Thanks for putting this out, I got mine shipped without any instructions, didn't expect that the IN plug would go into MIDI OUT and vice versa. Got it sort of working on my setup!
I'm afraid given my experience with this and the experience of most of the people who have left comments, the instructions should read "Do not buy. Do not use!". Glad to hear you got yours working.
I've purchased a wireless MIDI dongle from Lekato that appears as USB Audio in Windows device manager. It works great, on that one the MIDI OUT connector goes to the output of my MIDI source. The other dongles follow the opposite convention of MIDI OUT to MIDI IN.
I bought the same one. It did not work. Ended up buying the one made by Roland and it works great. I came in old packaging with a Windows Vist compatible sticker on it, but it still worked on my 2017 iMac and Roland Fantom G6
I bought 2 of these cheap cables from different sellers, and both had the same problem where they would glitch and do crazy pitch bends and hanging notes. I wish I could find my old m audio one I had about 20 years ago.... Think I'm going to get the Roland or Yamaha cable
of the two I had, one I recently ordered was the newer one, didn't work at all, the older style one (with a treble clef logo on it) fared better, but still didnt recognise my MIDI Keyboard at all. you're better off buying a UR22 or something that has MIDI / Audio with proper drivers. the problem is in the circuit/embedded software, which is poorly designed.
I wish I could put a big sign up somewhere saying "Don't buy one of these". I took mine apart (see "Chinese Junk" video) and found they have no opto-isolator on the MIDI input which they should have as per the MIDI spec - especially connecting to a computer. I bought an M-Audio UNO which has worked perfectly.
@@TripplikitElectronics the newer ones on Amazon are MIDI Class Compliant.. FORE MIDI USB cables the ones with the red led and blue to indicate MIDI data being sent. Mine didnt worked, now i switched the two wires of the d- and g, now the board recognizes keystrokes by blinking but no midi software gets any signals from it
Thanks for calling out this pile of junk. I bought one and it wasted a good few hours of my time as i wasn't sure what the weakest link was in my admittedly chaotic setup.
Some Consumer advice when purchasing anything electronical, if the price is dirt cheap chances are the product itself is also dirt cheap. So just purchase and high quality cable, for example if your instrument is made by Roland, Yamaha, or Casio or whatever brand name it is just purchase the midi cable made by that same manufacturing company of your instrument. You'll have to spend some money but it's guaranteed to work and it will last you a long time. ITS WORTH IT, So it will be money well spent.
Absolutely. If you look at the "Chinese Junk" video I did shortly after this one, I tore it apart and found it didn't even meet the MIDI spec as it had no opto isolator on the input. You'll be pleased to hear I replaced it with one from M-AUDIO.
I guess I got lucky as I have one of these and it works fine. Sometimes it stops for some reason but if you unplug the USB and replug it it's fine. For what it cost I'm happy with it.
I've had quite a few comments on this video saying how poor this unit is. You're the first person I've heard of who's actually had any success with it.
I was about to give up trying to get mine to work and I tried that old favourite, try different USB ports, I got mine working using a USB 3.0 port of all things! I'm also lucky to be using a workstation with a ton of ports to choose from. Hope this can help someone else.
Going by the comments I've had in this video, less than 50% of people who've bought these have got them working. Most of those have got it working found it unreliable. Best off spending the money on a good MIDI interface from a known brand.
I have two USB dongles that look like yours. One appears in device manager as USB Audio Device and has a red LED for IN, it works fine. The second matches yours for LEDs (green IN) and also is recognized by both Windows and Linux as USB20MIDI device. Linux shows it has a CH340 serial interface chip. DAWs try to work with it and it just does not function. I am finding forums describing it as a problem.
These MIDI interfaces are badly designed and badly made - I'm not surprised you're having trouble with them. I suggest you save yourself a lot of trouble and buy an interface from a good brand. I went with M-Audio.
@@TripplikitElectronics Update: I purchased two more dongles from a company called Lenkato. The wireless one is great! It shows in Windows and Linux as USB Audio device. The second is wired and it shows as USB20MIDI or CH345. It works on Chrome but not Linux and Windows.
On retesting I find some of the dongles that fail to work with Windows do work with Linux or Chrome. The cheap one, like yours, consistently fails. @@TripplikitElectronics

Midi converters of higher quality are rarer and rather expensive in my country so I got this one last year but I started to use it about a month ago. It works both on windows and android. Works better on Android with minimal latency. On windows the latency is very noticeable. I would guess it is a driver issue or something

I just ordered one of these as all other midi cables are not in stock in Australia currently... Covid shortage... seriously, I tried all the stores, no Roland, no IK, no M-Audio... but only this cable $11 from an electronics shop.
I would keep on the lookout for an M-Audio (which is what I ended up getting) etc as these really are poot. I took mine appart (see "Made In China" video) and it doesn't even have an opto isolator in it - real no no for MIDI.
Just bought one of these. Doesn't work with my Roland XV-88. It outputs only one note at a time and freezes when I try to play more than one note at once. I tested it with the Boss DR-770 and it seems to work as long as I stick to playing drums (in Ableton's drum racks). CANNOT RECOMMEND.
I've had lots of comments from people like you who couldn't get it to work and only one comment from someone who said it worked OK for them.
