Don't spend $40US on this kit. If you want good, creamy, homemade icecream, it's simple. It's 1 cup whipped thickened cream, 1 cup of sweetened condensed milk, and mix it all together. If you're using fruit to flavour it, make sure you blend up the fruit and then reduce it down over a stove to make a fruit syrup. Then freeze it, it should be ready the next day. I like to make it with mango or strawberries. The key to not having ice crystals in your ice-cream is to reduce the fruit right down, you want to get rid of all excess water.
This is also amazing if you crush up meringue into it and mix in some lemon curd before freezing (not sure if this is available outside of the UK? It's basically like lemon pie filling but already made and in a jar.) We usually line a metal bowl with wax paper so you can mould it and turn it out on a plate, serving it in slices. It is heavenly.
Oh wait, I forgot to add that you should freeze it in Tupperware or glass container, and before you put the lid on, cover the ice-cream with cling wrap. That also helps prevent ice crystals.

It takes a good half-hour, and you have to be mindful of the salt brine sloshing and getting into your ice cream as you churn, but it's still a fun food-science activity for the kids. I have also seen a variant of this activity done using two zipper freezer bags (ice brine in outer bag, ice cream stuff in inner bag) and kneading the bag stirs the cream and helps it freeze up...but you have to take care that the inner bag is properly zipped and does not burst.)
I love the SaltE crafter lore at the beginning of the videos. Also you can get a better product by using a cake pan and freezing icecream in the freezer for 8 hours.
You can get those cheapo ice cream makers for a quarter of what you paid for the kit. Alternatively, you could buy a nice ice cream maker and some flavorings for that price. Just sayin' :)
I think one of my concerns would be storage. Just because if you do buy this and you do want to use it weekly, your basically going to always have to shuffle your belongs in the freezer around in order to make room. >.
Why using a Plata? o.O When I was little my grandma and I used 2 bowls one bigger than the other, A lot of Ice cubes, Salt, Milk, Cream and Sugar and some Chocolate powder. We put the Milk, Cream, Sugar and Chocolate into the Smaller bowl and mixed it together. Than we put the bowl with the ingredients into the bigger one and filled the Space between the Bowls, all around even under the smaller bowl, with the Ice cubes and the Salt. We put a towl over both Bowls and waited and stirred the Mixture in the smaller bowl from time to time. We had to wait a long time and a lot if stirring the Mixture but in the End we had Ice Cream. Why buying something for such a Experiment for 40$ if you have everything already at home?
Yes! And you can even put the ice cream mixture in a zip lock bag, then put that in a bigger bag which you then fill with ice and salt and then shake shake shake until the ice cream solidifies.
It's a type of ice cream called Thai rolled ice cream. The way it's made is on a cold surface that's usually frozen with the use of TECHNOLOGY. To make it you pour the ice cream base which is probably cooked together and reduced to be more like ice cream once melted. Then you mix in the toppings and roll it in to tubes. It was a fad last yearish and really delicious when done RIGHT
Yup 3/10 How can u even roll an “ice cream” that was made with “milk, cream and sugar” like it wouldn’t even hold it shape I would definitely suggest Craft city should include some packs of ice cream powder maybe that’ll help with rolling it
Abby the wolf I remember making ice cream the same way when I was in the 5th grade. We all made Vanilla, and it was really good! I went to my grandparents house that day and told them all about it, I showed them how to make it as well. I was so happy that day.
To me, this is about the same as just putting a cookie tray into the freezer and making this at home with stuff you already have 🤷🏻♀️ and definitely not a kids product in any way. Not that kids can’t do it, but I don’t know any kids that would WANT to necessarily. I’d much rather do this at home for basically free (aside from the ingredients of course), and let my kids enjoy the aftermath. Which may not even end up as rolls because... well, if you haven’t seen it, Threadbanger did this at home too. Lol
Omg , I was so happy to see you trying to use coconut cream 😄 I don’t eat dairy ( I’m allergic ) and I really appreciate that you thought about other people too 👏🏻👏🏻
Alma DIY I can’t have milk (Cheese is okay for some reason) or soy milk, but have you ever had cashew milk ice cream? It’s amazing and lactose/dairy free :)
it would be really cool if you did a “craft kit correction “ episode for parents who want to try crafts with their kids but dont know where or how to start! a example of this would be making ice cream with zip lock bags!
Ikr my friend has a *REAL* ice cream maker that she got for $35 and it works and has refill packs of flavoring but in the directions it say you can use any flavoring you can find as long as its food safe. So if i find a link I'll add it here but yeah
tips for actual ice cream rolling. you can use any cream. 1. crush up the ingredients being added to the cream 2. act fast try not to hesitate 3. when rolling start from the middle the most important step! just get normal ice cream. rolled ice cream is dry hard and too cold. the lack of air in the ice cream really isnt good.
You know what’s so annoying? Is how they say it’s a KIT but it doesn’t even come with anything besides a spoon a scrape and a spoon! No ingredients or anything no flavor not even SPRINKLES! If I wanted to make something like that then I could pay 15-20 more dollars to get a electronic one that actually works for a long amount of time! Salllllllt you should have put salt in the ice cream 🍦😂❤️have a great day😂😂😂❤️
Right?! It should have two or three little bags of cute sprinkles and like three little bottles of flavoring, like vanilla, mint, and something interesting... like cotton candy or bubblegum! And maybe some little bottles of coloring. This is not a kit, it's just an item thing.

It takes a good half-hour, and you have to be mindful of the salt brine sloshing and getting into your ice cream as you churn, but it's still a fun food-science activity for the kids. I have also seen a variant of this activity done using two zipper freezer bags (ice brine in outer bag, ice cream stuff in inner bag) and kneading the bag stirs the cream and helps it freeze up...but you have to take care that the inner bag is properly zipped and does not burst.)
...........wow just 😯 😂
I love the SaltE crafter lore at the beginning of the videos. Also you can get a better product by using a cake pan and freezing icecream in the freezer for 8 hours.
I love cotton candy ice cream 🧂🧂🧂 and of course I love salty icecream
So I could have stuck a 5$ cookie sheet in the freezer....
AND you could even get better results
You can get those cheapo ice cream makers for a quarter of what you paid for the kit. Alternatively, you could buy a nice ice cream maker and some flavorings for that price. Just sayin' :)
My favorite ice cream flavor is Mint Chocolate Chip

:D
Agreed.
OHHH YES
Lemon is really good too.

I haven’t had enough salt today thank you 🙏🏼
I think one of my concerns would be storage. Just because if you do buy this and you do want to use it weekly, your basically going to always have to shuffle your belongs in the freezer around in order to make room. >.
There are definitely way better alternatives for making real ice cream
Jackie- you have snow outside... Put it outside overnight! I live in North Dakota and we used garages and patios as freezers all winter long!
Ayyy north Dakota twins
@@CuteRuth Oh never tried that, my Grandma and I made it as she was used to do it, she did it together with her mother.
It was a fad last yearish and really delicious when done RIGHT
Blondie Sundae I tried rolled ice cream at a place called Rollos. It was delicious!! ♥️

How can u even roll an “ice cream” that was made with “milk, cream and sugar” like it wouldn’t even hold it shape I would definitely suggest Craft city should include some packs of ice cream powder maybe that’ll help with rolling it
i have made ice cream for about 5$ with my mother and it took about 10 min

i have never made ice cream before but i would love to
@Jai 0 we used zip lock bags but i think its a similar process

Lol
How to keep it cold. Do it outside in the snow.

Alma DIY I can’t have milk (Cheese is okay for some reason) or soy milk, but have you ever had cashew milk ice cream? It’s amazing and lactose/dairy free :)
Lactaid milk is a good choice and there are lactose free ice creams
"Craft City belives" - I lost it right there. 😂😂😂 They can't spell 'believe' and they're a company?!
Shyan Marie she didnt see it xP
Shyan Marie They’re probably made in China or some other foreign country, they’re not going to get English completely correct.
it would be really cool if you did a “craft kit correction “ episode for parents who want to try crafts with their kids but dont know where or how to start! a example of this would be making ice cream with zip lock bags!

40$?! There're *actual* ice cream machines out there for almost the same prize (give or take a few) 😨😨 What in the world?
D0MiN0 I got a Dairy Queen ice cream maker 5-7 years ago. I don’t remember how well it worked.
Ikr my friend has a *REAL* ice cream maker that she got for $35 and it works and has refill packs of flavoring but in the directions it say you can use any flavoring you can find as long as its food safe. So if i find a link I'll add it here but yeah
For me at target I got it for 20 and it doesn’t work
Its easier to just freeze milk

tips for actual ice cream rolling. you can use any cream.
1. crush up the ingredients being added to the cream
2. act fast try not to hesitate
3. when rolling start from the middle
the most important step! just get normal ice cream. rolled ice cream is dry hard and too cold. the lack of air in the ice cream really isnt good.
BRRR.... frozen salt

Salllllllt you should have put salt in the ice cream 🍦😂❤️have a great day😂😂😂❤️
I agree. This doesn't deserve the name Kit
aayla borgman exactly!
Right?! It should have two or three little bags of cute sprinkles and like three little bottles of flavoring, like vanilla, mint, and something interesting... like cotton candy or bubblegum! And maybe some little bottles of coloring. This is not a kit, it's just an item thing.
No offense, but I actually disagree. It should have included dried fruit, cause people want to be healthy.
@@gabriellel1118 its to make ice cream. Not healthy.
I kind of get it didn't include sprinkles though. Cause experation dates.
I was going to get this for my friend and looked at some reviews now I have decided that I better not.

There is an easy way to do this our salt queen!
You have to go online and find a home made ice cream recipe. Then you make the ice cream. Done!
This was on Pinterest before she even released the kit. Rolled ice cream started becoming a trend on Instagram so people made DIY versions using baking pans and spatulas on Pinterest. She’s literally just selling a glorified cake pan and plastic spatulas do not waste your money on this, not worth it
When those street vendors do those ice cream roll things, I would consider that art. This kit, I would consider trash

Definition of machine: an apparatus using or applying mechanical power or having several parts, each with a definite function and together performing a particular task.
This.. was no machine.. it was an aluminum plate and 2 plastic spatulas. Which u can buy for less than $5. Or spend the $40 on a slab of marble.. same function with personal color choice. And it can double as a cutting board. There ya go, 2 for one.
Or you could just spend the money buying the electric cold plates, and make WAY more ice cream that's way better lol
10:26 To be honest, I think food is art. I bake all sorts of pastries from cookies to cakes and its a art of transformation. Also its chemical reactions but that's just my geek part showing. But in a realness(es) its amazing to see what food turns into like a raw egg to a scrambled egg or dough to bread. I feel like any chef would say that it is. It's just a grain's point of view but that's all. ok bye, you're probably not gonna see this but Its just my opinion. ok nowI'm gonna watch more reviews

I agree with your score especially considering the price and it takes up a lot of freezer room. No mom is going to let you keep it in the freezer all the time. You have to plan way ahead if you want to play with it.
