- Operation Market Garden is an iconic battle which has been depicted in film in numerous occasions. It was the eventual halt of the Allied march and its failure gave the Germans crucial time to reinforce their defense and prolong the war.

The 26th of September is an important date, as it is the day Operation Market Garden concluded and officially failed its objective. Rest in peace the heroic forces who fought in this battle and in the entirety of WW2.
PS: Currently working on a video about the Spillover of the Syrian war. I will probably publish it after the defeat of ISIS in Hajin.
>defeat of ISIS in Hajin
Good joke.
Koopinator
They already made some small progress. But that its going to be a long battle, I agree with you.
Lyria Mapping dat kan nog maanden duren
They won! Are you done yet?
I was originally going to use a video from NY mapper, but when it comes out, can I use it as a source for my video about the military campaign against ISIL?
Something interesting that doesn't get discussed is that the allies were still able to capture and hold a large salient into German occupied Nederlands at a rapid pace. Usually Market Garden is farmed in the terms of "paratroopers failed, they were captured, status quo casus belli."
Do you mean status quo ante bellum? But yeah you make a good point
Great video, I love ur mapping style
Can you make a video on the Syrian war part 2...?
Great job!
Why is Lyria mapping not uploading for a year? Pls tell me
I have no idea, I think he quit. His mapping was really good, sad he suddenly stopped.
@@L.A.ismyname yeah
Nice job!
how do i find the source of this video? i cant seem to find the landing places myself
Where are the Polish soldiers? A memorial near Arnhem reads: To the People of Gelderland; 50 years ago British and Polish Airborne soldiers fought here against overwhelming odds to open the way into Germany and bring the war to an early end.
Browning and Montgomery made scapegoats of Polish general Sosabowski, whose input had actually been ignored, and the Poles. The poor coordination by the British air transfer officers and persistent attacks by Luftwaffe aircraft caused their supplies to be dropped 15 km away on the opposite side of the Rhine. They did not have heavy equipment against tanks. It was a massacre
They show that in the movie A Bridge To Far
It was Browning who scapegoated the Poles. In Sosabowski’s memoir there is a copy of a letter he sent to Browning questioning why Browning had said their profession relationship wasn’t what it should of been as Sosabowski thought it was ok.
The airborne drops were planned primarily by the officers of the 1st Allied Airborne Army who were all American Air Corps officers. They decided the drop and landing zones based on the pre planning done for Operation Comet but also on where they thought the German Flak was, as they were very Flak overse. It was them that decided there were 3 lifts over 3 days and that the Coup de Main assaults of Operation Comet were to be cancelled, not the British.
anyone know what software is this?
Nice
Cool music
please come back
Cool video, i think the only mistake i can spot is the fact that the ‘Bommelerwaard’ is in blue (between Maas and Waal rivers) even though it wasnt liberated until May 1945
Yeah, it also got flooded at some point. One source I found said that was in the hands of the Allies late september 1944, but I was already unsure as it gets very vague there where the frontline was exactly.
Afaik there was a small raid in January 1945 in the Bommelerwaard to determine German strenght, followed by a Allied attack consisting out of British Marines and the Dutch Irenebrigade in late April 1945. However the Germans managed to win the battle within days and reoccupied the taken land
Market Garden failed due to hubris. The Allies really thought the Germans were beaten - overconfidence, and everything going wrong that could go wrong. Coup de Main attacks to take the bridges - like with Pegasus, were ruled out as too risky. Landing in the built up areas, too risky. Having two SS Panzer Divisions deciding to R&R at Arnhem between planning and execution was a massive oops. Biggest single point of failure - not taking Nijmegen bridge while it was virtually unguarded all day, and only trying in the late evening, and being beaten by to it by an SS Panzer battlegroup coming down from Arnhem. That 2 day delay to cross Nijmegen, loss of the south end of Arnhem on the evening of the 4th day and Panzer battlegroups blocking the way... all over.
You've used GIS SOFTWARE to make a better information , great ❤️
I wonder what happened to this guy.
Me too.
are you dutch?
Even though the operation was a failure, the allies still held the ground they captured right?
Only 3/4 of it, the last city Arnhem and bridge on the Rhine was lost
@@KaisTheFireWarrior that’s true.
post more please
New Syrian Civil War, please
Also known as MONTY'S EPIC FAIL
It might be known as Monty’s Epic Fail but that’s wrong. It should be known as Brereton and Gavins Epic Fail as they were the ones that screwed it up.
Hi Lyria
Instead of France put Poland on The map
