  • In the span of 12 hours, I stepped on a pin tomato, got a tetanus booster, and made a mockup of Simplicity r11334. Honestly can't say I recommend 2/3 of these. The one I recommend being the tetanus shot, because you never know when you'll slip and land on something unsanitary.

Thank you for making this video. I appreciate your insights on how this garment was constructed. I was going to purchase it, and try my hand at making a vintage garment. After hearing what you had to say, I think I’ll pass on this one. Thanks again

You often mock up the patterns I truly love. It’s great to see the shapes and styles on a real plus size body. I really liked how this turned out and I will be looking for this pattern. Back when this pattern was initially printed most women had more sewing skills so yes it’s probably intermediate level. Thanks so much for reviewing this one.

I came across this pattern in the sewing store just today and fell in love with it immediately even though I was sceptical about the skirt as I'm sort of plus size too. The fact that the first person I'm seeing it on is plus size too makes me feel more confident about it.

Please make the real dress with the long sleeves. I so appreciate your detailed instruction with added sewing advise. I am a very beginner with a developing passion for sewing - especially vintage styles. I would love to see you make the dress with all the pressing and top stitching included. I would love to see you cut the material will all the instruction on what line to cut from and what ease you recommend. Thank you again!

Please make it!!! Your video is the first helpful thing I've found on this pattern (I got a copy a few months ago) and I am too afraid to go it on my own😆
Loved your video, love the thumbnail, and hope to see the finished garment. I'll go watch some of your other videos while I wait😁

This is really helpful. I super appreciate the detailed commentary! Thanks for the great advice.
I think it would look cool on you with the adjustments you mentioned. Despite the issues, it has a tall and elegant look to it. Maybe with a darker contrast tone on the upper, sleeve and collar parts?

Hi, thanks for sharing your work with us. My tops often have the gaping loose fit bc of being heavy on top. My instructor told me to shave off a bit of the pattern at the top center when they are two pieces with a center seam. When it is one piece cut on the fold line, I make a small pleat in the pattern and tape it down. Is that kosher sewing, I don’t know, but it’s the best I can come up with. If anyone has a suggestion, do tell. 😅

My copy of this pattern has the instructions only in German & French! I emailed them though and they sent me the English instructions. I wonder whether it might be possible to add in pockets under the buttons on the skirt?

I think with vintage sewing patterns they assumed a lot of knowledge… It’s unusual as you say that they didn’t update the instructions.

Here's my review on the Pattern Review website: sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/readreview.pl?readreview=1&ID=185091 I forgot to add there that the instructions for inserting the zipper refer to the right and left sides, but as the zipper goes in a side seam, it really should say front and back edges of the bodice and skirt pieces.
