You are right... That weapons mix is very random. And why only the composite shortbow? Everywhere else in the 2e 'verse proficiency for a type of bow applies to both standard and composite versions. (Harder pull doesn't mean you don't know how to nock the arrows...) This is madness... Heresy! Heresy, I say! (Sorry, channeled my inner Commisar.)
Their personality and mannerisms really seemed glossed over in the description. Based on how they are described it sounds like they would be very detached from the world and have to learn how to live in a physical environment. Though I’m just guessing
