    Yes the system is flooded with misinformation about epilepsy treatment,to be honest sometimes people are uncomfortable with the fact that epileptics can be intelligent and practical 😊

    I heard it from you, DrD., that Keppra and Prozac are not a great combo. One month ago, emergency Dr prescribed Keppra after 3rd seizure. Prozac prescribed 2yrs ago. What if Prozac causes the seizure? Neurologist does not agree the combo is a bad one for me. How do I respectfully say I want reconsideration to my doctors? I like them and need their supports. Thank you for all the goods.
    Temporal Lobe Epilepsy diagnosed July 2023. I understand the confusion now.

    Thank you doctor for the videos, keep them coming! I have a question, is it okay to prescribe or for the patient to take as many as four different medications in combination therapy for focal seizures? Or is it too much?

    Dr how to stimulate the epilepsy patients to prevent collapse of lungs and heart ,when there is status epilepticus greater than 15 minutes? Kindly give your valuable thought???

    • @DrOmarDanoun
      @DrOmarDanoun  Рік тому

      These are two different things.. In status epilepticus you need to give rescue treatment and go to the hospital. Stimulation is just physical movement and talking

    • @eballin45
      @eballin45 Рік тому

      You need a rescue medicine... Nayzilam is an easy nasal spray like flonase 👍 or the ol typical Ativan..15 minutes 😳

    Thank you Dr Danoun for making my LO feel so comfortable! You were the first out of 5 neurologist to get my loved one to listen to the recommendation about VNS after years of refusing to even discuss it!

    Could you do a video about epilepsy in children. Specifically about what 2 years without seizure activity means? What if they feel lightheaded and act strange for 5 seconds? Are we only counting things that are definitely a seizure or anything that might have been? Let’s say if a child had complex focal into tonic clonic seizures and why they were diagnosed + EEG. Is two years without a definite/clear seizure that parents should speak to the neurologist about trying another EEG and weaning if everything looks good? What about if another seizure happens, but it’s provoked through illness, or lack of sleep, or missed dose? Restart the 2 years? Appreciate seeing your general thoughts on this complicated topic!

      These things are case by case basis. You need to follow up with your neurologist

    Hello Dr Omar, patients like me and everyone else with epilepsy need support when it comes to employment and ways of living. How do we continue working and not being discriminated against when we have a condition only. It is not a disease such as e.g HIV or Cancer it is a condition that can be looked after in many ways.
    I find even when I attend support group meetings we don’t have enough support to keep us in the employment field . I’ve worked over 20 yrs and studied at Uni whilst working and also driving , I’ve lost all this because of my epilepsy. My doctor isn’t sure why , I do have catamenial type epilepsy so it could be I’m going into menopause and the seizures becoming worse I don’t know 🤷‍♀️
    I’d like to not be discriminated because if my condition , condition only but a disease or STD or cancer etc we are still able to continue living normally if we have this condition under control and maintain it under control for so long etc .
    Please share your thoughts? Thank you 🙏

      I actually am in the same situation where I randomly developed epilepsy at 25 out of nowhere. The doctors didn’t know what it was from and for about three years my trigger and type of epilepsy was a big question mark. Until I got myself off of medication and was able to keep a seizure log and found out I too have catamential epilepsy and was only able to find this out by doing my own research after finding that they would come around my period time. Jobs have been extremely hard to keep I’ve even had jobs that keep me on the schedule, but don’t give me work so they don’t have to deal with having fired an epileptic for seizures. Also, I found that I have applied for Disability three different times and been denied and told that epilepsy is not a disability that qualifies to be helped with disability???

      Unfortunately I am in Australia 🇦🇺, I am Indigenous and yes there is support in so many ways but like I said I’ve lost every entitlement like employment, driving and even my social life in so many ways . Unfortunately it’s sad I had to leave work specifically because if my condition and I also had two other friend with epilepsy lose their jobs recently from their condition as well . I think worldwide we need support in many ways because I think it’s going to become worse for anybody with a medical condition

      @@cjaynesxoxo69 hi Jayne , I had no choice but for my doctor to put me on Disability pension because I would be dismissed after each job I had a total of 3 jobs I had in the space of 5 yrs . I did t want to go on disability because I’m not disabled , I am quite capable of living and working normal everyday .
