    I am buying my first ATV. Been watching lots of UA-cam videos. After all the videos I'm down to buying a Yamaha but trying to decide between a Kodiac or a Griz. I wanted to say that your presentation style is one of the best I have watched. No BS. I love it. You have also been the video which has influenced me the most on buying the Griz. I know this is a couple years old but it is still valid. Thanks for such a useful and no BS level presentation. 5 Stars!

      I'm glad you like it. ATV's are my main hobby. I've been told that I'm very picky when it comes to them. The Grizzly now has 3,100 miles on and still going good. I still have no regrets or want to buy a different machine. The way I understand it, the Kodiak was made to be a little more of a work machine and the Grizzly a play machine. So if trail riding and play are your main use's, I'd go Grizzly. If farm or ranch is your main use, I'd recommend you go Kodiak and save a few bucks. I myself, would go Grizzly either way because I know I like the set up and extra storage the Grizzly has over the Kodiak. Have fun with your new Machine.

    Great video work. I just picked up a very slightly used and very well maintained 2019 Grizzly EPS and your video was very helpful in evaluating my options. Started going down the Honda path, then Suzuki, then Yamaha, then Polaris, then Yamaha, then Polaris and ended up with the Grizzly. Especially once I saw the condition and the deal I got. Came with brand new Moose plow and Yamaha box on back. Very happy. Question...did you ever replace the non-LED light in the steering column? Looking for additional information on that and which LED bulb is the right bulb for the change. Thanks.

      Congrats on your new purchase. I'm hoping to get to a review on either the Kingquad 500 or Kingquad 700 this summer. I wanted to get a few more miles in on the 700 before I really compared it to the grizzly 700.
      No I haven't replaced the bulb yet. I myself wasn't exactly sure what bulb I needed and then I forgot about it as I don't do much night riding anymore. I might get to it this summer. If I do, I'll make a short video with the info I found.

    Great video! I’m also convinced the Yamaha and Suzuki quads are top of the heap when you’re after reliability and performance. I like Honda too but they need to put a bigger engine in the Rubicon😎. I currently ride a 2019 King Quad 750 power steering and had a 2014 and 2017 models before that. No problems with any of them. I did a long term review on mine too. I usually keep two quads and may grab a Grizzly next time so I can do a fair head to head comparison. Thanks for the detailed review.

    Ciao, this is Massimo from Italy. Since I got disabled in 2013 I can't drive the motobikes anymore but I can drive the ATV. I'm thinking to buy a Yamaha Grizzly 'cause they say is a great ATV. In 2011, at the time I was sound) I crossed all USA from Delaware to Oregon by motobike (Honda XR 650 L) and now I'm playing with the idea to do the same trip driving an ATV. I recently bought a cf moto cforce 600 and it has been great so far. But, after watching reviews on the grizzly, I wish that I hadn’t pulled the trigger so fast. The cf moto feel pretty solid and well built bit it doesn’t have the history of the Yamaha. Cf moto is a lot easier on the pocket$$. But I will have to wait and see about reliability. Good video. I too came from Honda....I won't be going back to Honda. Do you have any problems with dust finding its way into the rear atv storage box? I have yet to find a cargo box that is dust proof.

    • @tgltoday2717
      @tgltoday2717  3 роки тому +1

      Same here. If I have good luck with this one, and so far at 2000 miles now I have, I won't be going back to Honda unless they make some major changes. The rear box so far has been 99% dust proof. I was getting a little dust in by the right latch which I really think is just because that box doesn't have a good dust seal on it in my opinion. I moved my rain jacket to sit up tight against the spot the dust was coming in and now the dust doesn't get all over my stuff, it just gets on the one spot of the rain jacket that sits where the seal lets some dust in. I couldn't have asked for that to fix it any better. I had a Raider box on my Honda that didn't let any dust or water in period. I searched all over for that box and found they stopped making it. Go figure, the one box that does it's job they stop making.

For my kind of trail riding which is between 20-35mph on average, I love the CVT. I like the hit it and go feeling and the Grizzly has decent engine braking. The few times I get to ride private land with grass trails, that is when I miss the electric shifting of the Honda. I loved being able to put it in 1st gear and crawl over anything and it still sound like the machine is on idle. Also nice for hunting. In the mud or show, the CVT is really nice cause you have as much power/speed as you want without having to downshift which limits your speed.

      It was a nice machine but they have a common issue with the timing chain issue. Cant remember exact details but the auto tensioner eventually maxes out and I cant remember how much ends up getting replaced. It starts with just a little rattle or ticking noise at start up for like 30 seconds. Noise get worse as the chain gets worse. Other then that I've seen guys with 20k miles running great. I didnt like the 3 spd tranny in auto mode or esp mode. But prior to 2015 it was one of my favorite machines. The 3spd is very reliable from what I've seen. It's just a personal preference for me. Sold it because I had already had my 06 foreman 500 and really wanted a locker. It had 4,800 miles on when I sold it. Pros, its a Honda so its a pretty reliable machine. Rides nice and has decent power for its time, and I like the gauge package it had. Also seemed pretty good on fuel for a carb 650 when trial riding. Cons, no locker, and the 3spd tranny is something I just couldn't get used to. It seemed to free wheel to much for me even when shifting. I was very used to my Foreman 500 5spd and loved how it shifted. Would I buy a new one today? No, because still no locker, still no diff lock, no powersteering, nothing has changed that I'm aware of other then its an EFI 680. I think 07 maybe with it was turned into the 680 and got efi. Don't quote me on the year. It wouldn't even be in the same class as handling and power as the 19 grizzly is. Let me know if you get one and how you like it. I love HONDA's. Thank you for the great video! I am looking to buy a new Grizzly 700 and this is helpful. Will want to go with the EHS air box too. What is the gear box on the back rack? Is it a Yamaha brand, and are you happy with it? Thanks again for the helpful video!!

    • @tgltoday2717
      @tgltoday2717  3 роки тому

      Yes, the box is Yamaha brand. I am happy with it. It's hard to find a box that keeps the dust and water out. This one does a really good job except it lets a little dust in by the right strap if you are looking at it standing behind the machine. I don't think the gasket set up they use is the best and I also don't think the strap to latch the box is the best but to my surprise they both have worked good so far. I keep my rain jacket where the dust comes in so only my Jacket gets a dusty in that one spot and no dust gets in. The strap latches haven't popped off on me yet while riding so that is good. They really do seem like they would. The grizzly is really fun. Let me know what you think of yours when you get it.

      It's just a fuel filter you can put inline on a lawn mower. I just went to Napa with the new hose and had them get me one that fits.

      2016-2018 Yamaha didn't make the motor and it was actually a 708cc. Sabaru made the engine for those years and it had major oil burning issues. In 2019 Yamaha went back to the 686cc motor which ran in all the previous year 700 Grizzly's. The 686 is the reliable, trouble free motor you want. That's what is in my 2019 Grizzly. I know 3 people who have or had the 708cc motor and 2 of the 3 had major oil issues and sold them. The 3rd person only has 300 miles on theirs so can't say for sure where that one is at. Hope this helps.

      I'm in WI. Most of the County Forestry departments I believe are the ones who decide. Some trails are decided by the ATV clubs that maintain them. Each trail system has different dates though. Some stay open all year and only close for the spring thaw. Trails by me are closed Dec 1st to May 1st. Sometimes longer depending on if its deemed to wet in the woods still.
