Thank you so much Gina for this Ciambelle recipe. My wife and I grew up in an Italian family and well let's just we ate our fare share of this delicious bread! My wife has always wanted to make these and she followed your recipe and they came out AMAZING! Thanks again for sharing this video and the recipe!
It really depends on how long you bake them for. Traditionally, this is a soft bread, but my mother in law makes hers very crunchy. I prefer them softer personally. @@mariannagidaro816
My mother added Sambuca to the dough as well. Anise was incorporated into the dough as you did, but they also spread anise on the breadboard and rolled the dough in the anise seeds. They were rolled into a twist but never flattened.
Great recipe; just like my mom made them. The whole house smells great. Yes, salt in the boiling water is needed, unless your diet restricts salt. Great music as well!
I follow the recipe to the T, except I divided the quantity by half. They came out good... BUT... I have some questions. 1- Do you salt the boiling water? I didn't and mine came out insipid (Unsalted) 2- Boiled them until they came up floating, then cooked at 400 F until golden. But they were still doughy (raw) inside. Any suggestion as to why that happened? Thank you.
