    Wow, this is a great lens comparison. I recently tried to make a lens comparison video myself, but this one is much better

    Really enjoyed this. Have one of each plus an 8 element Takumar but haven't really compared them like this. You should try the little 55mm f/2 Auto Takumar (1.8 in zebra).
    You should have way more subscribers, great content.

    Love the hat, Ben. And the branded glasses frames are nice. Personally, I prefer the color on the Yashinon.

    Did the 8 element Takumar ever beat the Zeiss? I have an old Soviet lens test of fast 50's. The only German lens included was a Leica Summilux. The 8 element Takumar was the second best, but the Leica was playing in another level. The Takumar wasn't far behind in center sharpness, almost matched the Leica mid field but the Leica was playing on a different level in the corners.

      Hi Sebastian! I have only tested the 7-element version so far with these comparisons. I think the 8 element version rivaled Zeiss and could be "as good" but I don't necessarily think it could be called "better" unless it is overmatching the other lens, for instance a Zeiss 50mm 2.8 vs Yashica 50 1.4, the Yashica will win for what I like.

    I like the idea of the channel and I subscribed, but I hope to see some more information on your scoring criteria. Like what lens would be a 10 if this lens is a 9 Or simply what are the gold standards in each category and maybe an example of a shot from that lens. Also you can more effectively honor the time of your viewers by a little more editing. especially in the areas that you were your flow breaks down, unclear, drink breaks etc. Just some constructive feedback.

    Why wouldn’t you use an 8 element Takumar, the lens their 50mm reputation is based on?

      Especially noted for it’s superior Bokeh .

    How does one tell the difference between the 7 element Super-T and the 8 Element Super-T versions? I have one of that vintage and would be curious which one it is.

    • @CoutoCameraCompany
      @CoutoCameraCompany  3 роки тому

      Thanks for checking it out Scott! The easiest way to tell is if you look at the focus tic mark, there is a number 4 just to the left of that. Next to that 4, there is a very small orange dash. If it is CLOSER to the focus tick mark (if it is to the right of the 4), it is an 8-element. Other ways to tell, if it is "yellow" from radioactive decay, it is definitely the 7 element (8 element is not radioactive so doesn't turn yellow). If the back of the lens has a massive "bubble" element protruding that is the 8th element - while if it is not a bubble but it is "flat" that is a 7 element. Of course the SIMPLEST way to know is you can text me a photo since you are VIP ;)

    Test the Miranda 50/1.4 8 element and the Mamiya HC 50/1.7, they should both score high.

      @@CoutoCameraCompany my bad, it is a 58mm lens, and should probably best be compared to a Biotar 58/2.

    I really appreciate the side-by-side, but I think that you inadvertently favored the Takumar because you set the camera to auto white balance. I bet if you would switch the lenses on the camera bodies you will see a remarket change in color. The test should’ve been balanced withbothcams locked to either tungsten or daylight for both cameras. Auto means that you don’t know the color temperature that the camera selected. That can throw everything off. Other than that I agree with your evaluations completely. Creative testing, yes!
