  • Yashica sounds cheap, but Yashinon, instead, sounds somewhat professional.
This small lens gives you superb color rendition plus sharpness, nice bokeh almost comparable with the Meyer lens, and "Aura" flare.
Errata: After deep research for this lens, I would like to correct the optical design, it's a "Double-Gauss type" and not "Ultron type" as said in my video.

Allow me to introduce you to the 2nd part of "The Asahi Pentax History Course (Last Chapter)" .
This chapter will help you better understand the Japanese camera industry before and after V.V.II, that "strong will" of reborn from ashes.

thank you for another video. i'm curious to know why you chose to review the 50mm f1.7 over the 50mm f1.4?
as a side note, i was fortunate enough to acquire the p. angenieux 35mm f2.5 r1, taika super coligon 200mm f2.8, and the soligor 85mm f1.5 at auction. they are all well used and in need of CLA. the super coligon has very dry grease, but unscrewing the front optical block is easy enough to take apart for cleaning.

Good question. At the shop where I buy lenses (Japan), they told me "...50mm f/1.4 no good, has a problem...". In this scenario, I'm suspicious about the debonding of glue between the 4th group of lens. Thus, I wrote, "...models with M42 mount are hard to find a second-hand model that works fine.".
Congratulations on acquiring the Paris Angenieux. To where I live, an old city with narrow streets and alleys, a focal length of 200mm is almost impossible. I have one but is down deep in the fridge😑.
Tokina Soligor, a good alternative to the Russian KMZ 85👍

I have the ricoh auto rikenon 50mm f1.7, some say it's the same lens and indeed based on your examples the results look similar. Do you know if this is true? Will you make videos for the rikenon series ?

Hello and thank for your comment. If your lens barrel is made of steel, in hight and low relief, yes, it is. About Rikenon lenses, let me do a search.😏

@@red_code the focus ring on mine is similar to the one on your review of the SUPER-MULTI-COATED-Takumar 24mm f/3.5. Chapter 29. But shorter (1.3cm) my auto rikenon 50mm f/1.7 is a great lens but can't find many details, it seems like the f/2 xr version (Japanese summicron) gets all the glory 😁

@@PitNeex Yes, it is a Tomioka. Go to my last chapter 40. This chapter explains better. In the present chapter, I doubted if this lens was from Tomioka. Now, I'm sure.
