This is an instructional video with everything you need to know to get started flying the Hubsan FPV X4. I show you: how to bind, pre-flight check, flight controls, gyro calibration, screen displays, menu options, and tips for the best FPV reception.
This video also applies to the new Estes Proto X FPV, which is basically a rebranded and redesigned version of the Hubsan X4 FPV, with the same transmitter.
Enjoy!

I bought mine just this week and it is now June 2018, will soon try it out. Your instructions are the best I came across, thanks and regards, Alex
the x4 is amazing , I crashed mine into a church roof and lost it in some major thorn bushes four months and just could not find it , last weekend I found it now the bushes are starting to thin out thanx to winter , I put a new battery in it and it took right off :)
Thank you so much. I got mine and immediately lost it. I ordered another and this video opened up a whole new world for me (used to fly large FPV planes). Works fantastically with my dominators.
Awesome, glad you found it helpful! :)
Thanks for the video- I downloaded the instructions PDF but I love watching videos like this while I'm waiting for my stuff to arrive. Appreciate guys that take the time to do these types of videos. Took your advice and ordered up some eneloop rechargeable batteries!
JackFromNorCal Glad you found my video helpful. :)
This is easily the best most informative video iv seen on this quad
Thanks for this guide, my H107D was very difficult to control until I calibrated it properly.
+ChromeFreeDisco Glad you found it helpful. :)
Great Video! One of the only ones I've seen that actually shows fully how the transmitter works, so very helpful.
Thnx :D
+Abz 99 Glad you found my video helpful. :)
And left hand side button is for taking photos, awesome review thanks for help.
Hi Ryan,
there is one cute item you missed; possibly more for the experimental guys here:
Hold the LEFT button down and switch thr transmitter on.
You will receive a screen showing e.g. the signal strength (RSSI) of the 5.8 GHz return signal from the Quad.
Quite useful, if one wants to Experiment with antennas with higher gain.
ATTENTION: The Quad cannot be flown in this mode, so be sure to switch the transmitter off/on again for flying.
Cheers from Munich, the mother town of Ocotberfest
Volker
worldbestpilot Great tip, thanks! :) Have a beer for me! :D
I had to come and watch this video with an X4D on the way.
Super looking forward to this!
Do you still have it... Five years later?
If you watched the Cali-bros video it shows how to fine tune the calibration. They recommend during calibration putting paper under the side of the copter which it is drifts toward when hovering. So under the right and back leg tip the copter up with paper.
Your second question is that you will see the readout of the trim. Since you didn't adjust the trims they read out centered. That's fine because you are calibrating it the first way we talked about. If you want to correct the hover with the trims you can do that if it's not a lot. But as the video shows in the Cali-bros video, they used the trim for fine tuning the hover.
I know it an old video, but it sure helped me today. The "instructions" aren't very clear. And apparently I was doing everything wrong. Still got it to fly, but I was powering copter then holding right stick down and powering transmitter. Took while to bind but would. Sometimes no video but flew. Who knows.
Thanks for the video.
Glad my video was helpful! :)
Great video! I don't find the gyro calibration as well as the way to turn off the LED in the instruction manual. So this video definitely helps! Thanks!
talknomore Glad to help, and I'm glad you liked the video! :)
One other thing not mentioned in this otherwise great instructional video is simply that the quad should be lying flat and level at the moment it is calibrated. That is how it 'learns' what level is as a reference. When you first turn it on set it down on a level surface quickly since calibrating is one of the steps it automatically takes when booting up and binding. And in addition to that I might also mention the maximum size card you can use is 16 GB.
@Raka, it's included when you buy it. There is also a great carrying case for this model and remote too.
Just got this, and your video definitely shed some light on This Quadrotor that the instruction manual couldn't do for me! I see many oppurtunities for using this, not just as a pastime! Anyways, thanks for the great video! :D
stormsand9 Glad to help! Also, if this is your first quadcopter, be sure to check out my just-released "Beginner's Guide To Quadcopters" video for more info and tips to get started flying. :)
I certainly will! Ive flown an RC heli before, but i wasnt pro. I think your video will really help; thanks for the reccomendation!
So on the Hubsan H107D FPV RTF transmitter; there is a way to change from mode one to mode two and vise versa. Before you turn on the TX you hold the left stick to the upper left and then you hold the right stick to the upper right(mode1) or to the upper left(mode2). rotate both sticks two times then use any trim button to set calibration.
Jonathan Shortt You sure that's for Mode 1 and Mode 2? Mode 1 is throttle on the right stick, so it usually requires some sort of hardware change, since the sticks would need to change which one auto-centers itself.
Thanks for the posting, well explained. I just purchased one yesterday.
Glad to help. Have fun with yours! :)
Flyn' Ryan. Real cool bud.
Real Chloe Noel Thanks. :)
thanks a lot!!! i didn't know how to find the main menu. it's great! Thanks!!!
Yannick Grau Glad you found the video helpful. :)
Got h107 d last week for my son, it was so impressive I ordered another for myself thanks Ryan ! Hmmm la trax looks good too lol ARGHH ^^
Nice! :) Yeah, the LaTrax Alias is so much fun to fly!
Thank you so much I didn't know what to get so I looked through your videos and found this not I go around doing fpv around my house and area
Awesome, glad my videos were able to help you make a choice! :)
I just got one of these on BG for 65 bucks, and I was having a brain malfunction trying to get into the programming menu by following the printed directions and having no luck " to get into the programming menu push the elevator down for 1 second" I though then meant push the elevator stick down vs pushing down on the elevator stick.. anyways thanks for this vid it helped me out. :)
+Cy Lon Hey bud, long time no see! Glad my video helped you out. :)
Oh i'm still kicking around, and i still watch all your vids, Really liking the rc boats! I've been messing around with the brushless mini quads, last couple of vids have been really good. :) yep this was a indoor spur of the moment purchase and it's not too bad now that i can get into the menu. lol
Thankyou I'll keep trying
I tryed it a couple of ways maybe it's my drone. Thanks for ur help
great review! got it for Christmas flys
great
Thank you for the awesome quick guide!
Glad to help!
Very helpful video, thank you so much!!!
***** Glad you found it helpful! :)
Frederik HS Bundgaard, UA-cam won't let me reply directly to you, so here is my reply:
I mention that in this video... it is due to dead/dying batteries in the Transmitter. :)
i have a question on the manual script that the hubsan comes with it shows the copter battery life differently to mine and yours it shows it the same was the controller does but mine and yours have it in volts how do i change this
tip don't turn of the led if your using it outside because it can become confusing which way it is facing
tip your so-post to fold the cable at the back in as it and get snagged and changes where its center of mass is wasting battery life
but thanks it really helped out and you have convinced me to get a memory card for it
oli j gravity not mass and after i said same i was meant to say way not was
what is the time for you flyin ryan rc
I want my Hubsan x4 h107c to fly longer what battery do you recommend
+Flyin' Ryan RC the screen went black when ever I dropped the quad how do I fix it
Thank you Very much. I tried that. I Will check the circuit.
I found out that you can also use the left trim buttons in the menu:)
Good man Ryan, only had this x4 4 a couple of days and it was drifting like a bastard! The recalibration tip you gave worked, but only in expert mode.....maybe you said that, I am quite drunk.....Keep up the work man x
LOL!
Calibration should work in normal mode too, I'm pretty sure, unless maybe you adjusted your low rates down from the default settings?
well done :)
I sure like mine, lots of fun in a small package
I also have the walkera ladybug, rc eye one, and a fw450 with gimbal and FPV they all have there merits.
Thanks! I like mine too… tons of fun and so easy to use!
Excellent, Thank you
Glad to help! :)
Great video very helpful.
Thanks, glad you found it helpful! :)
Great video, very detailed, thank you.
Thanks, glad you liked it. :)
is this the best fpv quad for 300$ or less I'm good at flying normal quads but want to get into fpv what do you recommend thanks! Awesome videos too I always go to your channel for best quad reviews!
199almost This is basically the only RTF FPV quad. However, Blade just announced the Nano QX FPV RTF, but it's $420. It comes with Fatshark goggles though, so that gives more possibility for future expansion and use with other FPV systems. You could probably build a nice FPV rig for under $300, but that's not really my thing, so I don't have any info to offer on that front.
Flyin' Ryan RC thanks I'm going to get the nano qx now awesome videos keep up the good work 😛
199almost Thanks! :)
I hope your still here. I have the FPV X4 and it drifts so much I cannot get it to fly.I recalibrated but no luck.
Mark Preece Are the props in good condition?
Thank you so much for being there. I will change out the four props to see if that corrects the issue. Thank you again so much.
Thanks you've been really helpful
Glad to help! :)
you are so helpful tank you for this video
Marijn Pelsma Glad to help! :)
I get my Hubsan FPV H107D in 2 days can't wait looks like fun... Video was great to watch TY for the heads up on my new toy
Scott Smith Glad you found the video helpful. :)
Frederik HS Bundgaard, did you try new batteries?
what an excellent piece of kit. how much are they?. The T/X looks great and does so much.
Be sure to check my videos for a review and flight video too. :) You can get this for about $140 from Banggood.com: www.banggood.com/Wholesale-Hubsan-H107D-FPV-X4-5_8G-4CH-6-Axis-RC-Quadcopter-RTF-p-68571.html?p=Z431161082112012126P
The button to the left which looks the same as record turns of the stabilizer. I found this very usefull when flying with expert mode, since it tends to wobble when you break. Btw, could you make a video on how to fix the videos? That's how i ended up here) :P
Yes, the button on the left is for stability mode, but the H107D does not have a stability mode. That button is for future compatibility with forthcoming models. :) If you noticed any effect with the H107D, it was probably a placebo effect. heh :)~ As for converting the video, it's quite simple... I show the software to use, and the settings to use, in this post at RCGroups: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1842561&page=65&highlight=handbrak#post26649346
Hey Ryan, Great Content In Your Videos. Keep Up The Great Job And Have Fun. TJ. The Barefoot Blacksmith.
thank you ryan
Alan Gillette Glad to help. :)
Thanks for making such an amazing video
Ps do u know what the actual range is
Duncan Leslie Thanks! And, no, I don't do range testing, so I don't know what you could realistically expect for range.
I love your video it's my favorite
Thanks! :)
Thanks for the help!
Hi,
Video is great and self explanatory.
I started flying the copter and after it crashed once the throttle stops responding.
Binding is fine and the false effect i see is:
1. Throttle not functional (rottors not spinning)
2. LED ON\OFF does not work (The LCD display the LED ON\OFF but nothing happens on the copter
3. The indication of the Copter Battery is gone.
Any idea how to fix?
Thanks, Guy
Guy Greenboim Hmm, not sure. Sounds like you may have damaged the flight controller, but I don't really know. :(
Thanks for this video, I've done what the manual says to do, and followed your instructions here, and I have two questions please:
1. I can't get the calibration controls to work so it can hover in place, it always leans right and backwards
2. When you click the calibration buttons on the transmitter, do you see your screen readout the adjustments, because mine doesn't, they always readout centered Thanks for your help!!!
the artist By "calibration controls" I think you mean trim buttons? Have you done the accelerometer calibration? And yes, the display should show the position of your trim settings, so as you press those buttons, the diagram on the display should change.
Flyin' Ryan RC Right, Trim Controls, mine does not read out the changes and yes I did the Acc Calibration, I think I have a faulty until lol, thanks for your time!
the artist Hmm, yeah that's worrying that the display does not show trim changes. :(
the artist One other thing not mentioned in this otherwise great instructional video is simply that the quad should be lying flat and level at the moment it is calibrated. That is how it 'learns' what level is as a reference. When you first turn it on set it down on a level surface quickly since calibrating is one of the steps it automatically takes when booting up and binding. And in addition to that I might also mention the maximum size card you can use is 16 GB.
BushPilot444 Hey, thank you very much for that!!!
Bad thing about menu. I rather like separate, dedicated buttons, not setting on sticks. Aside that, everything looks fine. Maybe there is way to 'hack' the antenna - so that it has more range for flying.
I read that this has a stereo jack input to allow for the use of FPV goggles from the transmitter.
Yep, that is correct. :) I don't know much about goggles, but I believe you can use FatShark goggles with this.
Thank you! that is helpful information, cause it helps me a lot. Can you make something more about the drone?
great videos
+Martin Tiffany Thanks! :)
Thanks for this guide.I bought Hubsan FPV X4 last summer. Everything was fine .This year it do not want to fly anymore. The propellers turn but it do not want to rase up. Do you have any idea what can it be .Thanks
+keli rrapaj You have the props on in the wrong positions. I discuss that in more detail in this video: ua-cam.com/video/N4qJNgV0DGI/v-deo.html
Great Video, glad i found it,but my Hubsan FPV x4 keeps drifting right, tried what you recomended but the lights wont blink am i doing something wrong?
Frankie Connolly Keep trying, it should work. Make sure you really pin the left stick down into the right corner, and move the right stick back and forth fairly quickly.
Thanks for posting this awesomely informative video!! 1 question though, is there not a micro card slot in the drone rather than putting it into the controller? apparently the guy at the hobby shop said it's better if you can put it in the drone.
The X4 FPV does not record via the quad itself... only via the screen. The Estes Proto X FPV is a remake of this model though, and it can record via the quad itself. It is not as durable of a design though. Check out my full reviews of the X4 FPV and Proto X FPV for more details. :)
what's the type of the transmitter? or it is included when you bought the hubsan?
btw great vid buddy!
Raka Gunawan If you buy the RTF package, this transmitter is included. Glad you liked the video! :)
Very helpful
Thanks for the great video! Question -- after only a few flights, my controller no longer seems to control the props on the Hubsan, although it pairs and I get video. Throttle will just not go on. I know my X4 works, because I can fly it with a controller for an Estes brand quadcopter. Occasionally while trying to get it to work with the PFV controller the props will suddenly go full blast out of nowhere, and it is if the controls are reversed and the neutral position is instead full blast. Anyway, thanks again, and curious if you have ideas. I feel like the controller must be stuck in some odd mode, or in need of reset.
Hmm, yeah, maybe you accidentally changed modes…. check the manual for the process to change modes: www.personal-drones.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Hubsan-X4-FPV-Manual.pdf
Also maybe try new batteries in the transmitter.
Flyin' Ryan i want to get this for my father for fathers day. He is bad at flying anything with controllers (bad hand eye cordination)
My questions are...
-Is the drone durable
-Is the drone auto balanced
-Is it blown away easily by the wind?
+Jon Waaler This may be a hard model to learn how to fly with. It is fast and twitchy. Though, the FPV may be easier for him to grasp than trying to fly via line-of-sight. It is fairly durable, but certainly not indestructible. It does have self-leveling, so it will return to a hover when the right stick is centered. It can handle a bit of wind... maybe 7-10mph, but ultimately fighting wind comes down to pilot skill.
Flyin' Ryan RC Does it happen to be water proof?
+Jon Waaler No, it is not.
Is this the best drone
Whats the best frequency to be on? I adjusted it because camera was not working now I think I have it on bad frequency.. Thats a huge part you may want to add to your video..
I don't really know much about the frequencies, but I've heard others say that it shouldn't matter, or that one freq isn't necessarily better than another. Maybe it depends on the specific radio waves in your area. Try different frequencies and see if one seems better for you. :)
Hello dear Ryan, I loved your video! Excellent! May I ask you something , do you think TX 03 camera 🎥 can works with my H107D video transmitter? Because I crashed my Hubsan and the original module camera is very expensive... Thank you friendly, Chris
I am not familiar with that camera. Does it have a 5.8ghz video transmitter?
Love your vids btw
Aidan Dolph Thanks, I'm glad you like them! :)
Hey Ryan
Awesome video, just got a 107D, I have a mode 1 set up & have been trying to recalibrate the accelerometer with no luck. Have read through the instructions a number of times, don't no if there's a problem with it or not. Any idea ?
Andrew Death See if this video is of any help: ua-cam.com/video/p2UDxASylts/v-deo.html
Hey mate
Finally worked just kept doing what I was doing & success. Thanks so much for your help.
Also i have a Chinese copy qav 250 racer with a CC3D open pilot controller. Finally got flying after a lot of set up issues. But is very unstable & twitchy at hover & slight lift, any tips or vids on this ?
Andrew Death I am not familiar with that. Sounds like you may need to tweak the flight controller, but I have never messed with such things.
Ok mate, no worries will keep trying
Thanks for your help
How is the lag of the camera, this is important when flying FPV
Fixed it but thanks for the answert
Is changing the frequency as easy as cycling through the frequencies. I lost video signal after a crash. Still get battery voltage telemetry but no video.
Hi, thanks for this guide, it helped me a lot :)
I am a happy owner of an Estes Proto X FPV and I'm looking forward to buy a Hubsan X4 H107D FPV. But before ordering a BNF version of the X4, I suddendly had the weird feeling I need to be sure of some things... I know that the X4 will bind to the Estes transmitter (same protocol), but I'm not sure if the other functions are compatible.
Does the FPV video stream of the X4 binds normaly to the Estes transmitter ? Does the record button works properly ? Are all the settings available ?
I actually need those answers because in my country, the Hubsan X4 H107D FPV transmitter is forbidden to sell and use (for some weird reasons of frequencies), but not the Estes one (until now). So I am allowed to buy it BNF because only the transmitter is forbidden (at least, that's what I've guessed). But it would have no interest if all the options and functions are not available/compatible with my Estes transmitter...
Thanks.
(sorry for my english, hope you understood me)
+Jet Li Yes, all the settings and FPV should work just fine. :)
+Flyin' Ryan RC
Thank you so much ! I will order the X4 BNF on Banggood and hopefully border control in my country will not stop it... XD
Hi Ryan, always look forward to your videos. I have a question.... I have had this copter for about a month.... Do you know the life span of the batteries? This morning after a one hour charge the copter was indicating that the battery was drained. Switched batteries and had the same problem? Any info you have would be most helpful.
Dan Foley LiPos are pretty iffy. If you don't let them cool between charges, or if you leave them sitting around fully charged for long periods of time, that can really affect their lifespan. I am far from an expert in batteries though, so I don't really know what to suggest. It's a bit odd that both batteries have the same behavior.
Thanks so much for your help Ryan. I have a few batteries more that I'm going to try out later today and see how they work. These batteries were discharged and sat on the shelf for about a week. I've since read that that they probably should have been charged to 50% and stored in a refrigerator.... But I think that's for long term storage (months?). I'm also using the inexpensive charger that came with the copter possibly need an upgrade! Thanks again for your help!
Dan Foley Yeah, I think the 50% storage charge is important for months-long storing, but a week shouldn't make any difference, I don't think. Hopefully there's not something wrong with the quad itself. :(
Thanks Ryan, didn't think of that... I have a second copter which I just need to make a quick fix on and I'll use it to check my batteries out.... Thanks again!
Dan Foley Fingers crossed for ya! :)
I just bought a X4 and think I got a defected unit. When I turn on the transmitter then turn on the x4 it will match. However nothing else will work properly, even after following all in instructions to correct the problem. And if I pull the throttle down and let it go it goes back to the middle and the X4 takes of like a bat out of hell! The only response is to turn off the transmitter and the X4 will drop. That's it. So what do I do? Besides use it for target practice?
Chappy
NOW! that's a big transmitter lol for a little thing like that but then again the screen takes up half of he transmitter but still BIG!
Andrew Ishmael I like it though... fits nice in the hands. :)
The camera could look at little better on. The screen but it's really good for that
Andrew Ishmael All FPV cameras are pretty low quality like this, because that is necessary in order for it to be streamed in real time.
Well atleast it has one lol and dang my cx-10 quadcopter it taking for ever but it's coming from China so I need to be patient lol
Hi Ryan! Nice video thnx. I just wanna ask you why I'm not getting the same menu as yours on my Quad controller, I just bout it yesterday and I cannot format the card from the controller( the only choise on the menu are just this 4: Reverse,Sensitive,Frequency and exit) even though I did format it on the PC...could you tell me what's wrong? I find it extremely difficult flying this drone any good advice for a first time users like me? THNX Ciao!!!
Hi Ryan,
Great video, as always. just a quick question. I am looking for a cheap FPV quad with good picture quality. So I am guessing the Estes Proto X is better than the Hubsan for me??? Is there any major difference in picture quality on these two? and where can I get a Estes Proto X for a cheap price??? They seem to go above $200 everywhere.... damn!
Muhannadh Aasir Well, the picture quality via FPV is the same in all of these, since FPV resolution is limited in order to be able to stream it in real time. The Proto X FPV can record in HD though, so it can shoot video in higher quality than the Hubsan X4. What you see on the screen, though, is the same in both. The Proto X has a wide-angle lens though, so that helps a lot too. As for price, I don't know… I don't monitor prices of all these things in all stores. ;) That's what Google is for. heh
Yeah I thought so...well...I think I'll go for the proto x...
Thanks man...much appreciated XD
Ryan, thanks for the video. Out of the box I could not get mine to hover, it flys to the left and back. I tried the trims, changed the props(correctly-A B back and front) to no avail? Did yours fly without any calibration? This is my first quadcopter. It seemed like a good one to start with.
Thanks
***** You did the recalibration process on a level surface?
I haven't been able to properly recalibrate it. The throttle revs and the lights don't blink after following the steps. Here are the steps 1) pair 2) put in expert mode 3) throttle down and to the right 4) move aerilon knob right and left till the copter lights blink. Thanks for any help
***** I'm having the same issue with mine. It seems that the right stick somehow became the accelerometer. I've tried re-calibrating and got the same results. Frustrating.
hey flyin ryan, you have helped me before and i appreciate it. i purchased the proto X FPV and i really want to enjoy it, my problem is that the screen on the receiver keeps cutting in and out. is that a manufacturer error. or something im missing?
Austad The DeadPool Does it only happen while flying, when the quad is at a far range, or does it happen when the quad is just sitting there near the transmitter?
Its when i move the transmitter. The copter would be about 5 feet away.
Austad The DeadPool It's hard to say... the screen can go black when the video signal is lost, so if you move the transmitter away from the quad and block the signal, that could be what's happening. Or maybe there's some sort of loose connection in the transmitter and the actual physical movement is causing the disconnection.
Yeah i feel its the movement, ill just lean it to the left and right, causing it to cut in and out.
Austad The DeadPool I'd contact Hobbico customer support in that case. They have great support and may just send you a new transmitter, or have you send that one in for repairs.
when i learned how to fly my drone i called my friend and said look out your window, and he saw my drone hovering and i was recording his window XD
NetherAnimations (Gaming and Animation) Just make sure not to record in other people's windows! heh ;)
XD
I do:) i stalk in bathroom Windows its nasty when i see people take shits
Hi, I'm a newbie, is it possible to bind Hubsan H107D-A05 transmitter to other quadcopter brands? Thanks:)
nice!
+Flyin' Ryan RC I just bought my fpv and used it once. The next time i tried to use it, it would not bind to the controller, it stops flashing but the heli battery does not show up on the controller and there's no motor movement at all
Daniel Moritz You sure the battery is properly charged? I'm not really sure what else would cause that problem...
For some reason when i changed my battery out on the quad to my second one the trottle would not work i would push the throttle all the way up and the props would not move and would not go anywhere
Looking to buy a drone for my 7 year old son since I have my phantom and he goes with me to fly. Would you recommend this one or M62R? Or are there any other options that are better for him? I dont want something that he would get bored with quickly and want him to have a camera. Pls let me know. Thanks for this video also.
Jesuis Charlie Well, I wouldn't suggest any of that for a 7yro, but you know him better than me, and apparently have quadcopter experience, so that's a choice you will need to make. I would personally start him out with something really simple and safe like the UDI U816A or Air Hogs Helix X4. I think an X4 or M62R would be too twitchy and breakable for a 7yro to learn on. They would also be more likely to hurt him if he were to crash into himself.
mad me laugh when you said "Flip off" lol
:)~
have you tried Walkera Ladybird V2 FPV ? I have heard decent feedback on it.
No, but I've been curious to try it.
Hey Ryan i wanted to ask you if changing or increasing the sensitivity of the HT012 changes the feel of the throttle? Or does this change make the throttle stick a little tighter? The reason im asking is because when i use this ht012 radio the throttle is so loose it causes my h123d to yo yo when im flying it so id like to tighten the throttle. I dont know if taking apart this radio will give me access to a tensioner spring or if there is one. Thnk you Ryan!!
Just got one of these from BG. First 3 flights were fine. Now the transmitter wont bind to the copter. I've got fully charged new batteries installed. Says "system initlize" than the red light flashes. Doesn't say "bind to plane" like it used to. Using Energizer rechargeable batteries. Also copter battery is fully charged. Any help you may have would be appreciated!!!! Thanks!!
+Digimortal1622 Weird, I'm not sure what that could be. Did you drop the transmitter or anything like that?
Hi, Ryan! Do you find that the transmitter battery indication is low because of using the recheargeable batteries? I switched my digital camera to rechargeables, and the run time isn't good because the rechargeables need a lower cutoff voltage - which cannot be changed.....
dustcommander100 That could be. I don't really know much about batteries… it's all magic to me. lol
Flyin' Ryan RC Each battery type has its own nominal voltage - like alkalines are about 1.5V per cell and Lipo's are 4.2V per cell. NiCad's are about 1.2V per cell, so 4 in series gives 4.8V. 4 alkalines in series gives more like 6V - so the battery level indicator for fully charged NiCad's will read lower than with fully charged alkalines... In the case of my old digital camera, the battery cutoff is set for the higher nominal voltage of alkalines - which is too high to get the full use of the NiCad batteries I tried to use....Shuts off the camera before the batteries have been used fully.
Hey ,
Nice vids dude.is there a quad drone with a good camera , long range 0-300/400 meters or longer and infrared for an option ? So xou can seitch from normal to ifr?
400 meters would be pushing the range of most "RTF" quads, but you could get that sort of range with a good custom build. Same with cameras… most "built-in" cameras are far from "good", though they suffice for amateur recreational video. I'm not sure why you'd want to switch between radio and infrared, but I don't believe any RC can do that. They are either one or the other.
hey just watched you video and very helpful but i was wondering if you could me with something?
I just started flying it and it starts flashing, just want to know if you know what to do about it???
+Adam Voelmle Sounds like the battery is dead.
I just got this model but the videos record in 600 hour sections! There is about 3 to 5 minutes of video and then 595 hours of black screen!
Camsoft Studios That's odd... are you sure it's not just your video player? Seems like that would be a massively large file if it actually was recorded into the file. Try using VLC Media Player.
In regards to the charger wall mount, I have an iphone adapter and ipad adapters. One of the ipad chargers is 10W and another is 12W and the iphone has a 5W charger. Which one do you think? From the link you sent me I think it's the 12... Thanks
You can use any of them, but I would suggest the iPhone adapter. That is what I use. The iPad adapters charge faster, but that will shorten the overall lifespan of the battery.
Flyin' Ryan RC how long on iphone adapter normally pls?
Hey would the h107d controller work with h502s quad? Thanks
Would you recommend the hubsan x4 h107d+ or the proto x for a first fpv drone?
+riptidegames I have no experience with the H107D+ yet, so I can't really say. And the Proto X FPV has that exposed frame design which makes it vulnerable to damage in crashes, making it not a great option for learning FPV flight.
Hy Ryan, is the Proto X on the same protocol as the H107D, will it bind?
Thanks
+nicenquiet Yep. :)
Hi Ryan. Does the micro card go in the drone or the controller? There's a slot in each of them...
I miss the part where you said in the controller. What does the slot in the drone do??
For the Hubsan X4 or the Proto X FPV? The Proto X FPV can film to the quad itself, which is what the slot is for. The X4 cannot film to the quad itself. See my full reviews of these models for that kind of info.
Thanks
Is it worth it or any other suggestions near the price
Alejandro Medina The only other similar choice would be the Walkera LadyBird FPV, but I haven't been a fan of Walkera products. There are a few other RTF FPV quads coming out now, but they use 2.4ghz, not 5.8ghz, so they aren't as good as this. But they are much cheaper. Check out the Sky Hawkeye and JJRC H9D. And there is also the WLtoys V666, but it is massive compared to this.
I have question here. Normally, the remote can use on other flight model? Example like x5c or a big plane model, jet
A Zamari No. First of all, different models use different radio protocols, so you have to be sure the radio you have uses the same protocol as the model. So, for your example, the X5C is made by Syma and will not work with a Hubsan transmitter. Also, the X5C has a camera, but it is not an FPV camera, so there is no live video signal being sent back to the transmitter. Having a screen on the transmitter will not make the X5C into an FPV quad. That requires a video transmitter on the quad, in addition to the camera.
Flyin' Ryan RC Thanks for clarify :)
Will this bind to a Tactic TTX650? I realize FPV would be lost.
No, Tactic only binds to SLT protocol, and Hubsan uses its own different protocol.
