Just bought the 6D Mark II and I Love it! I upgraded from 40D (about time) and what a difference! Love the contrast, focusing and obviously touch screen! I'm thinking of my first L lens and most likely it will be 135 f2. I get all your negative comments but for a regular guy that is having fun with it, it's awesome!!! This camera has more futures than I can read about and touch screen menu is amazing! Thanks for honest opinion, love your shows! Always a interesting info!!!
@@zack_isaak5894 bad. Get a GH5 or a G9 or a BMPCC instead. The only thing that the 6d II has is the dpaf, but the quality of the video isn't great at all
Just got mine and I'm loving it. The dynamic range is a little lower in your low ISO range, but increases in your higher ISOs. I think people really make a way bigger deal out of it than it is. It has better dynamic range than the old crop sensor I came from - at ISO 800+ it's dynamic range is right up there with the D750 and Sony a7ii but with canon color rendition. I mean it just seems like such an avoidable issue that I don't even get why all the fuss has been made. The AF coverage isn't great, but I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of zone AF either way unless I'm shooting some sort of action. What makes this camera great is it's functionality. You get great resolution. You get great weather sealing and battery life. You get just awesome features like a tilt touchscreen, wifi, and gps that just make life easier. You have all the great ergonomics and buttons of a higher end camera that let you change darn near any setting you can imagine without taking your eye from the viewfinder. This is a great workhorse camera for what your average prosumer level photographer needs. At $1300 right now, it's a pretty good bargain, and I'm actually glad for all of the negative hype that drove the price now, because I was able to snatch one up plus a used 70-200mm f/4 L IS for under the price of a 5dmk4 body. I've seen people take award winning photos with iphone 4s, so I really don't believe in 'bad' cameras. There's just finding the right camera for you and then it's on you to push it to its limits.
Keep watching Canon 6d mark II reviews, but still i think that it is the camera i would buy. A little lower image quality doesn't make it a bad camera. As atony says, only iq nerds would notice it. Since i take picture, if i had to delete all pictures that are not perfect af 100% crop, i would end up with zero pictures. My priority is usability and functionalities, and for that Canon 6dmkII delivers.
I have a 6D, and recently purchased a 6D MkII body to have a spare for an upcoming long trip. I don't need the 4K video, as I have a 4K camcorder. The main selling points for me were the GPS, the built in 4K time lapse, and the flippy screen.
8:04 I'm sorry Tony but this is total BS. Canon has the most user friendly and most widely supported photographic ecosystem ever, it's going to take Sony DECADES to catch up, and Nikon has never kept up even after decades of trying (e.g. Touch Screen support and Snap Bridge). Camera bodies come and go but between the customer support and the best selection of lenses you will ever see, Canon has the best system. Waiting for the 6D3 is still a reasonable option, or just get an SL2 for now and enjoy using a smaller system for a few years. If you're pro, the 5D4 is still fully competitive with Sony and Nikon in every aspect (ok not 4K shooting, if you want to shoot 4K just get a real video body. Though rumor has it the 7D3 is coming next year and that's supposed to make big improvements. Again, bodies come and go, lenses are forever.).
Bud The Cyborg you’re so right. And also Sony lenses are very expensive, you can get many second hand lenses for Canon for a very good price, with Sony you’re not gonna find that.
I agree I have the 6D mrk 2 and have taken great pictures with it, being my first semi pro camera which I saved hard for, I'm not going to just get rid of it because of a minor DR problem, can always be fixed in photoshop and it's how well you can take good pictures. Pulling out shadows is not always necessary if you nail the exposure right any way. This camera gives me good 16 x 20 inch prints at iso 320 and iso 400 - which I think look as good as what I shot on my RZ67 years ago. Nothing wrong with the Canon 6D mark 2.
i'm using 6d mark ll and i'm happy with this camera ,, i like your reviews but this time i'll not agree with you .. iso and focusing system in this body is awesome ..
I can not thank you enough for being honest in this review. As a 2 decade canon user I have given up on them myself. I'm deciding to go with nikon d850 but waiting to see what sony will bring next. Thank you!
GPS, wireless, bluetooth, time lapse recording, Digic 7 processor, higher resolution, dual pixel focusing system for video and touch and flipping screen... the Canon 5D Mark III has nothing of them! And still asking what is new?.
I think someone slammed the camera and everyone else jumped on the hype train. It's a great camera for its price bracket - yeah Canon could have given us 4k video, but it is what it is. You're getting an outstanding introduction to full frame that will allow you to take pro-grade photos as long as you have the talent to produce them.
@@notme1998 you're right - the video is pretty mediocre. With my 70-200 f/4L IS and the camera shake reduction - handheld shots are shockingly steady with the power of dual pixel AF and tracking, but you're getting pretty blah overall video quality and sharpness. If your emphasis is video (which mine isn't), I'd probably go for something in the sony lineup or shell out the cash for the 5dmkIV.
Want a pro Canon camera? Buy a M3 or M4 and if you have a big budget get a 1DXM2 and stop crying about the 6DM2!!! Is an entry level full frame camera, don't expect to be the best of all.
You just confirmed that I will be keeping my 80D. Frankly if I did not have so much tied up in Canon glass I would probably switch to a Nikon. The smaller mirriorless cameras are for me a misery. I wear a size 26 wedding ring to give you an idea how big my hands are. When I bought the 80D I bought the battery grip to make the camera bigger. The added bonus to the battery grip is that it drives the bigger lenses much better.
The grip improves the balance and holdability, especially for us big-handed folks. The camera and lens will behave exactly the same technically, with the exception of having the option to use two batteries for twice the battery life. (Nikon grips often offer an fps boost when both batteries are used, but Canon's do not.). Many find using a grip when large lenses are mounted to make the whole combination more controllable because of the markedly improved holdability and balance. It makes a bigger difference than I expected before I tried it. Also, the grip provides alternate buttons for portrait mode, and if you do much shooting in portrait mode, especially with anything but small, light lenses, you will absolutely be better off with a grip. That said, 95% of time my grip stays at home -- I really only pull it out for dedicated portrait work these days.
AcidTripwire yes, Canon brand grip. The dual batteries actually help with power to drive the bigger lenses. Will it work with off brand I can't say, but I would think so as long as you are using good batteries.
scarmenl Interesting! I have a Meike brand grip for my 70D that works perfectly, but I only have one battery, so I just use it for the improved ergonomics. You learn something new every day...
Tony, this review was awesome ‼️ 👍 Very good sense of humor, you fairly put forward the advantages of the camera but are not afraid to speak your mind and provide us with a clear cut opinion when the camera also sucks. This one was one of the best review ever. Thanks !
A bit disappointing from Canon. I have an original 6D and was hoping to upgrade. With 6 EF good full-frame lenses, 3 flashes and other Canon specific equipment it's hard to move to another ecosystem.
manish arora I have the original 6D. Frankly, the only reason why I'm considering a new body is the autofocus system. If you're fine with only center point & recomposing your shots, no problem. But if you have to shoot some action or need a wider spread of focus points, it's not good. Everything else - IQ, DR, ISO performance etc. I find really good and does everything I need it to do.
Remember that Metabones makes an adapter for Canon EF lenses to Sony E-mount bodies. The autofocus may be more sluggish than on native Sony lenses, and there are some features like Eye-Autofocus that will not work with the Canon lenses, but on the other hand, I don't think Canon has Eye-AF anyway. Basically, if you are a pro shooting fast motion (which you probably don't do much of, as the 6D is not great at that to begin with), you may have a problem switching, but in pretty much all other circumstances, you can just move to Sony mirrorless using a Metabones adapter for your Canon lenses. ...Or stick with Canon if you like, but I just bring this up because you say that it's "hard to move to another ecosystem", so I just wanted to point this out so you can make up your own mind based on these facts. (Oh yeah, you will need one of Sony's most recent mirrorless cameras (A7II, A7rII - not A7sII - or a later model) if you want decent autofocus with Canon lenses.
I upgraded from the original 6D to the 6D2. Honestly, the specs could be better, but I'm glad I did it. I have EF lenses that are crucial to my work that neither Sony or Nikon have replacements for. I think with these reviews the connotation is so negative that you get this feeling of "wow, if I buy this camera suddenly all my pictures will look like shit." That's not the case. I even rented a 5D4 and did a portrait shoot with both cameras, and I certainly didn't feel like there was a massive, glaring difference in image quality. As long as my exposures were correct there was no perceivable difference, and I actually enjoyed shooting with the 6D2 more because of the flip out screen.
I know you probably get this question all the tine but.... we are looking to upgrade our camera and we use our photos mostly on social media, don’t care about video capabilities just want a good camera for product photography. I currently use a 60D with 30mm lens as my go to and also have the Sony RX10 iii both take great pics but the canon is in need of an upgrade as wireless is a must. I will only be shooting jpeg mostly with a flash and will upload and edit on my iPad Pro (streamlined quick processing is a must) thanks in advance for the response!
My problem is that I love canon's L lenses. I'm a wildlife photographer and according to Tony, Canon has the edge with the zoom lenses. Highly frustrated with Canon for not keeping up with Nikon's bodies. D850...
People just don't understand the Canon vision. You're supposed to buy a 6DII, a 5DIV an 80D, an M5, a G3X, a IDX, some lenses for each of those where applicable. If you just embrace that simple philosophy you'll have the perfect camera for any use. Oh and a C200, you'll need one of those too.
Lol great review. I'm one of the few nerds who upgraded from the 6D. Autofocus and flipscreen were worth the trade off in dynamic range (of which I was completely unaware until I read all the initial reviews)
I agree to an extent I've been trying to get rid of Canon but their colors are just so amazing and that dual pixel autofocus is just saved me so much work I mean I don't even need to color grade sometimes the colors are just that amazing and all I've got to do is just a little bit contrast and look sexy
"Most photographers in the real world just shoot JPEG" ...What?! I'm really starting to think Tony just makes statements like that to trigger people in the comments lol
Out of all my friends using dslr, most shoot jpeg. I think when he says "real world photographers", he just means people with cameras. I think he is right.
I have been waiting for the 6d Mark II, and has been very disappointed. Therefore I am now changed to the Panasonic GH5. With the metabones speedbooster, this is the optimal solution for all my Prime canon lenses. A good step forward for me.
Nice style. I still remember Tony was pretty “shy”(not super nature like in this video) in front of the camera, like 4 yrs ago, when I first started following you guys. Happy to see you are reaching your 1sr million subs! Keep it up!
Tony thanks for the love we appreciate the effort you put in, and even tho this is a dog of a camera we still watched the full video, found you entertaining and returned the love.. cheers 🍷🍸🍺
I love what you do, most of all because as a big UA-cam channel, you can direct large numbers of people to the camera that is most suitable for them. If it turns out that non-canon cameras are better suited for people and they actually are convinced to buy them instead of the canon, canon might start giving customers more for their money!
Thank you Tony for an honest review. Many of us anxiously wait your reviews, tutorials because you always give us the real deal. I've been a loyal Canon 80D, 7D, 6D shooter (10 years) with lots of good, canon glass. I've been waiting for this camera since the rumors were released and It's another disappointment. If I'm going to put down my hard earned money on a body, I want a manufacture that is innovating the future of photography. Canon is no longer a leader in innovation when it comes to photography. Maybe in printers and copiers. Good bye Canon, hello Sony. Now the dilemma is the A7RII or wait for the A7III line up?
C Sanchez I was In the same boat saving my money for the mk4 and i was thoroughly not impressed not because of the lack of video features as so many harp on about, but the photography aspect, with no 5 axis, focus peaking, tilt screen, evf, and so many other things at such an overprice.. so I bought the Sony a7ii, Sigmas 50 art with the mc11 adapter for the same price as the lens alone, battery grip, extra batteries, and a godox flash system with 4 speedlights, 2 triggers and a strobe that work across.both systems for the same price as the mk4. I just recently after being so happy, bought the a7rii, sure there is some quirks with longer focal lengths in low light but with focus peaking I never lose a shot, and is only a second slower at the worst of times. if you are on Sony native glass that adapted lens difference disappears. But I am comfortable enough to go adapted for a couple of years, sometimes it's faster than some slower af's anyways. I have one canon body left the mk3 and it's days are numbered.. the recent releases by Canon just affirm my decision to switch over.. thank you Canon for no regrets keep doing what you do...
Also in the same boat. I've decided to wait a few months for the A7 iii. After getting used to Canon touchscreens, I don't think I could go back. So useful for video focus and pinch / zoom / swipe. A7 iii should be an awesome camera.
A7iii seems like the full frame to wait for. Irony, I can't justify the FF body on a hobby basis yet, so T7i is probably my next body. Coming from an SL1, that should be nice. Shame is that glass. It's hard to get excited about putting FF glass, even reputable 3rd party, on my little camera.
Canon has become a master of Dumbing Down new camera releases....They dumb down within their range totally ignoring competition. I sold all my canon cameras and am holding on to my L lens collection with a 7D Mkii hoping Canon will wake up, giving up hope at this time... About to give up and get rid of everything Canon...The arrogance of Canon is getting to me, can you tell!
I went from a 70D to the 6D MK II and I am thrilled!! I have a lot of money invested in Glass and I felt I wanted to stay with Canon. I do not shoot any Video so I do not care about not having 4k video. The only thing That I wish it had was two card slots. LOVE the camera!!
Philip Coccari Hey, thinking about jumping on the same boat coming from a 70D, how do you like the camera now, after having it for a year or so? Thanks!

Been a hobby photographer since 1987. My first film camera was the Pentax K1000. In 2011, upgraded to the Canon Rebel T3 (12MP). 2 years ago to a Rebel T7I (24MP), and now, researching both Canon's EOS 6D Mark II and the Nikon D750. Placed both specs side by side, even tried them both at Best Buy for about an hour. With the Nikon, I like the idea of Dual slots and the headphone jack and choice of both NTSC and PAL video. With that said, I still believe in a seperate photo and video camera as I own a Canon XA10. If Nikon needed an update to this camera is this. I pulled back on the tilt screen and noticed the flimsy black flat cable connecting the screen to the camera, and thought this could easily become a repair issue. Unlike Canon's flip and touch screen which Nikon does not have. Again, this decision to switch to a Nikon after using Canon for 8 years, will be on a scorecard basis. I may still research a used or refurbished Nikon.
As sad as it is, it's true. Canon is way behind these days. The only thing going for them are their lenses, and even there it's not a clear lead any longer. Nikon has started to put out some really good lenses, and their bodies are miles ahead of Canon's. These days, if you want the best, you should probably go for Nikon.
Don't leave out Tamron and Sigma. They both now are putting out stellar lenses that cost way less than Canon L and Nikon glass. I have both and they are super sharp and at half the cost of comparable Nikon or Canon.
I agree with canon falling behind but their DPAF system is still legit and one that Nikon cant beat. Lenses are a wash to me between canon and Nikon, both have a huge library of sharp lenses. Right now canon is just offering feeble camera bodies in the setting to tech pushers like Sony and even feature laden bodies like the d850
This review confirmed how much I love this channel. haha. I have the Canon 6D Mark II and this review confirmed pretty much all the heartaches I've had with it.
8:22 "We have reviews of all those cameras". No, Tony, I've waited for so long for your review of the E-M1 II but it's still not there. I'm still here waiting for it, man. Please!
Perhaps Tony you might consider the weather-sealed, dust-proof, freeze-proof to -10°C, flip out screen, Wi-Fi, GPS attachment, pixel-shift, Pentax K-70 plus 55-300mm PLM lens 😊? As an alternative, perchance? Camera body only £599 lens £400 approx.
Same here. I just have so much Canon L glass to get rid of. I might just keep the 100mm macro and 17-40mm lenses, simply because I don't need to have a robust autofocus system with those two lenses while using an adapter. The 70-200mm GM OSS Sony lens is amazing. Sharper than any prime I've used with my Canon.
Same. Got a brand greymarket a7rii for 2.1k and get this, my adapted Canon lenses work even better on my a7rii than it did on my old 6d in most situations.
if it weren't for the ending where you explain the absurdness of the review, I was gonna comment about how cool and chill and laid back this review is. while I totally understand why you decided to make it off the wall, I loved it and you should make all your videos like that
My god when you want more dynamic range go in lightroom and work from there. I m getting tired of all this complains. And when you want recording video, buy a video camera 🎥
Thats exactly the point, when they say that the Dynamic Range of the Canon 6D sucks they are saying that you cant recover Shadow on lightroom without introduce a lot of noise! Things that on a Nikon D610, D750 or every other camera that has an Sony Sensor does incredible well!
Huge difference in quality after post processing. The reason cannon c300s and above shine is due to the wider dynamic range. When grading it allows more subtle colors to be shown.
I went from a 6D to the 6D2 I shoot about 500 pics a week for my job, 6Dii made everything harder in post processing. Sadly, I've had to continue using my 6D because the recovery with the 6DII is THAT bad in lightroom. 6dii just collects dust on my shelf with my old rebel at this point.
The Canon 6D mark 2 had the same layout as the Nikon D5500. On that note I am purchasing both the Canon 80D as the only thing missing from that is the double SD card slot and 4K video. And I am also going to purchase both the Nikon D750 and Sony A7R3 as they have all I need in full frame cameras.
Yeah I guessed that much ^^. I was just a little surprised by your comment that nerds tend to not appreciate practical aspects that improve photography. I would say quite the opposite. Nerds love practical aspects. I consider myself a nerd as well and I couldn't do without my flippy screen: I use it all the time. It just gives you so much freedom and options. But think I will pass on this even though it has a flippy screen and constinue saving for a GH5. Thanks for the funny review :)
I don't know, i clicked on the video after a notification came up and was really looking forward for your review(becuase i love these) and i was wondering what your final statement to the 6d mkII would be after..you know. I did not expect you to make this kind of video, but i really love it. go tony!
This is the cheapest Full Frame with Duel Pixel AF. So if you do 1080p video, want crazy depth of field, and shoot unassisted so need reliable continuous AF that won't pulse or jump around. This is it. Dynamic range at ISO 600 and below is poor, above that it hangs with most modern cameras. An image can only display about 9 stops unless you are using an HDR screen anyway so no need to recover stuff if you get the exposure right to begin with. But higher ISO noise and DR will be better than most smaller sensor cameras. But you don't look at full frame unless you really want it.
The 1080p video is awful. Worse than iPhone quality, worse than the 80D as they've taken the higher bitrate option away. Dual pixel is mainly useful for video. Good focus is negated by the focus points all bunched at the center. Dynamic range is awful, worse than the 6D and 80D. 1/4000 shutter speed, vs 1/8000 on the 80D. Canon spent 5 years on this!
jonuiuc ehm. Many pro Video shooters go manual focus all the time. All of it. A used a7s plus fe 24-240(stabilized) and some vintage 50f2 is cheaper than this and superior in quality. Not Video af. But not horrible either
Everyone has missed what this camera is supposed to be. It's meant to be a 80D that's full frame. It's to be used as a stepping stone into a full frame cameras system.
:( This camera is soooo dissapointing. I love Canon's cameras - they're just a breeze to use. And I always wanted a small full frame Canon. The original 6D was bad, and this one is even worse. I really have to accept at some point, that there is no future for me in the Canon lineup. Thanks for reinforcing my doubts, I guess it is time to say goodby to my L glass and switch so a different manufacturer. Really sad :(
I agree...I am still waiting if rumors are right and 6D II will get firmware update (which should fix that crap quality of pictures, because noise was worst with long expo noise reduction on, than with that function turned off and that is definitely some software bug) and if it won't deliver anything good, next year I will probably switch to Nikon, specifically D850, which is just beast
The original 6d is bad? I find the 6d to be a very capable camera that takes great images. To each their own. Maybe for your style of photography it didn't work. Hope the grass is greener for you.
I went with Nikon last year after years of waiting on Canon to improve the dynamic range. Finally sold a full bag of great Canon and Sigma glass and got some nice Nikon primes and zooms. What a drastic difference. Never looked back since. Nikon D750 is so much better camera in almost every aspect than anything that Canon currently sells even for a much higher price.
Graduating from my T6i (still a good camera) and have decided that I'm going to ante up for the D850. For the same price as a new 5dmk4... but has more features... I just hope it's not plagued by the D750 recall issues.
Great comparison. Thanks for doing this! I currently use a 6D and I won't be buying the 6D II. I'm just wondering what's going on with this indoor clips - there's a weird shaking at the edge of the frame.
Well as I read through most of the comments I see it's just a roast of Canon. I've been shooting Canon for years, and have thousands tied in glass, and am I happy with the 6dmll no but it is entry level for full frame in Canon's line.
IMHO not a roast, the truth and sometimes that hurts. Users waited over 4 years for a camera that has a sensor with less DR? Focus system taken from the D80? One slow, old tech SD slot? No 4K? No focus point thumb joystick? Sub-par sync speed? USB 2.0? No headphone jack. And a flippy screen from the D80. 4 years and $2k for that? Not a roast, a 4 year wait for a boring next generation camera from a company that used to innovate. When Sony, Nikon or Fuji comes up with something equal to or better than DPF (and they will) what selling point will Canon have then?
You know it's a bad sign when a smartphone like the Galaxy Note 8 has features like focus peaking in 4K recording mode and the 6D Mark 2 which is a dedicated camera lacks both features.
Wow just wow I own the 6D Mark II and it takes images that are completely acceptable and great. This whole DR issue is ridiculous. Who under or overexposes their images that bad. I get great images from this camera. If I am shooting fast moving subjects I am using my 7DM2 anyways. The low light performance from this camera is perfectly acceptable and for those of us who do not make money off of our images and cannot afford a 5DM4 then it is way better than a Note 8 which I own which is garbage BTW in low light and cannot shoot anything requiring telephoto. Use what you have because years ago I switched to Canon because they were so much better than Nikon and I am not falling for that crap again. Don't get me started on Sony. I have had 3 issues with customer service with a walkman, PS3 and a PSVita and I will never use anything by them ever again regardless of how good they are.
Currently a happy 6D owner. The reviews for the 6D were also not so good. I plan to add the 6D mark II to my camera bag sometime in 2019, it'll be my primary body and the 6D will become my more than capable backup body.
Thanks for making this review. You've helped me make up my mind. I initially was excited there was a more affordable full frame Canon. Now not so much.
This undoubtedly is a failure of canon. Poor video functionality, banal image quality, overall impression of being made intentionally less capable than it could be. But then again, I might be just jealous that i can’t full frame
The D810 is better than both the 5DIV and 5DS /R Especially if you are a landscape photographer. The D810 had better dynamic range than any DSLR Canon makes .
The D810 has only better dynamic range in its lowest base ISO of 64(which is real ISO 50 ) from ISO 100-200 they have about the same DR, and from ISO 400+ the 5DmIV even has better DR than the D810. In features and focus system of the 5DIV blows the D810 out of the water. But the D850 will be a killer.
hilarious I like how you have deep love for canon but don't hold back on your reviews when the product is less than stellar. You(both) are truly helpful!
Just got an EOS 70D last week. Want to go full-frame, but will wait for a better Canon before I dive in. Also, because I got the 70D, I'm able to use Lightroom Version6 - non-subscription version. On a limited budget, so this is a big deal.
I upgraded from a canon t6i to a 6D MKii and I love it. I also bought it on black friday so I only paid 1200 for it with a bunch of goodies. Doesn't matter what camera you have as long as you know what your doing. Look at images from 50 years ago and tell me there bad photos, there not. It's not the camera. Its the camera man/women.
First off, your house is beautiful! Secondly, I saw your other video talking about how this was a good vlogging camera. So if I am getting into Photography and videography, what does be a good go to over the 6D?
I have a 70D now and I am wanting to upgrade to a full frame body. I was looking at the 6d, but would love the swivel back, wifi, mic levels. However, playing with fire with single memory cards... what do you recommend?

At $1300 right now, it's a pretty good bargain, and I'm actually glad for all of the negative hype that drove the price now, because I was able to snatch one up plus a used 70-200mm f/4 L IS for under the price of a 5dmk4 body.
I've seen people take award winning photos with iphone 4s, so I really don't believe in 'bad' cameras. There's just finding the right camera for you and then it's on you to push it to its limits.
@@karikaru i can't agree with you more👍
Keep watching Canon 6d mark II reviews, but still i think that it is the camera i would buy.
I love how this review slowly deteriorated
And they still made it 10 minutes
This is by far the best review I have seen of a camera- well, at least the most fun. Thank you for the effort and silliness put into making it.
Get a Sony with a Canon adapter and have the best of both worlds? Most reviews seem in support of using Canon glass on the Sony bodies.
Here still waiting for the 7D3 to come out, nothing official by now!
@tyvek05 you mean the sony touch systems
?
i'm using 6d mark ll and i'm happy with this camera ,, i like your reviews but this time i'll not agree with you ..
iso and focusing system in this body is awesome ..
I can not thank you enough for being honest in this review. As a 2 decade canon user I have given up on them myself. I'm deciding to go with nikon d850 but waiting to see what sony will bring next. Thank you!
The deals on the 6D mark 2 are so good right now. The features set and customization is very deep also. The user manual is excellent.
GPS, wireless, bluetooth, time lapse recording, Digic 7 processor, higher resolution, dual pixel focusing system for video and touch and flipping screen... the Canon 5D Mark III has nothing of them! And still asking what is new?.
6D mk2's video seems like 720p upscaled to 1080p
I have the 80D and the flippy screen is a bigger deal than I thought. I love it.
So, it's basically a $2,000 flippy touchscreen with a camera attached.
Bill Ferris 1000s likes. 😂😂😂
It's a $2000 80D without a headphone jack and FF sensor.
Alright nerd
No. It's a $2K 80D with a FF sensor.
Bill Ferris ha- ha- and then after 2 seconds... Ha
Nice "Chelsea took these photos" disclaimer.
Means what? ...sexism or what? :-)
You said it was boring but this was probably one the most entertaining videos of yours that I've watched.
I left Canon and bought the A7RII. The colors and DR are amazing. Face and eye tracking are great and could never go back to a DSLR again.
The ending was hilarious. I've been subscribed to you guys years. You're my #1 source for unbiased reviews. Thank you and keep up the great work!
Want a pro Canon camera? Buy a M3 or M4 and if you have a big budget get a 1DXM2 and stop crying about the 6DM2!!! Is an entry level full frame camera, don't expect to be the best of all.
It's in the same price category of a d750 or an A7ii
Short list of best camera reviews ever. How fun.
The added bonus to the battery grip is that it drives the bigger lenses much better.
scarmenl Really? Using the grip actually improves lens drive? I had no idea. Is this using Canon's own grip?
Yeah, I have some $10K+ tied up just in Canon glass. I am hoping that the next new line of Canon bodies, when ever it comes out, will be much better.
Best resource for unbiased reviews !! Been following you for years
Tony, this review was awesome ‼️ 👍 Very good sense of humor, you fairly put forward the advantages of the camera but are not afraid to speak your mind and provide us with a clear cut opinion when the camera also sucks. This one was one of the best review ever. Thanks !
Maybe the best review I've ever seen, simply because of your great style and the frequent changes of scene.
A bit disappointing from Canon. I have an original 6D and was hoping to upgrade. With 6 EF good full-frame lenses, 3 flashes and other Canon specific equipment it's hard to move to another ecosystem.
Miro Vida Hi.. how is the quality of original Canon 6D Mark 1 ? Any complaints ?
I did it and it's not that difficult, just be patient, it takes a little time. So pleased that I switched to Nikon.
manish arora
I have the original 6D.
D3500 with nikkor afp 18-55 dx vr and a nikkor 50mm 1.8 g ed
This is a world class, really fair and fun review! (As expected from Tony.)
I loved this review! I am a former canon user it is a very disappointing camera. Can’t wait for the Nikon D850 to be reviewed
Same with me (moved to D750 with Tamron Lenses attached)
I too switched to Nikon d810 from canon 5dmk3
Just get a D850. ;)
My problem is that I love canon's L lenses. I'm a wildlife photographer and according to Tony, Canon has the edge with the zoom lenses. Highly frustrated with Canon for not keeping up with Nikon's bodies. D850...
This video was outstanding xD Expensive flippy screens and swimming goggles, what's not to love!
Oh Tony! Your wacky shenanigans always keep me coming back.
Lol great review. I'm one of the few nerds who upgraded from the 6D. Autofocus and flipscreen were worth the trade off in dynamic range (of which I was completely unaware until I read all the initial reviews)
I adore this new crazy style of review. Please keep this up with every camera.
Such a cute outro 😍 got to give a like for that
I agree to an extent I've been trying to get rid of Canon but their colors are just so amazing and that dual pixel autofocus is just saved me so much work I mean I don't even need to color grade sometimes the colors are just that amazing and all I've got to do is just a little bit contrast and look sexy
"Most photographers in the real world just shoot JPEG" ...What?! I'm really starting to think Tony just makes statements like that to trigger people in the comments lol
As a nerd I want quantifiable facts! Proof Tony!! I also want to know whether most users of a full frame DSLR still use jpegs!!!
ARXV Photo "Most" could be smartphone users who do shoot in jpeg. They are technically the majority of "photographers".
Ken Rockwell may have had something to do with this lol
Right. It all comes down to what we consider to be a "photographer" these days.
Out of all my friends using dslr, most shoot jpeg. I think when he says "real world photographers", he just means people with cameras. I think he is right.
First rate video! Wonderful production value. Not boring to watch at all! Keep up the great work!
Keep it up!
Tony being a Swedish undercover swimming athlete confirmed by this video evidence.
Tony thanks for the love we appreciate the effort you put in, and even tho this is a dog of a camera we still watched the full video, found you entertaining and returned the love.. cheers 🍷🍸🍺
I have Nikon D750 and I am happy :)
Yeah your what is it 3-4 years old now camera is better then Canon's competitor that has just been released.
What da heck?!
I love what you do, most of all because as a big UA-cam channel, you can direct large numbers of people to the camera that is most suitable for them. If it turns out that non-canon cameras are better suited for people and they actually are convinced to buy them instead of the canon, canon might start giving customers more for their money!
Tony, your earlier reviews from 2-3 years ago used to be much better.
this is the best review of any camera I've seen yet. thank you!
So in other words, unless you're already a Canon shooter, and don't require full frame, Fuji X-T2.
Actually your most entertaining video to date
Thank you Orlando for the recount of your experience converting from Canon to Sony. It reaffirms my decision.
This has to be one of the best camera reviews I've ever seen. Kudos to you Tony for a really informative and interesting review on a "meh" product.
I've never clicked so fast, very nice review Mr Northrup :)
Philip Coccari
Hey, thinking about jumping on the same boat coming from a 70D, how do you like the camera now, after having it for a year or so?
Thanks!
Hey.. im also thinking about going full frame from my old 7d, and this might be the one.
Watching and reading reviews at the moment.

Right now canon is just offering feeble camera bodies in the setting to tech pushers like Sony and even feature laden bodies like the d850
right, my sigma 18-35 f/1.8 is still one of my all time favorite lenses
This review confirmed how much I love this channel. haha. I have the Canon 6D Mark II and this review confirmed pretty much all the heartaches I've had with it.
Whilst it isn't full frame, I'm feeling pretty good about my recently acquired second hand 60d right now :D
I actually loved this video and humor after watching many others of yours. You should do more like this!
Am I watching Kai's channel?
Probably the most entertaining review to date :) Thanks Tony!
8:22 "We have reviews of all those cameras".
No, Tony, I've waited for so long for your review of the E-M1 II but it's still not there. I'm still here waiting for it, man. Please!
Same for me.
Perhaps Tony you might consider the weather-sealed, dust-proof, freeze-proof to -10°C, flip out screen, Wi-Fi, GPS attachment, pixel-shift, Pentax K-70 plus 55-300mm PLM lens 😊? As an alternative, perchance? Camera body only £599 lens £400 approx.
Sold my 6D last month. Abandoning Canon system.
I did the same, went to Nikon and so glad I did. Nikon, Sony and Fuji are now leaving Canon in the dust.
Same. Took a chance on team Pentax with the K-1. Love it so far.
Don't sell your glass! Just get an adapter. Still retain more autofocus points than most bodies out there with a Sony body.
Best/most entertaining review I've watched in a while.
7:20 Leave that plant alone Tony! You're a little too close for comfort. lol
All reviews should be done like this. No excuses!
when the only upside is the god damn flip screen...
That's typical for Canon logic.
that articulating screen can be a deal breaker for a lot of people....
Is it? He didn't mention any of the features that bring people to the 6d ecosystem.
if it weren't for the ending where you explain the absurdness of the review, I was gonna comment about how cool and chill and laid back this review is. while I totally understand why you decided to make it off the wall, I loved it and you should make all your videos like that
My god when you want more dynamic range go in lightroom and work from there.
Can't cheat physics in Lightroom.
@@MikeJovani Really? So bad? I was thinking of getting the 6dii for backup cam, hm... And 1300$ is a nice price?
The Canon 6D mark 2 had the same layout as the Nikon D5500. On that note I am purchasing both the Canon 80D as the only thing missing from that is the double SD card slot and 4K video. And I am also going to purchase both the Nikon D750 and Sony A7R3 as they have all I need in full frame cameras.
This is the camera you have been asking Canon for years? ROFL!
Thanks. This was actually a useful explanation of what the 6D Mark II brings to the table in 2022. Definitely not my next camera.
Is the arch daddy of camera nerds saying he is not a camera nerd??
I consider myself a nerd.
I did not expect you to make this kind of video, but i really love it. go tony!
OK so it sucks ?
Yes.
Well it's not that it sucks, it's more just that it's a major disappointment and let down from Canon
Awesome review Tony! Nice editing Justin :)
Canon spent 5 years on this!
jonuiuc there are booster adapters that can give such dof also to mirrorless apsc cameras
jonuiuc other Video af-s do not suck though and other cameras offer is...yeah Sony. For way less money.
jonuiuc ehm.
Really sad :(
I agree...I am still waiting if rumors are right and 6D II will get firmware update (which should fix that crap quality of pictures, because noise was worst with long expo noise reduction on, than with that function turned off and that is definitely some software bug) and if it won't deliver anything good, next year I will probably switch to Nikon, specifically D850, which is just beast
xBris Choose Sony man, it's amazing!
The original 6d is bad? I find the 6d to be a very capable camera that takes great images. To each their own. Maybe for your style of photography it didn't work. Hope the grass is greener for you.
The original 6D is a GREAT camera. Better IQ than the 5D3. It just has a terribly basic AF system.
Yayyy more videos like this please! It's 2017, I need comedy, entertainment, AND information.
Never owned canon camera. Prefer Nikon, Sony, Panasonic or Olympus.
Sure wish Canon would catch up...
Always enjoy your and Chelsea's reviews!!
Canon is living in 2011.
Yep, I'm afraid there are few folks over at Canon with their heads up their anal cavities.
Graduating from my T6i (still a good camera) and have decided that I'm going to ante up for the D850. For the same price as a new 5dmk4... but has more features... I just hope it's not plagued by the D750 recall issues.
I saw you by the pool and thought, “THIS is going to be a GREAT weather seal test!” I was disappointed. :-(

Murray T they explained it at some point. I think Chelsea made the logo or something and wanted to put her name first
+Murray T when Chelsea makes something, she puts her name first, and vice-versa. So we're consistent in that way.
When it comes to things that absolutely don't matter, whimsy is far superior to consistency. /opinion
Murray T Out of all the flavors in the world, you choose to be salty? Just relax bro.
Mike O'Brien other Entry level cams are way cheaper and anyone who wants to Start canon and fullframe right away should rather go for a used 6d then
Mike O'Brien recently sony had an offer for brandnew a7 cameras for 780euro. The a7ii is1200new.
Sold a few of these last week at work, should I expect some returns? 😂😂
Only if you sold them to nerds :D
Tony & Chelsea Northrup We get plenty nerds buying from us lol but more pro photographers thankfully.
Thanks for making this review. You've helped me make up my mind. I initially was excited there was a more affordable full frame Canon. Now not so much.
this is a joke, the whole thing in this camera
get 5d mrk 4, eat noodles for months, save money, please don't buy it!
This was the funniest tonyandchelseanorthup video ever😂😂 love it!!
This undoubtedly is a failure of canon. Poor video functionality, banal image quality, overall impression of being made intentionally less capable than it could be.
But then again, I might be just jealous that i can’t full frame
Boring to make...maybe, but it was really fun to watch. You made my morning with those toes, Tony!
The right comparison is between D850 and 6DmkII.
D850 crush canon.
The D810 crushed canon.
The D810 is better than both the 5DIV and 5DS /R Especially if you are a landscape photographer. The D810 had better dynamic range than any DSLR Canon makes .
You missed the point. He was comparing a full frame body you that can get for $200 less right now. (D810)
I know what he said.........I am saying the D810 is a better landscape camera than anything canon makes much less the 6D Mk II .
I love the goofiness. I'm very happy with my 77D for vlogging, but full frame and on screen audio levels would be nice.
hilarious
I like how you have deep love for canon but don't hold back on your reviews when the product is less than stellar. You(both) are truly helpful!
honestly i wasnt expecting you to make this video... bought a7r as a first step moving out of canon today...
Amazing quality review. Keep up the 4K 60FPS uploading.
