I wanted one of those the first time I saw it, but I'd probably stand a Better chance of getting a REAL platypus! The Good/Bad thing about the 1911 design is that the tolerances require ALOT of cleaning, and when you've been used to poly/striker guns that you sometimes Never need to clean, it's a different game.
To be fair, I HAVE let a few pieces go and have honored my word to the wife about not buying anymore. lol But yes, it hurt the wallet a bit, and that was the initial purchase. The ammo I've shot through it has ALSO hurt the wallet, and it's addicting to shoot. If you ever make it out this way, I'm going to put it in your hands and you can hate me later lol
Always a good range day when you get the Platypus out! I just did a night match last night. Ended up winning the overall, actually!! I ran my Shadow Systems DR920. It has my light and I have light bearing holsters for it. I need to find a good light holster for the Platypus and I'll probably run it in some matches once the red dot I want is released!! I been focused on learning PRS the last few months, but seeing this makes me want to get the Platypus out again this weekend! Will run mine Sunday and Monday evenings!! Have a good one, dude!!
That's awesome man! Yeah, any excuse I find to put the Platty in the range bag is a good time. lol Those Shadow Systems guns are pretty great shooters too! They do a good job on their pistols
@ArchetypeofMan Yeah, I picked pretty good for my first serious pistol. Got the Platypus out at dark on Sunday. Just ran 1 mag, but I was tired after the week I had last week 🤣. It always goes with me to the range tho, just depends how I feel when I get there what I'm gonna work on. Try to spread my time around so I can work on everything a little each month.
Thanks man! Yeah, it's wayyyy more accurate than I can do it justice. It makes shooting those longer shots a breeze though, especially with that trigger 😂
Not at all. Seems to work really well for me. Granted, the magwell helps me push my grip up into the trigger guard, so I'm not sure what's having the biggest effect, but I like the texture
@@ArchetypeofMan Thanks brother. I was going to order the Government size with a threaded barrel, but I am thinking about building the Commander size with a threaded barrel instead. I have an Octane 45 can that I can run with this. I think the Government size will be too big with a can? What are your thoughts. I want to get my first build right.
I definitely like the Commander size with the threaded barrel. I'm not sure how much more awkward the Govt size would be with a can, but I REALLY like the commander length 1911s in general. I think you'll be happy either way. Worst comes to worst, you can do what I'm doing and try to save up for a second one in the configuration you DIDN'T pick, just because 😂😂 (actually just wanting one with the RMR full sized cut, and because I like the gun so much, I want more. 😂😂)
Good video, I keep going back and forth on ordering one, thanks for posting.

@@ArchetypeofMan LOLOL! Who says I'll give it back?? 🤣🤣🤣 Nah, I couldn't do that to ya Brother! 😁✌
If you lived close enough, I'd lend it to you for a bit lol But I WILL be wanting it back at some point. 😂😂😂

Did you get the 2011 discreet or 1911 discreet holster?
I did the 1911 one
This Thing is a Tac Driver nice Video man !!!!

Do you find the chainlink texture too slick for the hand?

@@ArchetypeofMan I am thinking about the cut for the Aimpoint ACRO P2, but also thinking about going no cut at all. OCD is a crazy thing...🤪
I dont know about all religions, but I do know it's a sin in Judaism to leave a gun in a safe and never use it.
I can support that 100% lol
