Does the original Batman story give the writers an advantage in writing a compelling screenplay?

Well, Batman stops short of actually killing anyone to stop a crime. That's the moral argument that joker had against him in the dark knight. The joker will kill to prove his point of view about the soul of Gotham. The Batman will not.

My conclusion is just that Batman is one of the only super hero's without any super powers, he is real, he is a human being, it is technology that makes him stronger and he has an interesting ghost that hounts him since the age of 10 when his parents were killed by the Joker. This is only half-right especially given the fact that Batman is more Oedipus than Hades. Batman is a deeply flawed and extremely dark character who will take almost any action immoral or illegal for the greater good of justice. But what ultimately makes him a hero and not a villain is his heroic virtue. His willingness to sacrifice his life for Gotham and unwillingness to kill are redeeming characteristics that makes him noble.
