to move so freely. Walking is now difficult and painful for me, and while I'm doing the best I can, I have been told that (because of a hip replace that went bad and destroyed the soft tissue around it) that I will never walk normally again. I love Christmas 🎄! I love the lights, the music, the joy it all brings. I try to keep it easy, but memory-filled for grown children and all the grandkids. Thank you for sharing the heartfelt words on taking care of yourself. I am dealing with weakness in my upper arms. I am supposed to do daily exercises with bands and weights, but my motivation is low. Seeing you do the pull-ups and push-ups was inspiring. It is fearful to lose mobility in the body. Hi Barbara, you asked how to add videos to a journal. You could do this by adding QR codes. They are not literally in your journal, but link to Instagram, for example. Love your UA-cam Chanel.

Hi Barbara- you asked about putting videos with sound in your journal. This is something I want to do with my videos of my daughter and looked it up a few years ago- i forget if its a UA-cam video or google step by step, but you can create your video, create a QR code that goes to where that video is posted and then print out the QR code and put it in your journal. Use your phone camera to view your video whenever you look through you journal. :-) I dont have the specific source onhand but hopefully this gives you an idea of what to look for. LOVE your gorgeous planner!

And now its almost ready and I'm over the moon with it! I couldn't get into dephemerember with your stunning Bumble Breeze kit and the pinks I added, because I love pink.
So now its dark green red, and a bunch of white lace, no bells and santa's, but paperdolls and fairies.

That fruit is called corazón where my home is. In English, it means heart fruit. I guess we call it that because of the shape. My dad loved eating them. 😊

Loved hearing about your trip to Egypt. I wish you and your hubby didn't have to spend so much time apart. I am so with you about exercise and fitness. I've been lifting weights and doing cardio about 5 days per week for over 20 years and it is so worth it! I'm 58 years old now and have the strength and energy of someone much younger. Keep it up!

The fruit in Bangladesh named “Sharifa”. I had in my childhood. Occasionally I get this from Mexican grocery here in USA. My grandma had a tree of this fruit. I love it.
Hi Barbara. I completely understand your anxiety. I am unfortunately one of the people who have taken baby-steps in an attempt to get stronger again. I had 2 serious back operations (2 years)ago which left me weak and afraid that I could hurt again. A few nights ago (in the middle of the night) I let my dog out for a quick pee. As she came running back into the
Almost tripped over her and then I did fall. Unfortunately my husband was away so no help from that side. I realized I was not strong enough to get myself up off the floor. It took me ages to crawl like a baby before I was close enough to pull myself up onto the night stand. I started crying thinking of all the things that could go wrong when I was alone at night.
I decided to start with just a few steps whenever my hubby is there. I had not realized that I was very close to bed ridden. All I do all day is watch UA-cam and at night I lay in my bed hating myself.❤

I've been watching some of your older videos lately, and to see how far you've come and developed is truly inspirational. So much so that at 61 I actually want to get fitter and make my life better. That fruit is called a Cheremoya where I live. I have a couple Cheremoya trees that my husband was able to grow from seeds. The squirrels always steal them, and our Guava fruit too.
