I started to read the silmarillian and the parallel between this show and Melkor's corruption are staggering. How he wanted to put his own themes into the creation of the world. The way he lied, even to himself at first, about wanting to fulfill Eru's vision for it. He twisted and warped life to his vision so he himself could be called "Lord." All because he squandered his gift for creating and instead filled his heart with hate envy for things beautiful because it was not his.
Congratulations on starting what is- in my opinion- the best of Tolkien’s works. I love the Silmarillion for that exact reason. Melkor and the true nature of evil are covetousness: “I hate this because I didn’t create it and I don’t control it. I will remake it in my image and bend it to my will, or I will destroy it; nothing can exist which does not glorify me! ALL SHALL LOVE ME AND DESPAIR!!” That’s what people who do these rewrites are doing. They lie to themselves and may genuinely believe that they’re trying to make the world a better place. The truth is that they just can’t stand the fact that they aren’t the center of attention and adoration. They will be the object of worship and they will use the works of others to do it… or they will destroy those works and those who will not serve that desire to be worshipped.
Awesome that you recognize this man. What your pointing out here is once of the reasons why Lord of The Rings, and Tolkein's works as a whole, appeal to so many people across so many different cultures and generations. Tolkein's themes aren't anything new. These are themes Humans have been creating stories around since before there was writing. Obviously, as a fan of mythology, Tolkien recognized this particular theme and decided to base his story around it. Now here's some food for thought: If these themes are so integral to the human condition that humans have been sharing them with each other for only God knows for how long, why does it seem like many of us in the modern era are ignorant of them?
@@stephenfitzgerald9769 Melkor originally did not hate what Eru created, he wanted to create things of his own because he was impatient and unwilling to wait for Eru to do so himself. Melkor looked for the flame imperishable in the void, and it was there that he developed his own thoughts separate from Eru and the other Ainur. Eru then gave all the Ainur a musical theme, but Melkor had developed his own thoughts and was more interested in writing his own music. This led to Eru composing two more themes that wove Melkor’s theme into itself. Eru then revealed that no matter how mighty Melkor and his creations were, they would always be used to create things that were better than Melkor imagined, and would only bring glory to Eru. We can see that Melkor never originally coveted anybody’s work. He only wanted his work to be considered equal to Eru’s themes and to be his own master. His ego and unwillingness to serve anyone but himself is symptomatic of pride, not covetousness. He only came to covet the works of others after realizing that none of his works would ever truly be his own, and it would never be for his own glory. In light of those facts, I must disagree with your assertion that Melkor’s greatest sin is covetousness. Pride seems to be the motive power behind his revolt.
ROP trailer: "Speak your truth." Me: "OK. This is a disgraceful corruption of a good and timeless story. You should fire everyone involved in this and start from scratch and actually pay attention to the actual lore."
Yeah that scene of hims almost teary eyed, is not fortunate image of a great warrior! Besides if THAT is supposed to be Finrod Felagund, then I'm horrified by what they've done to him, Finrod was a great warrior someone immensely courageous, for goodness sake he actually died involved in Beren and Luthien quest for Silmaril, in the dungeons of Sauron on Tol Sirion...fighting a Werewolf...with his bare hands and teeth saving life of Beren! The story of Beren adn Luthien is one of hte most fundamental stories of Elder Days, for goodness sake Beren and Luthien names are on the tombstone of Tolkien and his wife Edith! They should thread carefully! Finrod is crucial figure but he was not merely a warrior, he was a philosopher king, intellectual, artist, someone who made friendships and alliances with various peoples, diplomatic and friendly, friend of Men, Dwarves, even the Feanorians, who were delicately speaking not on the good terms with other elves! Finrod was also powerful in use of 'elven magic', obviously his history is only related in Silmarillion to which Amazon has no rights but come on! Don't ruin a legendary character you morons at Amazon!
That's the manliest most courageous heroic male scene we'll get in the hole series. I'm actually yet to see a rugged manly cast member? Apart from the first ever female dwarf.
It began with the forging of the great films. Threads were given by Tolkien, immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings. Rights were granted to Jackson, great miner and craftsman of the mountain of lore. And nine, nine hours were gifted to the race of men, who above all else, desire quality. But they were all of them deceived, for another show was made. In the land of Amazon, in the fires of Mount Prime, the Dark Lord Bezos forged in secret a master flop. And into this show he poured his money, his greed and his will to dominate all film. One show to ruin them all. For into darkness fell Tolkien's star; In Amazon, where no bathrooms breaks are.
Loved it and shat my pant when Sauron said to Galadralor: "I'm speaking my truth, Galadralor. Words are violence, and to achieve equity for all I have to kill everybody who dares mis-gender me." I came immediately and hugged my girlfriend's boyfriend.
"Speak your truth" rather than *the* truth, is layered in its implications, but on its surface I think it was stated to get people to simply to ignore reality. Reality is no longer applicable (for lack of a better word). Rather, the truth you choose is more valid for some reason. It is a subtle "stick it" moment to objectivity in favour of subjectivity. The rest of the lyrics seem to want to encourage accepting what's happening, as in going with the flow, which for any skeptical person is a red flag.
You can tell they never read Tolkien’s foreword to the books where he rages against allegories and obvious political messages. Also don’t say no, what happened to “No means no.”

@@dimitrikemitsky I know. What a horribly missed opportunity. You'd think people interested in diversity would jump at the chance to flesh out the peoples to the east and south that were little more than different flavours of "evil men" serving Sauron. The schemes, intricacies and warring could serve as material for seasons.
@@hugovandyk9918 yup, and cannonically they succeeded, it could have been a great redemption story. Per Tolkien; "Their task was to circumvent Sauron, to bring help to the tribes of Men who rebelled against Sauron... they must have had a very great influence in weakening his [Sauron's] forces in the East, who otherwise alone would have outnumbered the West." And what a story it would have been. These were not the decaying remnants of Numenorean ubermenche, these were natives of Middle Earth, who rebelled *on their own* and then got the help of the Blue Wizards, and basically seem to have waged a mostly successful war/insurrection against pro Melkor/Sauron forces. It could have been a great counterpoint to a storyline of ethereal elves and Numenoreans. It could have been an awesome redemption/underdog story, full of GoT style intrigue and stuff, entirely set in the area that was cannonically written as dark skinned, but studio clearly didn't actually give a shit about diversity outside checking the box.

I'm soooo excited to watch this show ultimately "succeed" in the media's eyes and get "worldwide record viewer numbers and ratings." Amazon simply won't let it fail, which means oblivious people will stay oblivious and we won't see real change for years yet.
Or Amazon will just inflate their own viewer numbers and claim it as a success anyway because they care more about pushing their agenda than making more money. They have enough money to burn.
It won't, the media has been trying it damnest since this show was announced and every trailer is getting downvoted in every country it has been released in. I've never seen such backlash for a show, ever.
When I originally saw this trailer, it was on the Quartering, and I thought it was some edit to avoid copyright. Looked up the original trailer and in the first few seconds said "thank god" because the song doesn't sound modern to start, and then immediately face palmed when I realized it was real.
Even scarier is when people say, "feelings are morality". I have heard several say this, and I think your right, their facts and morality can be medicated away.
_"Speak your truth"_ = Lie _"Don't say no"_ = Comply _"Still your mind"_ = Don't think The cornerstones of communism. Compare that to the 9 noble virtues of the Norse.
Sauron will be woke too. These people identify with villains; they make the villains in their own image. Sauron will be woke, you will eat the boogz, and you will be happy (or else). Galadriel and Sauron will both be woke. One of them will just be doing horrible thigns more often (I'm talking about Galadriel- these people think of the villains as heroes, so when they write heroes, when they make the heroes win, the heroes are villains, just more effective and with irrationally good PR).
Funny how the trailer starts with his empowering "speak your truth!" But then critics of this show get called sexist and racist. So "speak your truth", as long as it makes money for the massive multinational corporation.
When the Hulk turned to the camera grinning "I love it when a plan comes together" and then lifted up his Sword of Power in front of Castle Grayskull, mounting Grimlock to fly towards the Death Star is such an underrated and nuanced scene. Pure mastery from Tolkien himself, perfectly adapted.
Shad what you built here is just awesome. Knights Watch and Shadversity are two of my favorite channels. Look forward to every video. Keep up the hard work.
The whole "your truth" thing is so... unsettling. It implies that there isn't just "the truth" - a fact that is objectively true, it's saying that truth can be individual and interpreted. Which may be true in SOME cases, I suppose... but not all.
These type believe they cast a light on a world in complete darkness. Everything is up for interpretation because all has yet to be discovered. It's with the same hubris of conquerors claiming to have discovered a new land or founded a new nation where others already lived. Every concept and idea must be analysed and critiqued through the prescribed lens, never mind that people outside of their narrow worldview already know and understand what these things are and do. They are pillagers and invaders.
I always have the feeling that the People who say "Objectiv Truth doesn't exist" have misunderstood Kant when he said that we can't preceive objectiv reality objectivly. It's like the took one class of philosophy and then said "well now i'm an expert"
Except it's not Kant, it's basic language. Truth (by definition) is subjective, FACTS are objective, you can say something that is the truth (because you believe it is) even if it is factually false. Indiana Jones literally refers to this in his first film "If you want to discuss truth, philosophy class is down the hall, here we teach facts"
That, and Kant was wrong. They are both shallow _and_ lazy. The logical end point of "we can't perceive objective reality" is "who cares about objective reality".
Well we could argue we don't have pure objectivness, we don't have any superior force granting us that one specific way to look at things is the right one. However we as humans have agreed on a couple of points using science and morality, and therefore have enstablished a line between objective and subjective to some degree. Take as an example the Declaration of Human rights, speaking YOUR truth about it instead of speaking THE truth that's written on it sounds pretty wicked to me.
Okay. That part where Galadriel left one her soldier to die? It's absolute bullshit. First because it's Galadriel. The lady of Lorien who respect and care for all life, even the smallest being, even those elves generally hate (that scenes with Gimli). Hell, I know it's not in the book but in Return of the King there's this one moment where exhausted Frodo stumbles and yet the loving and shining vision of Galadriel gave him the strength to continue. At a times where elves where all living and most no longer having any interest in protecting middle earth. Yet the same person despite all of her magical power let one of her own to die 5 meters away because she needs to move fast? That's absolutely not Galadriel and that's actually make it look like an horrible person. Without any context, casually sacrificing people isn't the mark of a good leader but an awful one. And second because that's an elf. In the various works of Tolkien, because elves live thousand years and rarely reproduce, they're very attached to the preservation of their lives and those of their kins. Letting an elf die means killing centuries of memories and erasing a life that will take about the same time to replace. To any elf that would be a tragedy to avoid at all cost. If any would act like Galadriel in that scene, she would be cursed by her entire race.
No that doesn’t make her a horrible person. It makes her STRONG and full of AGENCY. This is a real woman. Ladies if you don’t do this you’re not a strong woman.
When in the battle against the Dark Lord, Blade turned to Cap proclaiming "I'll be your sword" with Captain America replaying "and I'll be your shield". Before touching weapons together, then hearing Giladriel scream "I'm bring down the hammer!!!" I cried, "true cinema" 😭😭😭
That phrase is so horrible because it basically brings the concept of every villain being the hero of their own story into real life. If everyone is right, and there is no standard, then, thanks to man's inherent sin nature, humanity is just moments away at that point from destroying itself physically. The evil one is laughing his way to the bank as he gets more and more fools like these people to parade themselves to Hell thinking that they're heroes while doing so. Such is what happens when you've had it too good for too long...
The song is Breath by Ex Makina Speak your truth, they already know Search your mind, it's written in gold Don't say no, let it unfold out And we'll take the embrace of steel, it's where I'm found All I know, is an ocean out And the look on your face was here in every sound Still your mind, there's oceans below Raise your sail, and then let go (Eh eh eh eh oh oh oh oh oh) (Uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh) Don't say no, let it unfold out And we'll take the embrace of steel, it's where I'm found All I know, is an ocean out And the look on your face was here in every sound
Thanks for the info. The songs tone and lyrics are wildly inappropriate for Tolkien. Sounds like a bad Enya wanabee. Looking at what else they have written for confirms an underlying propaganda.
Sounds like a fitting theme for a story about a group of characters living in a dystopian modern world (like the one portrayed in Arcane let's say) leading a revolution against a tyrannical governamemt. It surely doesn't fit Tolkien tho. I don't think the song should get hated on, honestly I quite like it, but I hate the fact that it got paired with the best medieval fantasy fictional universe.
Seeing the full song, the embrace of steel make me think of armor, like prepping for war. But this isn't meant to rally for war, because that is first person while everything else is second person. It's literally saying stand down while we wage war in the second verse. And notice the "they already know" is the only third person, probably who war is being waged against. But "they" already know "your truth", sound like it might be implying a justification for the second verse. Maybe I am wrong about the "embrace of steel" though, and I am pegging all the meaning to that. But if I am right, this is the song of revolutionary that will soon be a dictator.
"Your" and "My" convert the term "Truth" from being objective into subjective. So they are suggesting that Sauron is the master of lies? Or did they not realize we know how pathetic the attempt to recode reality is by redefining it based on personal emotion?
Truth IS subjective by definition, did you not watch Indiana Jones? At the very beginning Indie explains the distinction between Facts and Truth. The former need to be objective, the latter is subjective (hence why he says "if you want truth, the philosophy class is down the hall"). Don't get me wrong, I think "speaking your truth" is a really pretentious thing to say, but nonetheless you're factually wrong to say that there's anything objectively wrong with that statement.
@@AeneasGemini Truth: "that which is true or in accordance with fact or reality." -there took me like, five seconds to google. Are you seriously taking definitions of words from action movies?

Heroes stand for THE truth in the midst of lies and evil. Heroes know when to fight and when to show mercy. Think Aragorn with Grima in the Two Towers. Heroes save others. Heroes are cautious of their strengths because they know their weaknesses. If that’s a hero, I don’t know what these characters are!
Aragorn doesn't actually have any weaknesses, if anything Tolkien intentionally wrote him as a flawless hero. He as a growth arc in the films, but not in the books. Also, there is no THE truth, there are FACTS (which are objectively correct) but truth is subjective by definition. You can be telling the truth (if you believe it) and still be factually wrong.
@@AeneasGemini I wouldn't say he is completely perfect, he had his moments of weakness, doubts and at times he showed a bit too much pride that he immediately had to swallow and humble himself a bit (like the whole thing with leaving the sword at doors of Meduseld), he is self conscious and indeed he doubts his decisions at times (I'm talking here entirely about the book), there are moments in the book where we see various aspects of his personality, he also makes mistakes, he is not infallible, even in something as simple as losing the way :). He is definitely a moral person, individual with strong convictions, though he does not judge others for their weakness. Aragorns growth or most of it happens 'offscreen' so to speak in Lotr appendices we hear of his earlier life and how he worked hard to prove himself, obviously Aragorn himself feels in humble way that he is in no way as his great ancestors like Elendil and Isildur (who also had his moments and made mistakes, and his weakness was pride, and he ultimately didn't resist to take the ring for himself and even in Disaster of Gladden Fields where he admits his lack of control over it's power and doubts and plays with idea of passing it away, he still also has moments of fear even thinking o trying to use it's power).
@@fantasywind3923 it's been a very long time since I've read the books, so I could've forgotten some things. I will say though, he is very much the paragon hero in the books, even more so than the films.
The weird thing about this obsession with using modern music in films where it doesn't make sense, is that they even do it when great music from the appropriate time period already exists. Case in point, I couldn't get past the first episode of Peaky Blinders even though I loved the writing and acting, because every time some rap or pop track came in, I lost all of my immersion in a heartbeat. There's tons of great music from the 20s and 30s that would've done the job, and a lot of that is in public domain
The scene where Luke Skywalker teamed up with James Bond and launched the Genesis device at Space Ball One just so he could get a chance at capturing a rare Pikachu colored like the 4rth Doctors scarf in order to stop the Nazi's from acquiring the Stargate located inside the Top Gun Flight Academy really brought a tear to my eye. Truly this is the most accurate interpretation of Tolkiens master work
the sad part is no matter how well this show does on Prime video they will say its the most popular Prime original they have ever made and they wont show any proof of that. I guarantee they are gonna say its their biggest hit to date even if they cancel it.
Finrod, Galadriel's brother, is one of the most beloved characters within the legendarium, and I already resent the dishonorable way they're portraying him. It will probably be a common theme with any of the male characters Tolkien created 😠 As for Galadriel...CB portrayed her with power & dignity; MC is trying to convey power & dignity - but without success. It's just coming across as weak and over-forced. So keep up the good fight, my Knights! Don't let them get away with the blatant lies and gross inconsistencies!

Greetings, Knights! I did a bit of googling and found the lyrics from the trailer. It was made by a British group called Ex Makina. From my understanding, it was made about 5 years ago. The Showrunners/writers and boorish actors lack the talent and imagination to take on the monumental task of living up to the expectations of an audience that has seen LOTR. It won how many Oscars? Eleven, that's right Eleven only two other films have ever done that to date: Ben Hur (1959) and Titanic (1997). That's one of the reasons the Hobbit failed so miserably plus they bloated it beyond all recognition. Their back was up against the wall before they started, them factor in the insane virtue signaling, ignoring source material, attacking the fandom and anyone else that disagrees, Actors making false and misleading claims, fake super fans, etc........ its failure is assured. It's like going from driving a Roll Royce Phantom to a Chevy Vega. It is nothing less than pure hubris on the part of those involved in the creation of this monstrosity.
Elves used to be gigaCHADS in the books, absolute gigaCHADS, one of them solo killed 7 Balrogs, 7! They could kill a hundred orcs and die once thier swords would go dull, they were never this weak crying people even in the most dire situations.
The short clip showing the Durin the Dwarf character turning around looks like he's in a Khazadum police line up. "Dwarf number three turn towards the wall. Now turn back" "That's him, officer, that's the Dwarf that stole my beer!!"
I was arguing objective morality with someone once, and I made the point that it would be wrong to kill someone without justification, just because you feel like it. That's an objective truth, regardless of laws. Their rebuttal was "well if you were a Klingon it would be ok." That's the level of thinking these people act on.
That's a fairly valid counterargument, though. It's not impossible-or even difficult-to imagine a culture like the Klingons where senseless killing is seen as a moral good (I don't watch Star Trek, so forgive me if I get some details wrong), even if one doesn't currently exist on Earth. As the proponent of objective morality, you would need to argue that such a culture is actually logically impossible, or that such a culture would be objectively morally wrong in spite of their belief to the contrary. Those are both very difficult things to do, since the first is seemingly already disproven by our ability to conceive of Klingons, and the second relies on pointing to an objective metaphysical metric that is presumably (and conveniently) known to you but unknown to others. Whether objective morality exists or even could exist is a question that has been pondered and argued by people smarter than you or me for centuries, and there still isn't a widely accepted answer. Flippant dismissal of other viewpoints serves no one and, ironically, casts your own level of thinking in a poor light.
This only works if everyone abides by the same religion. Religion is the science of bringing objectiveness to the subjective. A christian, jew, muslim, hindu, buddist and atheist will all have differences in morality. Some small; some massive. Hell, even in different sects of religions like the various subtypes of Christianity can have varying morality on a massive array of topics. Many pagan vikings felt it necessary to die in battle and in doing so kill as many of the enemy as possible. Aztecs felt human sacrifice was necessary and even good. The Japanese through their bushido code that was tied to the religion of Shinto, felt surrender was cowardly and to be taken prisoner made you less than human. Shinto also promotes the group over the individual which is in direct contradiction to Western (Christian) morality which considers the individual the most vulnerable minority. Islam condones polygamy among many other things that most Christians would consider morally wrong. People assume "goodness" is inherent in people because they take for granted how intertwined Christianity is with Western morality and lifestyle. On the contrary, people are quite malicious. Combine that with the greyness which is life and its easy to see why people don't agree that there's one truth if they don't follow one religion.
First off, truth is subjective by definition, you're thinking of facts (which are objectively correct). You can be telling the truth (if you genuinely believe it) even if it's factually wrong. Furthermore, there is no such thing as something being objectively wrong, we know this because people do in fact kill people just because they feel like it. If it were objectively wrong then they would think it was wrong and thus not do it. The fact that sociopaths CAN kill people without a decent justification means it is NOT objective. The definition of objective is that it's factually correct for everyone, but it clearly isn't for some. Either you don't understand what it means for something to be objectively correct, or you're deluding yourself to feel better about your subjective beliefs.
@@derrickcrowe3888 While I am kind of on your side here, I do believe that objective morality is nonsense, I do think you can flippantly dismiss some viewpoints. Yes, some things are opinion and not fact (subjective and not objective), but if someone wants to believe something that I find nonsensical then I will dismiss it. They can believe what they like, but that doesn't mean that I should too, or even treat their views as being equally valid (especially if they are based on highly dubious information). Be honest, if someone walked up to you and fervently preached that smearing excrement all over your face and giggling like a school girl was the path to a better life, would you sit and seriously consider those beliefs, or would you think they're just crazy? It's nice to think we should respect all viewpoints, but what if my viewpoint is that your viewpoint is nonsense? How can you flippantly dismiss my belief that it's sometimes right to flippantly dismiss people's views? Your philosophy sounds nice, but it's contrary to the way that people (including probably yourself) actually behave in reality.
I really liked when He-Man explained that Melkor is just missunderstood and all the other Valar are evil. That´s why the Power Rangers muss help him to free Melkor. With Melkor freed Thanos snapped all the evil Valar away and then he, Sauron, Lord Z and Skeletor had an Orgy and everybody clapped.
if they got actual writers with talent and clout, the executives wouldnt be able to meddle in the storytelling to the extent that they have. No name writers with barely any writing credits are a lot easier to manipulate.
I honestly dont think the writers know what the hell they are writing!! They just just putting a bunch of words together to make us feel like there is something deep an mysterious going on in the lyrics, when it is just shallow incoherent rambling? It is funny and extremely disappointing that this will bear the lord of the rings name :(
The song is called "Breath" and is by a British band called Ex Makina and it is already 5 years old. Just looked it up and putting it here in case no one else has. I think the part you can't hear is "and we'll take the embrace of steel, it's where I'm found". You can find the full lyrics online.
What has always baffled me is how, despite the recurring success of well written fantasy (far are the days of Hercules and Xena), Hollywood keeps seeing this genre, as well as its fans, as lowbrow and feel the need for it to be "improved" by coked-up third-rate writers. When you see the reverence shown to Tolkien's work by even the most elitist intellectuals, how can Hollywood still think that they can shit all over it and get away with it?
These people don’t seem to understand that we know that this is about more than just our entertainment. I’ll never give up, I’ll never give in. Great video guys. Feel better Shad.
Anyone else think the music in the trailer was Amazon hearing ‘Sins of the Father’ from the ‘Metal Gear Solid V’ trailers and trying to recreate it? Not that into music but I heard similarities in the trailers.

I'll definitely be joining you guys in watching & reviewing the Rings of Power series. Growing up, I'd watch Lord of the Rings as a kid and when I was at School. When the Hobbit released, I was there each release in the cinema. So this is pretty significant to me. I'll post my reviews of each episode on the comment's of your videos. Looking forward to any back and forth. But right now. Just bracing myself for the hailstorm.
I paused the video to go and look up the full song. It's called "Breath" by Ex Makina. In isolation, it's a fun song. And I also found the creator's comment. Seems like they were a little surprised with how it was used, though obviously pleased because that means more money for them. It appears as though Amazon singled out a song from a creator that would fit their narrative AND was so little known that they could just drop some money and do whatever they wanted with the music. And that's what this trailer reminds me of... Little Kuribo's voice over of Seto Kaiba, "Screw the rules! I have money!" Amazon and the Rings of Power showrunners think that if you throw enough green at something that it's bound to succeed, but they forgot all the finer points of telling a good story. Even if it bears Tolkien's name, it won't be even close to his standard of quality.
Given how many trailers and television shows have used this band's music... they must be connected, or they must check off a lot of handy boxes. And I hate to be cynical like that. Holy cats, though. This SAME SONG has been used multiple times in multiple shows and trailers and short films???
I believe in objective and personal realities. Objective reality- is what is absolutely true, and no one can debate it. Personal reality- is the way perceive reality and you should go along with it but pushing it on others is bad.
The only justification I can see to why they included those messages in the lirics is I think to make the world sound dark and defeated and galadriel will be the one to reignite the flame of hope because we always see her clashing with people telling her to let go... And I it hate because the world in this age was'nt grimmdark for fuck sake
That song... The words, the nautical theme... It's the sirens call from the Odyssey, right? It all fits! Don't know what it has to do with LOTR, though.
Here's what I've always said about truth, "There's your truth, there's my truth, then there's the real truth." As soon as The Truth is observed/filtered through someone's experience, it changes. I am in no hurry to watch this at all. I'm sure I will watch it sometime though, out of curiosity to how bad it really turns out to be.
One Age of the Valar is equal to one hundred Valian Years called randa. Before the arising of the Sun they were five thousand Valian Years, or fifty Ages of the Valar. First Age The First Age saw the ascent of the Elves, Dwarves and Men and their wars against Morgoth. It ended with the War of Wrath and the drowning of Beleriand. Morgoth was captured by the Valar, ending centuries of dominion in Beleriand.[1][2] Second Age In the Second Age the Edain prospered in Númenor, but Sauron, a servant of Morgoth also came to dominate the Westlands. The Rings of Power were created as one of such attempts. Sauron's influence also caused the Drowning of Númenor and the Changing of the World. The Age ended with the War of the Last Alliance and the defeat of Sauron.[2][3]Third Age The Third Age saw the gradual fading of the Elves and also the rise of Sauron against the Númenórean kingdoms, until he was defeated during the War of the Ring. The Age ended some years later with the departure of the White Ship from Mithlond.[3][2] Fourth Age The Fourth Age was a time when the Elves faded while Dwarves, Men and Hobbits prospered and recovered after the fall of Sauron, until the Dominion of Men.[2] I am still trying to understand how many years is in ONE AGE ????????
These ages are derived by events. There is no guarantee that they are evenly spaced. Just as there is no guarantee the Neolithic age lasted exactly as long as the Mesolithic or that the Mesolithic lasted as long as the Paleolithic. The third age ended at roughly 3000 years. I don't remember the length of the others.
@@Alex_Fahey There is a forum for that, I looked it up once, but can't remember what it was, I think I search for Tolkien Middle Earth Timeline or something like that.

I really hope this crap bombs. Just so I won't lose more faith in normies. We know that Amazon's going to tout this trash show as success, no matter what the reality is, but it's the principle of the thing.
You should lose all your faith in normies. This will be massively succesful and normies will watch it for one week and then forget about it, and the watch rates will make them greenlight more seasons.
I'm sorry, but the number of people in the world who know and care about Tolkien are vastly outnumbered by those who may know, but don't really care, and those who know nothing at all. There's no reason for us to believe (hope) that this travesty will find so small an audiance that it will be countered a failure. Steel yourselves for family, friends, and colleagues telling you how much they enjoyed RoP not realising the hurt it causes you.
You may be right, but these people might not like it not because it's not faithful to Tolkien, but because they think the stories are boring, they don't like the characters or because the dialogue is atrocious. If the production department is as incompetent as the marketing department, just from an entertainment perspective it may be terrible. Amazon seems to have screwed this up at every level. I don't think the showrunners have enough experience to manage a production of this size. And the producers might be very competent but even competent people can fail.
This hit home.
Congratulations on starting what is- in my opinion- the best of Tolkien’s works. I love the Silmarillion for that exact reason. Melkor and the true nature of evil are covetousness:
“I hate this because I didn’t create it and I don’t control it. I will remake it in my image and bend it to my will, or I will destroy it; nothing can exist which does not glorify me! ALL SHALL LOVE ME AND DESPAIR!!”
That’s what people who do these rewrites are doing.
@@stephenfitzgerald9769
Melkor originally did not hate what Eru created, he wanted to create things of his own because he was impatient and unwilling to wait for Eru to do so himself.
Just like Melkor/Morgoth they will be chained up and thrown through the door of night.

Galadriel wears the armor in this family! This garbage gave me cerebral diarrhea.😆

@@hugovandyk9918 yup, and cannonically they succeeded, it could have been a great redemption story. Per Tolkien;
"Their task was to circumvent Sauron, to bring help to the tribes of Men who rebelled against Sauron... they must have had a very great influence in weakening his [Sauron's] forces in the East, who otherwise alone would have outnumbered the West."
And what a story it would have been. These were not the decaying remnants of Numenorean ubermenche, these were natives of Middle Earth, who rebelled *on their own* and then got the help of the Blue Wizards, and basically seem to have waged a mostly successful war/insurrection against pro Melkor/Sauron forces.

I always have the feeling that the People who say "Objectiv Truth doesn't exist" have misunderstood Kant when he said that we can't preceive objectiv reality objectivly. It's like the took one class of philosophy and then said "well now i'm an expert"
but the no objective truth does not come from Kant, its a postmodern thing
Except it's not Kant, it's basic language. Truth (by definition) is subjective, FACTS are objective, you can say something that is the truth (because you believe it is) even if it is factually false.
Indiana Jones literally refers to this in his first film "If you want to discuss truth, philosophy class is down the hall, here we teach facts"
That, and Kant was wrong. They are both shallow _and_ lazy. The logical end point of "we can't perceive objective reality" is "who cares about objective reality".
@@AeneasGemini I'm really starting to think you're either a total dumbass or a troll
And it’s not like he’d fallen down a hundred foot crevice or something, he’d just slipped over.
Before touching weapons together, then hearing Giladriel scream "I'm bring down the hammer!!!"

'weapons'
And my axe should of been there somewhere
That phrase is so horrible because it basically brings the concept of every villain being the hero of their own story into real life. If everyone is right, and there is no standard, then, thanks to man's inherent sin nature, humanity is just moments away at that point from destroying itself physically.
The evil one is laughing his way to the bank as he gets more and more fools like these people to parade themselves to Hell thinking that they're heroes while doing so. Such is what happens when you've had it too good for too long...

This is the best commentary I've seen on ROP so far. Progressivism collapses on itself like a dying star.
"Your" and "My" convert the term "Truth" from being objective into subjective. So they are suggesting that Sauron is the master of lies? Or did they not realize we know how pathetic the attempt to recode reality is by redefining it based on personal emotion?
Given the trailer doesn't focus on "the lord of gifts," I don't think they were alluding to Sauron, the implication is still horrifying though.

Aragorn doesn't actually have any weaknesses, if anything Tolkien intentionally wrote him as a flawless hero. He as a growth arc in the films, but not in the books.

When I heard about this show for the first time, I had a little hope to see Húrin with his axe shouting Aurë entuluva seventy times! I'm so sad now...
the sad part is no matter how well this show does on Prime video they will say its the most popular Prime original they have ever made and they wont show any proof of that.
They have thrown their money about to get a hold of something that they don't understand at all, supported by people they also don't understand. They sense the sinking ship and are getting desperate now.
All that money they spent into this crap they could have put it into the next season of The Boys
Greetings, Knights! I did a bit of googling and found the lyrics from the trailer. It was made by a British group called Ex Makina. From my understanding, it was made about 5 years ago. I'm not sure if they were commissioned to make it or if it was bought specifically for the show, but I thought I'd share this with you guys since the lyrics is incomprehensible in the trailer!
Edit: The song is called 'Breathe'
Speak your truth, they already know
Search your mind, it’s written in gold
Don’t say no, let it unfold out
And we’ll take the embrace of steel, it’s where I’m found
All I know, is an Ocean out
And the look on your face was here in every sound
Still your mind, there’s oceans below
Raise your sail, and then let go
Don’t say no, let it unfold out
And we’ll take the embrace of steel, it’s where I’m found
All I know, is an Ocean out
And the look on your face was here in every sound
Galadriel & The Tempest of Doom
I loved it when sauron fought rocky and frodol high fived him

"YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!"
Elves used to be gigaCHADS in the books, absolute gigaCHADS, one of them solo killed 7 Balrogs, 7! They could kill a hundred orcs and die once thier swords would go dull, they were never this weak crying people even in the most dire situations.
Remember in She Lobs lair when the Orcs thought Sam was an Elven Prince at first. They were frickin terrified even though deep in their own borders.
Plus they don't really die, they revive at the hall of Mandos, they just can't head back to Middle Earth.
The short clip showing the Durin the Dwarf character turning around looks like he's in a Khazadum police line up.
"Dwarf number three turn towards the wall. Now turn back"
"That's him, officer, that's the Dwarf that stole my beer!!"
I was arguing objective morality with someone once, and I made the point that it would be wrong to kill someone without justification, just because you feel like it. That's an objective truth, regardless of laws.
Their rebuttal was "well if you were a Klingon it would be ok."
That's the level of thinking these people act on.
The klingons had an honor code. You weren't allowed to just kill anybody. Only in combat.
Children running on the screen, music message : "Dont Say NO"... rigth....
Still a better plot than this garbage.
Got the clap.*
Don't say no, steel your mind, just let go. Why do you keep fighting?
Said the involuntary struggle snuggler to the victim.
I swear, Hollywood needs to extend its search beyond the back of the short bus for new writers.
if they got actual writers with talent and clout, the executives wouldnt be able to meddle in the storytelling to the extent that they have.
No name writers with barely any writing credits are a lot easier to manipulate.
You forget that these Agenda are profittable for Amazon.
Even Morgoth did not dare to corrupt and change Arda as Amazon did.
Because Hollywood is packed with lowbrows who think they're the arbiters of taste.
Because they are that out off touch i guess, or maybe that stupid
These people don’t seem to understand that we know that this is about more than just our entertainment. I’ll never give up, I’ll never give in.
Great video guys. Feel better Shad.
I have been banned on few Ring of Powah forums for speaking my truth in a civilised, unoffensive way.
The problem is they consider the concept of disagreement offensive in and of itself.
"Tolerant" progressives turned out to be censorious authoritarian? Say it ain't so!
@@donpietruk1517 that's the problem isn't it... and all by plan
Anyone else think the music in the trailer was Amazon hearing ‘Sins of the Father’ from the ‘Metal Gear Solid V’ trailers and trying to recreate it?
Not that into music but I heard similarities in the trailers.
Found the lyrics for the trailer.. Remember, Sauron is your friend.. 😆

This song reads like pure gibberish.
Morgoth and Sauron combined couldnt destroy Middle-Earth....but then the new, most powerfull dark lord came out of the shadows....his name was Ama-zongth
I love these videos. Shad is amazing.
Just found your channel. I will not be watching RoP, but I am willing to watch reviews of it.
Music in this trailer be like
"Don't ask questions, just consume product and get excited for next product."
"my truth" is the greatest lie ever told.
Objective Truth above all else. There is spiritual and religious belief, but objectivity should not be denied.
I have money!"
Amazon and the Rings of Power showrunners think that if you throw enough green at something that it's bound to succeed, but they forgot all the finer points of telling a good story. Even if it bears Tolkien's name, it won't be even close to his standard of quality.
"Throw enough green" being money *and* greenscreen 😅
Given how many trailers and television shows have used this band's music... they must be connected, or they must check off a lot of handy boxes. And I hate to be cynical like that.
Holy cats, though. This SAME SONG has been used multiple times in multiple shows and trailers and short films???
Love the YuGiOh Abridged refrence 🤣
About as much as the rest of that trash.
Better yet, just watch the episode reviews by Shad and friends so Amazon doesn't use your view as an excuse to think you actually liked/support it.
War is peace
Freedom is slavery
Ignorance is strength
My niece's husky was a better Galadriel than the Amazon version can ever hope to be...
Just speaking my truth... 😈
They've come a long way since Zootopia's "Try Everything" song.
I can't wait for this to be mocked even more when it comes out 😀
The trailer equivalent of “Lie back and think of England.” Just friggin’ delightful.
One Age of the Valar is equal to one hundred Valian Years called randa. Before the arising of the Sun they were five thousand Valian Years, or fifty Ages of the Valar.
First Age
The First Age saw the ascent of the Elves, Dwarves and Men and their wars against Morgoth. It ended with the War of Wrath and the drowning of Beleriand. Morgoth was captured by the Valar, ending centuries of dominion in Beleriand.[1][2]
Second Age
In the Second Age the Edain prospered in Númenor, but Sauron, a servant of Morgoth also came to dominate the Westlands. The Rings of Power were created as one of such attempts. Sauron's influence also caused the Drowning of Númenor and the Changing of the World. The Age ended with the War of the Last Alliance and the defeat of Sauron.[2][3]Third Age
The Third
Age saw the gradual fading of the Elves and also the rise of Sauron against the Númenórean kingdoms, until he was defeated during the War of the Ring. The Age ended some years later with the departure of the White Ship from Mithlond.[3][2]
Fourth Age
The Fourth Age was a time when the Elves faded while Dwarves, Men and Hobbits prospered and recovered after the fall of Sauron, until the Dominion of Men.[2]
I am still trying to understand how many years is in ONE AGE ????????
somewhere around 3,000+ years per age I thought.
Speak your truth as long as it's not the actual truth
I will watch on the second september not rings of power. I will watch Lord of the Rings from Peter Jackson.
AND HERE BROTHER DON`T DIE LIKE A CRYBABY BY "HUNTING THE ENEMY"! He died after his badass fight against a werewolf with only his bare hands.

🎶Speak your truth, be brainwashed🎶😂😂😂
This is a character assassination piece for Galadriel and Elrond.

Yeah just call it "Piss & Vinegar: An Elfs Tale"
@@_Uh_Oh_ I love it 😂
Maybe the "Don't say no" in the theme music was just a clever reference to Better Off Ted's "Don't fight it" in the Great Repression episode.
Perhaps, but I have no knowledge of Tolkien as I stick to sci-fi. But yet I still see through this. There is yet hope.
You may be right, but these people might not like it not because it's not faithful to Tolkien, but because
they think the stories are boring, they don't like the characters or because the dialogue is atrocious. If the production department is as incompetent as the marketing department, just from an entertainment perspective it may be terrible. Amazon seems to have screwed this up at every level. I don't think the showrunners have enough experience to manage a production of this size. And the producers might be very competent but even competent people can fail.
