I felt like I was watching Frank Howarth, Fabian's Tiny Workshop and Mathias Wandell's video at the same time. But also very unique. Amazing job Marius. Also, very glad I subscribed.
Your FIRST segmented bowl?! I wouldn't have known that had you not said something (I just discovered your channel, so am looking at your videos out of chronological order as my mood dictates). I am impressed.
I like very much the adequation of the video withe the music... In french we said: " pour un coup d'essai, c'est un coup de maître!" Thanks for sharing your passion.
Third-party T-shaped toolrests are available and relatively cheap in the USA. On the other hand, it would be easy to make one if you have access to welding equipment.
The bowl turned out quite beautiful! You do very fine work, I especially liked your small box video for your hardware. I love your videos, they are entertaining all the way through, even the math parts. :) I especially appreciate that you mute the sound of the machines so that I am not blown out of my chair each time a tool is turned on. Many woodworkers miss this and in turn I end up missing alot of their dialogue because after awhile turning the volume up and down is a pain so I just simply mute their videos and watch in silence. You also moderated the music level as well. Bravo! So hurry up and make another video. ;^)
Nice work on the Bowl. Did you make the cole jaws yourself? When the bowl was rotating at the end of video there were a few dark reflective spots on the finish, is that marks from the jaws or the pattern of the wood? Regardless, I think the bowl looks amazing and your friend will be very lucky to have it. Keep up the good work. Thanks for posting the build.
Oh, thank you wery much for that info, I'll look there. By the way, it's nice to see some very good woodworking europeans, not just Americans. Keep up the good work! :)
alishas woodworks You have absolutely nothing to fear. The segments were really easy to turn, because you only turn sidegrain. The challenging part was the deep hollowing, But with a proper and long enough tool rest (not like mine) this shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure you have good glue joints.
Marius Hornberger thanks so much i will go ahead and use your advice thanks a lot check out my youtube channel ( alishas woodworks) and subscribe and i will let you know when i rounded up the courage to turn a segmented bowl thanks so much :-)
Do you still have the same lathe? If so are you happy with it? O)r, do you wish you had got one with variable speed? I am interested because I am looking to get a lathe. And this is one I am considering. Thanks.
+Richard Hawkins yes, I still have it. After using it for 4 years I'd like to have variable speed (I'll install a VFD in near future) if also like to have a M33 spindle with MK2 taper. Also an auto eject for the tailstock would be nice(I already upgraded that myself though) But still a perfect beginner lathe
4:59, take care man. Even Mr Wandel uses sticks for his tableSaw cuts. Safety tip brought to you by GRRR ripper. but seriously, take care. not willing to annoy you, Im sure you know your tools and you work very well. I never worked wood, just this saw looking a bit scary LOL.
I wouldn't buy a tool that pretend to look dangerous. Its a scam. Perhaps you can change it for a real dangerous one so my upper comment will make sense ?. People in YT get annoyed by this safety comments, which actually, in my case are concerns. I work every day and use sorta a machine, not a wood tool, but still dangerous (doesnt look that dangerous but can kill you), try to double check safety points as much as I can. If someone else goes into the office an notices me that Im doing something unsafe, I try to correct that immediately or stop the task. My coworkers are not trolling me, just taking care of me. I do the same if I spot that someone else is doing something in a way I THINK its dangerous. Up to now none of us got offended LOL We got offended but only by stupid reasons LOL. Cheers.
Happened to me. that arranged things in a way is actually "safe". then, an event grab my attention (I need to have a look to LCD monitor) or the thing that is being driven by the machine makes something weird .. bla bla bla ... by the time I turn into "OSD safety mode" again, I've noticed many times, that I was failing at some safety point. Just got a bit distracted. Of course initial arrangement was not safe enough ... well, I did my best to make this commenting boring enough too !!!. Cheers.
I've been watching your videos for sometime and i'm really impressed with your builds! Keep up the good work!
fantastic
Marius,
Not only are you a clever young man, you are becoming quite the craftsman.

That's a really pretty bowl, Marius. I guess results like that keep you going, even after 100s of bowls... :-)

u getting good at this . keep up the good work enjoy your videos..... ;-)
The only thing missing here is a branding iron. You are a pro!
Diogo Pimentel Yeah, I really need one.
thank you very much
Very nice result! The color changing you mention is called "chatoyance" (cat's eye) in English.
awldune Ah, thanks
Hah, I always thought that was a David Marks-ism. Looks awesome anyway.
Very nice bowl! I think it wouldn't be a problem to buy a longer tool rest. Or i'm wrong?
SunLightTheTaleTelle Sure, but they are a little hard to get in Germany.
Bandsaws rule! (Let the discussion commence!)
superb
impressive, keep on trrucking !
I love the bow you did an awesome job and love you video
Thank you Vera!
You are so welcome
Good job Marius! What kind of finish did you use? Thanks.
Woodworking Barcelona It's beeswax mix.
SEND ME THOSE SPAGHETTI SAWDUSTS
Nice work on the Bowl. Did you make the cole jaws yourself? yes I made them myself. and yes these are marks form the jaws.
The teak is hypnotic. Could you have prepared the inside of the original bowl before adding the teak?
you mean sanding and finishing?
The turning, for which you needed a larger toolrest. (BTW, even my wife likes your videos.)
Well, I did turn it without the ring a little bit, bit the bowl shape changes a little when the ring is glued on.
Thanks for your reply. Enjoy all your videos.
How old are you, I'm sure your will go very far as a carpenter or craftsman 👍
s = 2 r tan(alpha/2)
surfcello Stimmt.
Hey man great job, keep it up. I have some question what your real job is, and if you still learning what profesion you take. Bdw where you from? :)
Vaidas M Cool that you didn't hear my German accent. (I'M from Germany) I'm waiting for beginning with my study. (engineering)

Great work! And also nice english ^^
MrPalapikus Thank you really much!
Hello I wanted to ask if they sometimes make a video where they show their workshop ?
Jannik Kretzer Soon.
Okay thanks a nice day yet
I can see you watch Frank Howarth.
8:29 Frank Howarth?
hallo Marius , Leider stimmt die Videobeschreibung nicht ...du hast da kein Teakholz verwendet sondern Mahagoni ! Man sieht das sehr am Farbverlauf. Danke für die Aufklärung!
Face says 17 but skill says 70!
May I ask, after two years, what's the name of the music starting at 8:40? By the way, it looks fabulously!
I don't know. It was part of my editing software at that time (Power Director)
Oh, thank you wery much for that info, I'll look there. By the way, it's nice to see some very good woodworking europeans, not just Americans. Keep up the good work! :)
Looks amazing well done , I need to tu3n a segmented bowl but im a bit scared was it ok to turn :@)
alishas woodworks You have absolutely nothing to fear. The segments were really easy to turn, because you only turn sidegrain. Thank you Marius, and thank you for your honesty, that is very helpful and useful to know.
Hi again Marius. Is it cheap and easy to install a VFD? I couldn't find anything on Google about it. Hopefully you'll do a video on it!!
wo leben Sie im Deutschland?
(I'm dutch, don't judge meine Deutsch xD)
Marius, do you have a video or article about that wooden clamp on your sled?
awldune No, it's not my design. But look here: ua-cam.com/video/vk8FWz2Jp-8/v-deo.html
Marius Hornberger Thanks, Izzy is a clever fellow :)
Was war das für ein Finish?

With that music I feel like the shots of you turning the bowl should be interspersed with shots of you jogging, jumping rope and lifting weights.

Enter www.blocklayer/segments and follow the obviuos results!
You need calculate inside not outside
pubboo No, I could do that too. But the stop block wouldn't work, if I used the inside measurement.
Marius Hornberger if your stop block on angle it's not the problem☺
But I would have to make a angled stop block...
