My biggest 2024 discovery was Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead. It solidified my opinion that Andy Garcia is one of the most underrated actors of the 90s!
I have owned two film archives: my first one was 13k and my second one is now over 9k. I love film and I love hunting down new films I have never seen or always wanted to. This is why I buy so many films each year. I personally love the decades from the 20-80s.
"Go For Sisters" looks very great. I will be watching for that DVD to pop up. I love the idea of the aging, and hard of sight detective. Also, does anybody else want to volunteer their time to build some shelves for Brian? I've been watching him for years, and every video those box sets are sagging down lower and lower. It kinda documents the unstoppable forward march of the passage of time. Major trigger for my collectors OCD! Great video guys.
Two of my favorites together the only thing missing is to be there with you talking movies. Nothing can compare to being in a movie theater with a full audience and an introduction and Q+A at the end.
Love this episode - so agree about discovery. I've seen over 18,000 movies. I'm very jealous of your "Greed" experience. Wish I lived close to the New Bev. I used to go to the theater 2-3 times a week. Now it's less than once a year. The behavior of other people is the sole reason. Texting, talking, arguing, threatening, throwing food, I could go on. Very frustrating.
Great list and concept, gentlemen. I put them all on the list (or in a queue) except the one I've seen (Gentlemen Broncos--which I feel about the same on).
It was a big year for movies for me. My favorite 2024 discoveries: Massage Parlor Murders (1973) Busting (1974) A Night at the Opera (1935) Jeremiah Johnson (1972 -at the Vista in Hollywood) Little Big Man (1970 -at the Vista) Death Wish (1974 -at the Vista) What’s Up, Doc? (1972 -at the Vista, probably my #1 of the year. Played amazingly with a crowd) One-Eyed Jacks (1961 -at the Vista) The Wild Bunch (1969- at the Vista) Road House (1989) Looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977) A Shot in the Dark (1964 -at the Vista) Little Darlings (1980) The Man with Two Brains (1983) Giant (1956 -at the Vista) The Passenger (1975) Women in Love (1969) Good Luck, Miss Wyckoff (1979) The Doll Squad (1973) Big Wednesday (1978 -at the Vista) The Big Sleep (1946) Terror Train (1980) The Young Nurses (1973) The Maltese Falcon (1941) The Terminator (1984 -I know, what am I doing?) They Call Me Trinity (1970) Alligator (1980) All the President’s Men (1976) A Bittersweet Life (2005) Eastern Condors (1987) Turkey Shoot (1982) Battle Royale (2000) Trouble Man (1972) Stone Cold (1991) Wendigo (2001) Coming Home (1978) Easy Rider (1969) American Hot Wax (1978) Black Swan (2010) Cloverfield (2008) The Mist (2007) High Tension (2003) Francis Goes to West Point (1952) The Slave aka Check to the Queen (1969) Santa Sangre (1989) Last Tango in Paris (1972) El Topo (1970) The Fugitive Kind (1960) Shatter Dead (1994) The Sting (1973) Steel (1979) Z (1969) Mr. Soft Touch (1949) Harlan County U.S.A. (1976) Cash on Demand (1961) The Executioner (1963) In Bruges (2008) Tokyo Godfathers (2003) La Grande Bouffe (1973)
Thanks for another great video! I wish these type of talks would come with a written list of your picks in the describtion or as a pinned comment. That would be neat, because then I could watch and enjoy your video and add the titles to my watchlist afterwards. Now I have to second-screen the whole time and add the titles as you drop the names and can't fully concentrate on your talk. Would be great for every top list video of yours to have the actual list. 🙂
Under a Texas Moon and Viennese, nights, Follow thru, Vagabond King,30 version, restored version of Pointed Heels, restored version of the 1929 version Mysterious Island is rare.
When the dude comes out swinging from the get-go with Blonde Crazy I knew this discussion was going to be my jam.

It’s a fantastic undertaking rated film.

This is great decussion about Classic Movies. These are 2 of the best. It's good to see them together talking about Classic Movies.
Excellent discussion. Love the focus on overlooked films.

New discoveries of the year > any top film of the year discussion
Great video! You just gave me a handful of films to run down and watch for myself. Looking to more videos with the renewed focus on films in general.

Picked up Gentleman Broncos at the pawnshop. It’s a very quirky movie
Heath and Brian? Careful crossing the streams guys! This was a lot of fun and I've added several to my lists now.

UA-cam automatically transcribes every video posted, so the written record might help you with your notes after you've seen the video.

Love this pure focus on the movies themselves… thanks! 🤓
it's going to get worse.
I have seen this on t.n.t years ago
